Best fans un the world? Bollocks.Thats what’s wrong with the Irish supporters mentality. Why not be the best team in the world,or at least strive to be?
In my own opinion English speaking countries that refer to it as soccer do so because they have their own kind of football. Before soccer/football was introduced to them they already had a 'football'. The shape of the ball and whether they kick it or not is irrelevant.
"But technically for the Irish side, he restricted our flow of play and once we brought in Kinsella/Holland midfield we played better football." That's hilariously false. We had poor attacking midfielders so HE restricted our flow of play? Haha, madness.
A reasonable player .... in 2002.... No, Peter, he was one of the best players on the planet in 2002. Would have walked on to any team, club or country.
Just always reminds me of.. I'll tell ya who wrote it.. I can remember his name.. Rod Liddle.. he was the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one 😂😂😂
There is no comparison between dunphy and hitchens other than they both liked their booze. Christopher hitchens was a legend, Dunphy is a tool with a big mouth.
He was a great hacker and was the most feared player in his day, but he wasn't technically that gifted a player. You can't compare him to Giggs or Scholes, he has enough game to play in the premier league, but a lot of it is down to his tenacity and his ability to intimidate other teams and obviously that helped United to a lot of titles. He would have definitely been a difficult player to play against, but what are you trying to say? That he was Xavi or Iniesta? Far from it.
Thats not false at all, once Roy Keane was out the door we played a more fluid style of football, he's a conservative player - not a creative one. He didn't suit the type of players we had in our world cup side - this would include primarily Keane and Duff who were really let of the leash against sides such as Spain and Germany in South Korea. Tactically Kinsella turned out to be the better option, he wasn't world class, but he was much more creative than Roy Keane.
That's nice to know although I'm not sure why you're telling me this. You're only proving my point! I am pretty amused at the fact you get so annoyed if a country that is not your own calls a sport by a name you don't in Scotland. :-)
That's utter nonsense, Keane and Duff were in no way shackled by Roy. What planet are you from? The reason we played conservatively was purely down to decisions by managers over the years, which have opted for a defensive style so as to not lose rather than win games. Keanes distribution of the ball out from Midfield to forward positions was insane compared to Kinsellas. Statistics don't lie. Kinsella, creative? lol
One thing ive noticed about the Irish is that they arent content unless they are bickering. A conversation with my father in law was basically an argument. It always left you deeply unnerved but he looked like he was loving it. I much prefer the light hearted riffing that the English do.
because 'football' in Ireland is Gaelic football, not Association football. The same way 'football' in the US is American football, in Australia it's Aussie rules, New Zealand it's rugby. In fact, Britain is the only English-speaking country that calls it 'football'.
well him and Matt Holland formed a better partnership in midfield that ultimately allowed the whole team to play freer football. It really let Duff, Keane and Kilbane of the leash in terms at running at other teams and attacking their defences. It was actually a really exciting team to watch, and yes Roy Keane is not technically gifted he just has a very big intimidation factor which is useful to win games, however he comes up short in creativity and technique.
he was a very reliable holding midfield player and had a very strong presence about him which is why he was such a good player for United. Ultimately though, it was the skill of Giggs and Scholes around midfield that complimented Keane's aggressive style of play and vice versa. He's similar to Graeme Souness who led liverpool to 3 European titles. But technically for the Irish side, he restricted our flow of play and once we brought in Kinsella/Holland midfield we played better football.
What a non-point. Like the Americans, we also have our own national sport also called Football, due to this, we call the newer English version Soccer, which come from the word AsSOCiation Football, which you call football.
This guy......this guy......this guy......this guy......this guy......this guys' Jack Charlton's biographer.
Peter Byrne former Irish Times reporter - not great. RIP
Dunphy was right those guys were clowns.
My favourite part is when the other guy starts saying there needs to be a referendum called to decide about Roy Keane
It's this sort that are getting into positions of influence over society. They think they're smart but are as u said, 🤡's
The referendum line always gets me 😂😂
"Where d'you get these two guys from?" Brilliant

A referendum on bringing Roy Keane back into the Irish team, could you imagine 😂😂😂😂😂
Everything about this video is perfect it's like a brilliantly written sketch.
Indeed 😂
Last 5 seconds are pure gold when Dunphy laughs at your man
Love the hilariously abrupt and random cut to *IRAQ*
Dunphy is in flying form here
Off topic, but jesus, time and technology moves rapidly fast now. This clip from 04 looks as old as 94 lol
What was your man doing in that cardigan in 2004?
Crazy that this comment was 7 years ago...technology has advanced even more now, makes me wonder what it’ll be like 7 years from now
@@DarrenBates All the kids were wearing them back then. I remember mine. 😂
This is low quality from a tape properly
This is like an Alan Partridge scene.
Winning streak is the only place on this planet where anybody can get away with wearing a red tie, an orange shirt and a white cardigan.
This was when Dunphy would take a bullet for Keane. Now he hates Keane, because Keane had a go at him. He's like a jilted lover.
Lmao the ending “IRAQ”
Classic Rte
Mark Hunter is one tough cookie. The UFC fighters should bless themselves that he didn't join the division.
Roy Keane was never a reasonable player, he was top drawer. What a way to thank a great player for Ireland.
Well in all fairness dunphy had a point where did hey get those 2 from 🙂🙂
Utter clowns! Ha 😂😂
Dunphy: 'Where'd you get these two guys from!?'
Brilliant.
I'm obsessed by the Aran cardigan!
"where did you get these two guys from?"
"this guy this guy this guy this guy"- comedy gold
I was waiting for a "ran off with a young one" style comment 😂
Love the lightheaded chat and banter of Irish football to then segue into Iraq 😱😅
What a worthwhile contribution.
There's no chance this is 2004, what year was this recorded in? Looks like 1970
"This guy"

Are you saying Mark Kinsella was a more technically gifted player than Keane?

The fact of the matter is, if you would just give Roy Keane his cardigan back, everything would be fine.
