Ryan Day loves to weave a narrative around a strawman.. We do not expect him to win every game. We expect him to win the majority of big games, he is expected win because he has better players than the teams he faces. he was was gifted Mark Pantoni, he was gifted Mick Marrioti, he was gifted Larry Johnson. Ohio State recruits itself, Ryan has had better players than Michigan, Ryan had players than Cristobal at Oregon but Mario is a tough coach and Mario’s team was just tougher than Ryan’s team not more talented. Ryan needed Utah’s starting QB to get injured to beat Utah… This is Ohio State we’re supposed to blow out Utah no excuses. Ryan had Chase Young, JK, Shaun Wade, Okudah and yet he still lost to Clemson. We had a more talented team than UGA.. Two 1st. rd. graded offensive tackles. 2nd. pick in the draft - QB. Best WR in years. Ryan lost with superior talent again. Ryan is defensive for a reason, he’s in over his head. Look at what BK is doing at LSU. Ryan has had had way more defensive talent than Lincoln Riley, yet they’ve had similar results. I could go on ad nauseam. Just like the results when Harbaugh beats Ryan by 25pts. with a lesser talented team.

Day has been the most forthright coach in these interviews. He gives you clear answers, no equivocating or coachspeak. I don't know if that ultimately serves him well or not, but I respect it much more than the guys whose top priority is speaking out against their own players getting maximum value.

The narrative around Day is interesting bc it's kinda that he took over Urban Meyer's already loaded program and hasnt been able to sustain the level they were at and has taken it downward. Here's some interesting numbers:
Urban Meyer 2015-2018: 45-6, 1 CFP appearance (31-0 loss), 1 horrendous hire at OC (Ed Warinner) that cost Ohio State badly post-2014
Ryan Day 2019-2022: 45-6, 3 CFP appearances (1-3 record), 1 horrendous DC hire (Kerry Coombs) that has cost Ohio State the last few years.
The only difference is Urban's teams were deficient on offense and Day's have been deficient on defense as well as Day losing to top 5 Michigan teams instead of losing by 30 to Iowa and Purdue. It just shows that The Game really is unequivocally the biggest rivalry in America bc by every metric outside of beating Michigan, Ohio State's program is in a better place now than it was when Day took over in 2019

These Day haters don't understand the bullet they dodged after injuries decimated the offense last season. OSU didn't come close to having half the players, who they expected to be key contributors, stay healthy. And as much as OSU is loaded at playmaker, you dont just "next man up" the losses of your; top 2 RBs, a Debo Samuels type hybrid, and a WR of JSN's caliber (Marv Jr wasnt his replacement). Then you add to that Fleming and Egbuka finishing so banged up they needed surgery and the too TE playing with a broken back. Day's offense was running at 70% capacity at best at yhe end of the season, but If GA, AL, Clemson or even MI lost similar production, they be lauded as "overcomers" if they won, or given a pass for the "devastation" done to their roster if they lost (and save the BS about strength and conditioning, a lot of these were freak circumstances, like a ref and 1st down marker and turf related injuries). This isn't going to happen every season. Theres going to be a time when everyone stays relatively healthy and the offense fully unleashed. Be ready, because even after this season theres Keinholz (already proving to be a baller) and Noland on deck to lead it, and they add a much more dynamic element with qb runs. And theres no worries with the defense. The improvement shown this year will only continue to get better as players come up in the system.

Georgia was missing A LOT of starters tf you talking about?! It’s 14 games into a season, EVERY team is missing key players, just some teams are better at “next man up” or changing their scheme to match the personnel they have left to work with

    • @BulletProofSoul1029

@@autonomouspilgrimage6137 Keep your skirt on kid, nobody is trying to take away Georgia's win. But if you think missing the best WR in football, a dude who was 1st off the board without barely playing a down, plus an all American caliber RB and another all conference RB is just another "next man up" situation, than you're foolish. I don't care who you think GA was missing, they're struggling against Marv, JSN and Trey, and that's not even including Pryor, who is an actual RB and 5x more dynamic than Xavier, the WR who was a match up nightmare for GA out the backfield. But again, nobody is saying Georgia didn't earn it, just that they didn't get close to seeing OSU's best. It'll be ok, let go of your pearls.

      @autonomouspilgrimage6137 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@BulletProofSoul1029 yeah of course you “don’t care what Georgia was missing” because that doesn’t fit your narrative son. They fact is they were missing their best pass rusher, had their best receiver on limited snaps, had their two back up edge rushers go down during the game as well as missing Darnell Washington who went out with stover. Georgias #1 receiver was playing on one leg and only played a few snaps, on top of a litany of other players that were either out or playing injured like jalen Carter who played with a high ankle sprain and a sprained mcl but decided to play through it instead of sitting out like JSN did.
You can cry about it injuries all day but the fact is it’s an excuse when your roster is loaded with the same talent that Georgia’s is….and it’s “next man up”.
Those injuries have nothing to do with your defense blowing two 14 point leads kid.

@@autonomouspilgrimage6137 Smart had no answer for an Ohio State team running on fumes, and if Day has a full tank with a full clip it woulda been even more of a challenge, believe that. Marv was cooking dudes like it's Thanksgiving and that's without GA having to worry about JSN. Xavier Johnson got the whole defense in a spin cycle and that's not even his gig. I'm not even getting to Emeka and Fleming catching balls with shoulders so bad each needed off season surgery. Ohio State was down to it's emergency RB who was just playing LB weeks before. Stop it. GA didn't get close to OSU's best, and I'll take my chances with 2 NFL tackles, especially one who was a 6th overall pick against whichever Edge missed the game over a hang nail. You won the game congrats. But let's stop acting like you smashed all OSU had to offer. Especially with how the game ended.

Georgia’s 4th option at receiver had them DB’s falling down and getting cooked along with a walk on receiver catching seam routes to get down to the 15 yard line to put the game away. Well spoken, intelligent answers and sounds like a leader. And...least we forget, a great coach that's very close to winning it all. But if you other guys want to focus on his LOOKS ? Go for it.

Did he hit a triple? Or just find himself standing on 3rd base? Ohio State ALWAYS has a huge talent advantage in the BIG10. They’d struggle winning either bracket of the SEC.

      You’re joking right?
      Ohio State has beaten Arkansas ( 2010), Alabama ( 2014), USC ( 2017), Oklahoma ( 2016), Clemson ( 2020)
They have had PLENTY of wins against top 5 / top 10 teams
Has Michigan beaten any top 5 teams outside of the Big Ten in the past 15 years????????

@markwilliams9963 well they beat ohio last 2 year. But hey I mean ohio is 2nd-3rd best team every year. Meanwhile tcu...... I mean wtf tcu

They would do well...but I gotta agree they wouldn't win the west for sure, maybe the east if Georgia was down....not a knock on osu its a credit to sec

Seeing how they were a missed field goal away this year. I’d say your theory is pretty asinine.

As a UGA fan. This comment is stupid 😅. Ohio State is a great program. Love when the competitiveness is there, makes college football great.

OSU will lose to ND, PSU and Michigan this year. OL and Defensive scheme is the issue with an inexperienced QB.
