Your video helped me get my white Dark Evolution 6 months ago. I’ve been watching this on repeat again because I have the blue one on order. Thanks Lobster!
Hey Lobster, the last six months I have been tossing up between a sterling, mim pbass and sire jazz and you sold me on this one in under 20 minutes. Purchased the black one, only had white and black as options. If the build quality is as good as you say I think the mighty power bass will be on it's way in the new year as well. Cheers and love your channel
Just ordered one! Watching this getting 5 claws and hearing you talk about how easy it is to play sold me. Watched some of the factory videos too, I’m so impressed and can’t wait for this beast to get here.

Thanks for the G.A.S. You “blankety blank” sea bug! Edit/update: THANK GOODNESS! 19mm string spacing on the five string model! That saves me! I do Music man 5 spacing so I’m out of the bass lust forest with this one!
:) Glad you enjoyed it! It really is just a pleasure to play. I didn't know it was 19mm for the 5'ers... I'm intrigued even more. I bay be snagging one soon :)
I'm impressed by how nice it sounds when you play if softly. The dynamic range is really nice. Tonally, I think I like the mighty-P you reviewed a bit more.
Thanks John! I agree, this edges the MP out in range and feel IMO, but the MP with the twin P's edged this out in tone. Both are punching well above their price/weight however :)
If it weren't for the anatomically abysmal Jazz-shaped body I would seriously consider one of those. It's gorgeous and I like the open-ness and richness of the sound so much but I only play sat and Jazz-shaped bodies create immense neck dive because of the positioning of the thigh contour towards the bridge.

Hey Patrick! I have not yet, honestly I heard the Michael Kelly brand has made a bit of a resurgence since just making weirdly inlaid acoustics back 15 or so years ago (looks like they still make em!). Looks like they make some J's too!
Hey LEL, I just purchased this bass in white and it’s on its way to me from Japan. Been watching this video on repeat! I have a question, did you change the strings or are they stock ones? I have tried it in Japan a couple of years ago and I remember it being very clanky sounding probably due to the fact that it has D’Addario Steels on them. Surprisingly it doesnt sound as clanky in your video!

@@LowEndLobster hey LEL. it’s me again. my bass is currently stuck in transit and to keep my enthusiasm and anticipation in check, I’d like to ask a question regarding the bass. how do you rate its fit and finish to your other more expensive basses, in particular the Musicman Stingray? I had a Stingray Special and a Sandberg VM4 that I sold off recently and coming from those basses which had stellar worksmanship, I hope I wont be dissapoonted with the FGN feeling “less premium”. Thanks LEL!
Hey lobster! Had my heart set on a ray34, snd now ive been watching this vid on repeat. With the emg humbucker at the bridge on this, is it possible to dial in to a tone similar to that on a ray34? If yes, i know shich one im getting! Thanks man and have a happy new year!
Thanks Richard! Great question, they're very different in their tone but the output would be similar IMO. This has a passive control setup like a traditional Jazz, but IMO the tones you get are much more modern and less classic compared to something like a Geddy. That being said, this FGN doesn't sound 100% hifi and is very usable in all situations.

Hi Lobster and thanks again for those great videos ! There is another model from the same Mighty bass line with Seymour Duncan pickups instead of EMG (Seymour Duncan® SJB-3 (Quarter Pound and humbucker Seymour Duncan® SMB-4d). I’m trying to figure how different it would sound compare to your. What do you think ? Thanks !
If you were to have a choice between that circular fret system and a normal fret system (I assume the circular fret system may cost more to do fret levels and refrets), would you choose to keep the CFS?
Nice sounding bass! I had a quick question about the controls... When you pull out the coil split knob (parallel mode) can you still adjust the volumes for each pickup independently? Or are both pickups now tied together?
Great question, you can still adjust the pickup volumes independently. With my Neo Classic (Geddyzilla), the push pull tone knob gives you a series options where both pickups essentially act as one and you can no longer adjust them independently.
I got a question I really like what I heard from this bass. However I have not been able to find one to buy. I did manage to find a mighty jazz with the Seymour Duncan pickups with a music man/ jazz pickup config. I am interested in swapping those out with EMGs. I know you talked about swapping yours out so I wonder what you went with?
@LowEndLobster , I have this bass, but with Seymour Duncan pickups. I believe I have some problems with circuit. Can you please try to switch the bridge to the single coil mode and set neck pickup volume to 0% and bridge volume to 100%? Do you have sound? Because looks like this push-pull tap completely disables one of the controls in my instrument. Very strange, never saw anything like this before
Hey Cyril! Check out my review of the SD model (the JMJ)- th-cam.com/video/ZY8TkTiDgUI/w-d-xo.html. The push/pull has a different function vs the EMG model and puts BOTH pickups in series together as one large pickup. When that mode is engaged, the neck volume control becomes the master and the bridge volume control does nothing. They released the new JMJ2 which has a series/parallel switch for the bridge pickup instead of putting both pickups in series together. I hope that helps!

