  • I reveal what you can do with expired photo paper when I unboxed papers from Roland Risse, Ilford, Bromide and Orential. I uncover some ideas how to use these darkroom papers. Ideas such as doing Pinhole photography, using a color negative, the Lith process. Some history about Lith printing with Oriential Bromide papers and how Anton Corbijn got his style for 80's album covers and much more in this video.

I have both the Ilford Ilfospeed 2.24 and 3.35 but haven't tried them yet. I'm learning a lot from watching your channel. Thank you.

You're welcome!, Unfortunately Ilfospeed is a tricky one to Lith more often than not it's takes along time for infectious development to occur if at all. Few Ilford paper Lith old the really old stuff from the 60's will definitely Lith though.

I like your videos! I will be begin to experiment with lith process. What paper do you recomment that I can buy new right now? Fomatone 131/132? Ilford warmtone? Maybe something different?

Thank you! Most papers in 90's work well, as I don't use new papers at all. I just love the old stuff. You could try a second pass Lith - joesfilmphotoadv.wordpress.com/2015/01/31/second-pass-lith-prints/

@Gavin, I tried to buy some outdated Bromide photographic paper on eBay also. Unfortunately my searches returned with a bunch of over priced items. The sellers use keywords as " precious " or " rare " to describe the bromide paper they are selling. Could you share your sources of bromide paper and the keywords in your searches please?

Ah the good old vintage price hike.... Depending where you live in the world, it maybe better to look on second hand websites and even camera shops often sell off expired papers too. Even though I'm based in Austria, Germany's market is much larger so I often find plenty there. I know the UK and Australia are trickier but it's a matter of finding the right platform. For keyword searches try brand names you are interesting in such as Ilford and Kodak. I'd imagine the UK has plenty of Ilford and Kodak. It's always a bit of gamble but even completely fogged papers are good to learn with. I've two boxes of Kodak Polymax RC totally useless for printing but Lith really well.
