I actually think it was Jensen himself who asked. He asked Kripke who he was friends with the 15 years they worked on supernatural together if he could be in the show. Kripke gave him the most iconic role in the boys universe, and rightfully so

Pretty sure that’s how it went down from memory. Kripke left supernatural after like season 5. But they were still friends and kept in touch.
Jensen knocked this out of the park, he always gave his all and I’m glad Kripke got him for this role, especially since they have worked before and could have been Captain America.

Think one of many reasons why Soldier Boy was the best part of season 3 is because for the last 2 seasons, we’ve been living in fear of Homelander and the 7 who have had an outrageous advantage over the good guys. So to get an absolutely bad ass character introduced that not only rivals Homelander but puts him and his team in fear and changers the hierarchy of power, knowing that there is a system of checks and balances in this world. Absolutely bad ass. Think the boys heavily fucked themselves over with how they treated soldier boy in the last episode though.
The Boys are stupid for that. But I guess the writers needed to split them up from Solider Boy. When they can't think of a good reason, you end up with something that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. They could of just agreed not to kill the child I'm sure. Must be a setup for next seasons plot.

I honestly think that when starlight was fighting Soldier Boy, she should’ve burnt his eyes out, blinding him, he would start to panic and charge up his nuclear power, then Maive would’ve had the chance to grab him and push him out the building. Instead she built up that power in that time and it did absolutely nothing to him, which makes her look weak.
To everyone who's worried they won't bring back Soldier Boy... of course they will. But for now, they need an excuse to make things harder for The Boys. nah if he grabbed a car by the frame he could toss it. especially one of those older cars from the 70s lol. and just for the record I think homelander could have stopped that plane all he had to do was spread out the impact of his hands against the plane by slowly applying force opposite the direction the plane was flying.