Do you like it better than the P-Zilla Power P?
They're very different. I'd say this is a more neutral bass where as the mighty power is more "rock" IMO
Agree with you this is a real good bass
Looks and sounds amazing, do you know where to get these that ships worldwide?
Link updated in the description. Kurosawa gakki is on reverb, both their site and the reverb shop linked :). There's one blue one like this available right now.
@@LowEndLobster thank you 👍
How long does it take to get this one from Japan? Or is there a USA supplier?
Took about a week from Kurosawa Gakki
You like that bass I take it? Personally I've never heard of them but you can bet I will be looking into them net time i go to town.
Very much. The FGN brand as a whole is definitely worth exploring if you get the opportunity. From the entry-level Boundary all the way to the top of the line Expert series, the craftsmanship and attention to detail is apparent!
I’m confused didn’t you say it was totally passive ?
I think I said passive-ish, meaning the V/V/T control setup. You usually see active pickups paired with a preamp.
This pickup is active? is the one that using the battery? or the battery is optional?
These are active pickups
does you FGN have gaps between neck and body?
Just need to find out the weight of the bass. Thanks. 🙏🏽
9.2 lbs on my bathroom scale that I use for all my weigh-ins.
@@LowEndLobster Thanks. Great bass channel by the way. Fun & meaningful. Have you thought about reviewing Maruszczyk basses? Peace ✌🏽.
Man, there is an awful lot of "breathing" compression in the playing samples. I've noticed this recently on another Lobster video. Is this a youtube thing, or might you perhaps have a bit too aggressive compression when recording?
This. This is the bass I'm getting.
IMO you are confusing coil tap and coil split here. Great review though. Very helpful
No IMO needed, you're right! Updating description. Thanks for the correction :)
I love EMG and Delano.
Thanks Richard! Me too :)... well some EMGs I don't love, but I've liked a lot of the recent one's I've played with.
Is The neck suitable for short fingered bass players?
I'd think so, if you're going for a full scale instrument. 38mm nut width and modern J profile.
@@LowEndLobster somekind of trick to have string spacing and smooth neck. I am adding to this bass a boss bass eq pedal
@@LowEndLobsterhas the black one with matching headstone the same neck ?
@@MzuMzu-nx1em Yes
FGN is clearly a great, high quality Japanese brand. It's time though to review some Yamahas!
Thanks Maruniku! Yammy vid getting shot tomorrow ;), you're going to like it!
If it weren't for japanese metalcore, then I wouldn't even know this bass exists
This brand definitely flies under the radar.
I want one!
:)
Reminds me of a Sandberg (in appearance at least)
Thanks Kevin! You're not the only one who said that. I definitely see it.... man I want to get my claws on a Sandberg too.
What pickups/ preamp in it?
EMG J and MM TW active pickups, no preamp.
The design is just superb, I'm so sad the tone doesn't fit me. It's just to crisp for me.
Thanks! They have another similar model that uses Seymour Duncan passive pickups instead of the EMGs here. I really love the design of these though. FGN did such a good job not only designing but building these. Great attention to detail and quality.
Hey man you mind if I steal that from you? Nah I'm joking but to be serous that sounds incredible I want it so bad
Buy up braggin rights - get it in a 5

Sure is a looker!
Thanks Buggy :)
💙👊😎
:) I need to revisit this
It is tight.
Thanks Richard. I need to do a revisit on this bass
Damn you lobster!! Now I'm contemplating crap fiscal decisions!!
Is that a bone nut or plastic? (at that price point I honestly don't care)
:) I think bone? Not sure though
同じベースを持ってるのに、なんで音がこんなにもクリアなんだろう?
俺のはすごく、こもっててモコモコする
おそらくあなたのひも?
@@LowEndLobster You can say "strings = 弦 (gen)" instead of "strings = ひも (himo)".
Fuji "gen" (FGN) also means Fuji stringed instrument manufacturing company.
Anyway, thank you for reviewing FGN's bass guitar!
Thank you!
@LowEndLobster @Hisashi SASAKI
Thank you for your reply comments!
After this, try replacing the strings.

Hey Lobster) What amp do you use here?
