Intellectual Integrity - The discipline of striving to be thorough and honest to learn the truth, a driving desire to follow Reason, Rationality and Evidence courageously wherever they may lead.

@HamzaJulfi If you think the world is flat it doesn't mean that the world is flat in reality. Please pamper yourself a bit and find out how Richard Dawkins has torn apart many Muslim intellectuals like Mehdi Hassan, Hamza Toztriz and other mullahs. None of them were able to refute a single argument from Richard Dawkins, virtually none of them!
He has mastered theology, religion and philosophy, yet you are saying that he is not aware of it. I don't know how someone can be so confused, it's as if you are living in the bubble of your dreams, where every Muslim is morally right regardless of their deeds (be it a rapist, murder or criminal) ) and every non-Muslim is a sinner and immoral, be it rational, logical, has committed no crime and has done much for the welfare of humanity.

    Muzammil ji,
Very nicely explained. I was a critical thinker from the time since I remember. Till the age of 17-18 I wanted to be a scientist as had a scientific approach to everything. However due to monitory reasons could not become what I had wanted and joined more lucrative merchant navy. To day at the age of 65 again I am trying to be a critical thinker. Thanks to the Internet/TH-cam I can understand the world much better today. Still a long way to go.
    Love your every talk.

Thanks Muzamil, a rare video that kindles a chain of thoughts. It sheds light on some issues that always baffled me. Like, why even some Scientists too, get carried away with political rhetoric; at times under the garb of religion. A scientific reason for why some people are logical while most aren't, you say is because of the pre-frontol brain that facilitates rational, critical thinking. It is not so dominant in most. That this part developed only recently is understandable. Culture, religion too plays a part says Philosopher, Bertrand Russell. This explains why Europe and America have progressed and prospered so much. There are a few Buddhist pockets in South East Asia like Japan and South Korea too. For ages, all living beings' cognitive abilities were linked to survival and hence, fear was the predominant instinct. That is why, everyone, from ants, birds to elephants stay in flocks and herds. The behaviour, the thinking and tribal instincts of fear and survival remain the same in all. The one who strays, becomes the prey.
However, with human civilization, with safe settlements, science and technology we have warded off most of the existential fears; from other living forms and nature. Yet, these fears remain dormant deep inside. They haunt us for all our lives. The later evolution of pre frontal brain rationalises the fear and helps in critical thinking. Organisations and Cults are vehemently against questioning. Science however favours questions as it wants to evolve and progress. It has no vested interests unlike organised set-ups which have; especially, the top hierarchy. Then, there are people whose minds lusts for power, they want to control and live with pomp and glory - they restrain critical thinking; often with an iron hand. These individuals become kings, emperors, top political leaders or form religious & ideological cults. These few people exploit primordial tribal fears lying latent in dormant regions of people's brain. They incite fear of 'others' with propoganda and fan the sparks that can later blow into huge fireballs and infernos. They don't care, they will be safe. All this is done to get a huge population, a big army of so incited people behind them so that they can get control of the reins of power. They can then perpetuate this fear by fanning the flames regularly. The irony of all this is that people who seek safety from non-existent fears, are themselves actually creating it through 'leaders' who were supposed to be their saviours!
Such is human mind. Leaders have been playing with it for ages for power and glory. Anyone who tries to change the status quo for the benefit of the masses is made an outcast, purged, jailed or killed. World's greatest philosopher who taught Scepticism and rational thinking, Socrates, was asked to change or consume poison; he chose poison to an irrational life. Scientist, Galileo Gallilei escaped with a long prison term. Similar has been the lives and travails of numerous saints and sages; from Sant Dyaneshwar, Tukaram, Mahatma Gandhi here to Jesus in Jerusalem.
The existing power centers do not want harmony, reasoning and logic to prosper. They will instead peddle mythology and irrational beliefs to keep the masses engrossed in opiums that deter the brains from critical thinking. This prevents the overturning of their precious apple cart. They continue to enjoy power and wealth until someone more powerful comes along.
This is the main reason for rational reasoning, for critical thinking, not evolving in a big way. This logic is allowed in science and technology as it does not alter the political status quo. In fact, it abetts it by creating advanced defense system and innovative products to keep the masses busy, happy and contended.
Yet, history is a witness that logic and rationality finally does dawn upon a society leading to peace, harmony and prosperity. Sometimes at a collosal price; like in the case of Germany and Japan.
Thank you for this video that should make every person think.

A wonderful message Muzammil. I have been a firm believer of critical thinking and that is why I had said to my children when they were kids that you are born in a Muslim family but become a Muslim on your own accord not because of parentage. I at 14 had challenged my inherited Belief within me (you don't have to announce it), challenged it worked on it for years and then having been convinced, finally reiterated/rejuvenated my Shahada in my privacy. My spiritual world opened up avenues that only I know.

    • @priyad3719
      @priyad3719 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

You cannot do that being in islam... You should practice spirituality in some other religion.... Islam is dangerous... For mankind... For World... Please don't take it personally.. But there are chances while being in islam your kids can be influenced by you relatives society and can be made radical. .. Chances of being radical are much lesser in other communities/religions...muslims generally don't want to accept this. But truth is truth... Apologies if I have hurt you through my words 🙏

and the first step for critical thinking is actually challenging because one cannot easily change the Brians of learners, so in order to make students think critically I asked them to think about right and wrong and so it worked, though it is challenged by old teachers but I am happy that at least it worked 😊

    Hi Muzammil,
Thank you for such an informative and educating video. Hope your channel can grow further and help us devlop our minds, if you can reply to my question below that would be really helpful.
As you said every idea and thought should be questioned by the logic, I would like to know how to answer the cliche religion question.
Whenever we argue against any teaching of religion specifically Islam, everyone answers that you don't find logic in terms of religion and we don't have enough knowledge yet to understand everything about religion. Whereas my logical thinking doesn't agree with some of the thoughts. What to do in such scenario? Go with my logical thinking or just blindly accept the teaching.
