    I'm looking forward to trying these. I have gravitated to a similar nightcap to the Banana Boulevardier. It's a typical equal-parts recipe, but I sub out 1/3 of the Campari with Gran Classico and 1/3 of the Vermouth with PX Sherry.

    A negroni inspired nightcap I made recently was equal parts Irish Whiskey, Mr Black Amaro, and Rochester Old Jamaican Dark Ginger "Wine" (though I dont know how internationally available that last one is). I mixed it in a stirring glass and smoked it for fun.
    It was really tasty, like a spiced Irish Coffee.

    Hi Steve, no email received this week but pleased to see this post. The Banana Bouly looks good, though I might sub my home made Creme de Cassis for the Banana.
    The Mezcaletti looks short of an ingredient, 15ml dry Curaçao might add something, the Milano Torino needs gin to become a Negroni, the perfect nightcap!

    Milano-Torino (or Mi-To) Is a standard here in north Italy, I could suggest to try a different Vermouth than Martini, also classic Red Martini canonically is no longer a "Vermouth" cause the recipe was changed. I love using Punt-e-Mes in my Mi-To, a very good vermouth with stronger bitter fragrance but also Carpano or Cocchi are very good choice! Love your videos hope you all the good!

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've tried a handful of vermouths but I wish I had access to more.. I try and only keep one open at a time and Martini just happens to be the one I have open currently... cocchi di torino is next to be opened. Why is Martini not classified as a "vermouth"? They still market it as a "sweet vermouth" on their website.

    • @tiratore1
      @tiratore1 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@StevetheBartender_ it was the Turin company itself that took itself out of the game in 2023. The new recipe of the, in fact, has led to a lowering of the alcohol content, now at 14.4%. Technically, to be considered vermouth, a wine must have an alcohol content of at least 15.5%. Martini now, according to the statements of the managing director of Martini & Rossi, prefers to be defined as an aromatized wine. I will gladly try to send you some Bottles for free if you give me an Address in PM, I love your work it inspired me and helped me to take on a second casual job as a bartender!

    Great options for a nightcap! I'm not a fan of Campari (it's far too bitter for my taste). I've had a Boulevardier, which I liked more than the Negroni (but not by much), so I'm curious how the banana liqueur would change the taste. I love mezcal so I'm definitely going to try the Mezcaletti. I think I'll pass on the Milano-Torino.

  • @thejontao

    I’d call Campari and Vermouth an Americano… but I don’t seem to share the majority opinion on that.
    I know that some people will throw a splash of soda water in their Americanos… some will completely drown it in soda water (disgusting)… but for me, Vermouth and Campari is “the” Americano.
    I know Wikipedia gives a different origin story, but the origin story that I’m familiar with is that Italians drink Amaro, which is too strong for Americans, and in the typical European fashion of naming things Americano because it’s watered down for American tastes, if you water down your Amaro with Vermouth, you get the Americano. But I’m no mixological historian.
