Soooo got one of these for Christmas and my young boys (myself as well) love it. It broke in the way that it won’t play a game. As soon as you start up a game, it basically resets itself instantly. Has anyone had this issue?
@@mightypanda54 I haven't, granted I've only played maybe a dozen games on it. If it were me, I'd go back to the store and exchange it for another one.
Update: Got it working again--not exactly sure what we did.I took the thing apart (took the back off, looked around, sort of spun one of the gears connected to the motor a tiny bit). But after we screwed the back back on we also pressed the reset button--maybe that's what ultimately fixed it. We'll see how long this lasts...
Most people, myself included, could never dream of buying a real full size pinball machine but there has to be a way of creating a premium tabletop game that sells for a few hundred bucks.
You beat me to it, I came here to say this. This is how professionals put giant decals on...anything (I have a friend in the signmaking business that told me this many years ago)
This is pretty cool, I like how they actually put in the effort to add proper sound effects, LED scoring, and playfield lights. It would be even cooler if there was an XL version with ramp shots, legs, and a backbox, I used to have something similar as a kid but it was racing themed and it even had a LCD DMD with fun shapes and patterns. Ive seen those digital ones but nothing beats having a real ball.
@@SirAzur3 the digital pinball recreations from Zen, Arcade1Up, and others are impressive. But just not for me. I gotta feel the flippers. Feel the vibrations. And like you said, nothing beats having a real ball. I was running out of room in my gameroom, so I was pretty excited to find a decent sized mechanical pinball machine that was also Pac-Man themed 😁

It's not the motor you're hearing but the gears, alot of these pinball tables are cloned from old Tomy designs which at the time they were designed limited by the electronics they can have so they'd use a single motor through several gearboxes (which was quite clever for its day) and they've kept most of it the same, just replacing the second score motor with a digital set up, adding features like the lights and making them more power efficent. Some of the originals are over 40 years old and still going so I wouldn't worry and should something fail the part will likely be avalible.

@@FeralInferno theres a few videos out there with a view inside, this one and its Neon sister look to be based on the Astro Shooter family (several variants over the years including a Coca Cola one that can go for as much as a true pinball table) and then the non 'pro' versions that are based on the Atomic Pinball family, as yet no one seems to have cloned the more unique ones which is a shame as the Sonic one would probably suit your collection (it will however make that Pac Man one seem silent as it has an increddibly loud spin feature).
Nice review! Tomy Astro Pinball is the original form the 80's and it has amazing laser sound effects when it hits the bumpers. The kickout holes also really pumps the score up in a thumping and aggressive way, which feels great. The sound effect on the bumpers seem to be missing on this one. The original also came in three types of skins for the space version, another skin called American Pinball(my personal favourite looking skin), Pirates of The Caribbean, Coca Cola (lovely looking but rare) and a cheaper cut down version which I think had some sort of sports skin but they removed the mechanical bumpers from what I remember.

I like it, feral. I love anything pac-man, so I'm really digging this. Shame about the stickers though. Yeah, these mini pinball machines can be hella loud. I had one that was so loud i had to give it to my nephew because i knew it would annoy his mother.😂

Did you know this is an updated version of Tomy's Astroshooter from the 80's which was also loud? Personally I'd put up with the loudness because I think the gameplay is far superior to other games that use "springs" as bumpers. Overall I think they did a fantastic job bringing the older design into the digital age and definitely will be getting one. I wish the stickers came pre-applied though because I KNOW I would have as much fun as you did getting those side decals on properly LOL.

I was thinking this reminds me of the Tomy games... I own that Astroshooter got it up in the closet somewhere. I own the Atomic one too... those were innovative for their time.

Mod podge is your best sticker friend. i use it on all of my Lego. just coat the back of the sticker and stick it on. you have about 30 seconds of "sliding" around time to get it perfect, and once on, its forever.
I will gladly pay extra $$ for quality. If I am going to purchase a product such as this, I want it to be the best value possible - not necessarily the cheapest!

@ definitely. The only big difference between them is the score board. I love the new score board with VFD effects, just wish they had some pac man animations in the same design on the pinball surface.
I would buy this for 49.99 US, to hang on the wall as art in my arcade, and or turn it on for attract mode, or, leave it in the box and on a shelf for the toy room as a pac man collectors item. I would never play it.
the upper flipper does't give you a shot to anything and the programming could be a lot better eg shoot the lit shot ,,, skill shot on the rollovers ,,, good video
@@madgamer3974 there is one really tight spot to hit in the upper-lefthand corner that puts you in power pellet mode. It takes a pretty precise shot to hit (or in my case luck lol). Thanks for watching, more Pac-Man to come soon!

@@FeralInferno the best mod you can make is to put some masking tape over the speaker grill, quietens it right down to an acceptable level. I plan to pop the back off and add a potentiometer so I can control the volume.

Its still a lot better than those super hero / movie theme stand up machines they put out with plastic ramps - physics are totaly wrong and there is not much going on other than hitting the ball at acrylic plastic... and those were $200 retail I believe. They all have same playfield just different themes.

This just happened to us--It counts down and the motor doesn't turn on at all and it just resets back.

Use a water and washing liquid solution to make the stickers slideable into the correct location.

@@Eternyl_bliss-nj9se I'll have to look into those, but sounds like they weren't worth the $200. The gameplay on the Pac-Man is solid, albeit the motor noise was awful lol.
