It is awful that Keir has chosen to play an autistic person just to further his career. Keir is not autistic, he is not someone who has the challenges in life that real autistic people do. Keir should be a shamed of himself for using real people with autism to gain the notoriety he hasn't from everything else he has tried. If he wants real notoriety that have him play the gay man who has cerebral palsy it's on Netflix too and then let's see how talented he is.

He was so convincing, it was amazing. He got the little details like twitching and not participating in eye contact but most importantly, he played the role without making it insensitive. I was amazed.

His acting is so good. I cry in almost every episode because i feel like we, as spectators, get to know him so well and every episode you can always see how he evolves as a human being. It makes me so emotional for some reason.

By far this show truly does depict Autism. I watched the past 2 seasons and can relate to every episode. I have a child with Autism and he truly is an incredible actor...

When I read your first 2 sentences I was like "wow, how the fuck can you relate to this awful, harmful and extremely inaccurate show and character (100% walking stereotypes) that makes us all look like stupid, misogynistic, robotic, deeply selfish and insensitive assholes who just break into people's houses, can't know any better, etc" and then I saw your last sentence. -_-
If you are not autistic yourself, you don't get to tell for us what is and isn't a good representation of autism. You don't know, your comment is proof of that.
This character even is, by moments, the exact opposite of autism, and they wrongfully use it as exemples of "autistic behaviors", which is pretty ironical for a show trying to portray us. --'

@@mrslordi92 I have a friends who are autistic and one of them is so similar to the character Sam. I believe that there are so many different people and behaviorisms on the spectrum that you couldn't represent a whole community with one character. But this character does represent a part of it

It's just hard for him to read people's faces and emotions

Sam is one of my all time favorite TV characters. You can’t help but fall in love with him. Gilcrest deserves an award. He nailed the roll.
The time and effort the team put into this is insane; like they did it right: got experts and consultants and allowed Keir to get advice along the way. Also Keir’s consistency throughout the series was crazy, like I think even actors playing neurotypical roles even find it hard to play a character the same all the way through a series. Such a great show

He does such a good job at playing Sam I love the show and his character. I feel like he makes Sam seem endearing. Sam obviously cares about others but he just shows it in his own way just like people with Autism do.

atypical is the show on which i hit the replay button so many times. keir is just an amazing actor. i was fascinated of how perfect he played the role of sam. i watched some scenes over 20 times because i simply could not believe how great he was acting.

Just started watching this show yesterday at the gym at 2am and fell in love 🥰😁 finished watching it today n found out Season 4 begins this Friday n im so stoked! His acting is amazing 🥲
I think the way he represents people with ASD and Aspergers through his acting is wonderful and how loving people with ASD can be 🙂.
i just love how his character stays the same through out the seasons and doesn’t ever change his personality and the way he talks. he’s a really good actor.
I love him. I watched (and absolutely LOVED) It's Kind Of A Funny Story last year, and when I found this series, I was immediately excited about getting to see him act. What an amazing actor.
I laughed so much at Sam during Atypical, just his honesty is so funny.

obviously everyone who has autism is different but I feel like this show captured autism really accurately ya know? As someone w autism I actually teared up watching a lot of the episodes because of how much I related to Sam and the shit that he was going through. It like really resonated with me in the weirdest way. This guy did such an amazing job at playing Sam🥺
