To avoid (or fix) situations just like this, some States have changed their laws on the Statute of Limitations to start the limitation countdown timer from when the crime is discovered, not from when the crime occurred. Since dozens of Utah residents were defrauded, this would be a strong enticement to require their legislature to change these laws.
Several years ago we were shopping for a Class A motorhome and went to General RV. The sales person showed us a model he thought we should buy. When we told him we were shopping and would like to test drive the RV and compare with others he turned around and walked away and so did we. We went down the road and found a small RV center and they went out of their way to show us several models and arranged for test drives. When we told them we really wanted to keep shopping their response was that wanted us to be happy with a purchase and we should take our time. After a few more stops we returned bought one of the RV's we test drove. Their service was great and the model we bought had very few issues.
That same year, I was looking for a 35k and was the same year RVs were hard to get. The Tampa RV show had a six to nine month or longer waiting list. I found this one on their website and wanted to come see it. I live several hours away so they required me to put a $5,000 deposit down to hold it so I could see it. Once there, the salesman knew very little about the unit and they tried to pressure me to buy it, two year old 35K but I walked away because I felt they were wanting to get rid of it. I ran a CarFax on it and found out it had been in an accident with major front end damage, and that was not disclosed to me. It took a fight to get my money refunded to me so that really showed me what kind of dealership they really were. They shouldn’t be in business !!

General Rv is bad everywhere. My son and law had a miserable experience at General RV in Ocala Fl. short story is He took his motor home there to have a few things fixed. After 3 months go by, he had called 3 times. they never did anything. He went to pick it up. they didnt know where it was. Then they found it, then the manager came out to him and WOULD NOT GIVE HIM HIS KEYS BACK. They didnt know they were talking to the fixed operations Dir. at a local Toyota Dealer. He threatened to call the police, guess what, he got his keys back and left. Never to go back again. This is a true Story. This is the store where Matts RV Review is. Too bad.
@@laurakilmer8652 did they report him to general RV HQ? I’m thinking he’d get in trouble for that garbage. I wouldn’t throw out an entire company for 1 idiot. I would have called corporate and reported him.
Yea, well, lots of regulations didn't prevent VW from cheating on emissions, Hyundai from selling cars with grossly negligent theft protection measures, Takata from limiting the number of airbags they said they thought were defective to a small percentage of what actually were, GM from designing a new ignition lock but using the same part number as the previous one they knew was defective, Kia from cheating on horsepower and gas mileage, Mitsubishi from lying about their car's crash performance, Boar's Head from covering up sanitation violations until it was revealed by a food borne illness outbreak, and various food companies refusing to flavor enhancers, preservatives, dyes, etc, that they know are dangerous until the government makes them.
"The statute of limitations has passed." Legally, that means no crimes were committed and no further investigation will be done. Although the state DA could subpeona newer contracts and examine them, looking for a RICO fraud conviction.

We bought two campers from general rv back in the 90’s, went to get a bigger trailer. Service at the time started to decline, and I felt things were a little shady when we were ready to buy. We just decided go somewhere else, thank god I did.

When is General RV not in a scandal? (I truly detest the Endless RV folks - I was able to skip over most of their drivel). Plus this is an OLD story and balloon payments are not new. Probably a non-disclosure agreement was part of any resolution. As I mentioned before, consumers should be given a loan amortization table at the time of financing so they know what their loan balance will be at the end of each calendar year.
