For the people who are saying that this song still fits in our time, that's because this song do not describe the dark human history, it only shows the chaotic human nature. UPDATE: I never said that it's ok to live like this. With chaotic human nature I mean that we can be unpredictable as f, our conscience is the most incredible thing we have, but as we are neither or good or evil, that allow us to do the most terrible thing or the kindest one. Is in our conscience to take the reins of ourselves and our society. The people need to accept that we have been a destructive species and do better (The people who are helping the world understand that in their own way). We humans aren't perfect and we'll never be; idealize an achievement like "World peace" is not gonna help us with anything, work constantly in ourselves and in our world will do that (I like to think that, even if commonly humans want to have easy answers). The entire life has chaos, all the living things have.
La Quimera Dice: Para las personas que dicen que esta canción encaja con nuestro tiempo, es porque esta canción no describe la historia oscura de la humanidad, solo enseña lo caotico que puede ser la raza humana.
i think the song criticize, indirectly, this kind of argument: its in human nature, humans are like that so its ok to be this way. We make a discourse about how we are more evolve, over the years, and naturalizing the atrocities that we make, because... why do we have to change? why this is bad? we are inherently like that, we are just following our nature...
@@marcosnobuhara1126 I never said that it's ok to live like this. Have you noticed how every single autrocity in the video is committed by white people? Every other race depicted is innocent victim. It wasn't done by mistake, it is a part of the narrative.
The most chilling part of this for me might be the little girl that runs through the field and steps on a landmine. In France there are GIANT stretches of land where you can tour the trenches, but the tops are chained off because there's still unexploded landmines all over the field
I like that I was able to recognize some of Todd McFarlane's art style, he did the Spawn series and Korn's Freak on a leash The Death girl was definitely influenced by Kevin Altieri (Batman The Animated Series)
This video always puts me in a terrible mood, mostly sadness and anger but that's what's art it's supposed to do: Evoke emotion within you. It's a total masterpiece and everyone should watch it at least once in their life
Yea, this song and video definitely puts me in a "humanity is a piece of shit and we should all burn" edgelord type of mood. I recommend washing it down with Dan Bull's "Civilization" rap which paints humanity in a slightly more positive light, highlighting some of the greater accomplishments of humans with an overall message of "think of all the great and amazing things we have done and can do... when we're not being total assholes to each other."
fun fact: the argentine ants (Linepithema humile) alone are more numerous than all humans combined and most of them form a single colony spanning 4 continents
It's funny that years later and despite having no idea, I finally found where my profile picture came from. I just found an animated gif that looked cool and just ran with it.
The scene with the girl running through the field always gives me chills. Even the most innocent, carefree act can be horrifically destructive in ways we don't even comprehend. Such is the way of the universe.

The animated music video for "Do the Evolution" was co-directed by Kevin Altieri, known for his direction on Batman: The Animated Series, and Todd McFarlane, better known for his work with the popular comic book Spawn and Korn's 1999 "Freak on a Leash" video.[10] The video was produced by Joe Pearson, the president of Epoch Ink animation, and Terry Fitzgerald at TME. It was written and developed by Pearson and Altieri with input from McFarlane and Vedder.[10] The total production time on the music video was 16 weeks.[10] The animation pre-production was produced by Epoch Ink Animation at their studio in Santa Monica, California. Under Altieri and Pearson’s supervision the Epoch team boarded and designed the short in less than six weeks.[10] Once McFarlane, Vedder, and Sony gave their final approvals, the short was taken to Korea by Altieri and Pearson for animation at Sun Min Image Pictures and Jireh Animation. Over a four-week period, a team of more than one hundred artists worked to deliver the finished animation.[10]

The entire life has chaos, all the living things have.
no se ingles pero i am pregunton
La Quimera Dice: Para las personas que dicen que esta canción encaja con nuestro tiempo, es porque esta canción no describe la historia oscura de la humanidad, solo enseña lo caotico que puede ser la raza humana.
i think the song criticize, indirectly, this kind of argument: its in human nature, humans are like that so its ok to be this way. We make a discourse about how we are more evolve, over the years, and naturalizing the atrocities that we make, because... why do we have to change? why this is bad? we are inherently like that, we are just following our nature...
There's no single human nature, we can be selfish and altruistic. Stop blaming our nature, we have control if we wanted it.

The concept of virtual reality is way older than that tho
Matrix?
@@RG-zt4ox Yeah, that too. Great film. I meant VR as being used for entertainment
There were virtual reality headsets in the 90's, I tried one on at a convention, ran on a $100k+ computer though.
The idea of VR was hugely popular for a period in the 90's, though the execution was lacking.
This video clip is one of the best in existence as it shows reality in the most direct way. Human nature is violent and selfish and never changes despite advances in science and technology over time. It always ends corrupted by power.
The fact that they depict Death enjoying the chaos in all the eras, shows how she is the only victor among the cruel acts of mankind. Definitely a masterpiece.
Yeah but let's be honest: most animals are selfish and violent. We just happened to be the one who had opposable thumbs
@@flightlessboy4040 You have a good point, but the difference is that animals act on instinct and we have the ability to reason, which sadly is used mostly for twisted purposes.
@@weitwegvondir fair point but is it instinct for a dolphin to kill fish for fun? Is it instinct for a crow to grieve ? We know both of these things aren't done for survival. The average animal isn't locked to instincts as much as we'd like to think.
@@flightlessboy4040 I would have to agree. They just have less power and lower IQ, but if we're real about it they are no less selfish than humans. Could you imagine swarms of bugs with the same IQ and size as humans? That would become like a movie real quick. (the Zerg from the video game Starcraft come to mind) :/.
Haha, this chump hasn't heard the good news
Ultimately, no evil compares to the evil we inflict on each other, simply because we can.
