In 2021, the 11 finally got their moment of silence at the Opening Ceremony.
I was a 10 year old sports fan that summer and I was completely flummoxed by the news. I couldn’t wrap my head around it, and the adults I encountered didn’t seem to understand what was going on either. What a horrible event.
I visited in April the Munich Olympic park, which is a very beautiful park and then went over and visited the memorial They should’ve had that memorial put up earlier. The saddest day in Olympic history. 😢
Ankie Spitzer is a bulldog for justice! What a shame that Golda Meir's offer to send help was continually rejected by the Germans who had no experience in dealing with this sort of terrorism at that time. Perhaps it would have turned out differently. Well done documentary.
Thanks for you thoughts. We're thrilled you liked it.
THERE IS SOMETHING MORE UNDERLYING THAN THE GERMANS JUST REJECTING THE HELP OF ISRAEL
What a surprise that the Germans continually rejected Meir’s offers of assistance - I’m shocked, shocked to find there’s gambling going on in here …
The Germans did not want to offend the Arab oil states.
Actually the Germans did, as seen in the seizure of a highjacked plane on the tarmack of Mogadiscio, Somalia, a little after Munich.
Good job on this. I was just starting ❤10th grade in the USA and remember this well. It was horrifying that it could happen in the Olympic Village and at an event of peace and brotherhood. The world needs to remember. RIP to the eleven and condolences to the families and friends and all of Israel.😢😢
I don’t care if I’ll offend anybody when I say this this is my opinion I think at every Olympic Games there should be a moment of silence and these 11 Israeli Olympians names should be read aloud for all to hear and let’s not forget the German police officer that lost his life as well and if it pisses off the world, too bad, we must not forget
How is that controversial. Every normal human being on the planet would agree with you.
Every insane evil human being on the planet would disagree with you.
Much respect
I absolutely agree 💯
Great idea! I wonder if we should also remember and celebrate the lives of the American Olympic team members who all died in a plane crash, on their way to the Olympics. Just a consideration. I suppose, at the least, I can always take a personal moment, at the Olympics' beginning, to remember and honor all of the above, even if I am not joined by the Olympic collective. Thx for the idea!
@@stephaniek1076 If you're talking about the ice skating team in the early 60s there's plenty of remembrances every winter Olympics as well as books movies etc. anyone who follows the winter games knows about that.
Fascinating documentary. I was a mere toddler when this occurred and do not remember it happening. Not surprised that the “Palestinian perspective” was filled with lies and deflection of guilt. Some things never change.
TRUTH. It's as true today as it was then. Cowards.
I too was only 8 yrs old & watching the excitement of Olympics & diff sports to watch. Then suddenly everything changed & while I was too young understand I knw something horrific happened! 🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙💙💙🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱✡️
The "Palestinian perspective" is the "Muslim perspective": a refusal to allow jews to live in their own country in the middle east. When the Muslims make peace the Palestinians will have their own state. But we all know its going to take centuries for that to happen.
btw, if you and your family had to live the way the Israeli's have since their inception you would be one hundred more times brutal to the palestinians. As you know jews are some of the most caring and sensitive people on the planet. but you probably hate jews hence your statement.
And Isreal have a right to capture their land???? Your shitty mind
I wasn’t even alive, my parents had just got married literally the year before. I remember watching Seconds from Disaster I believe on it and hearing about David Berger, the American who was killed. My jaw dropped on the ground learning about this. They aren’t asking for much, a moment of silence each Olympics? Not much.
Excellent document, needs to be seen by everyone thank you !
This should be watched by every human to understand that this has been going on for longer than many would believe. I was not born yet but my Grandpa and father told me about this when I got older and I asked why they were telling me this and they said because it is important that you know EVIL exists in the world and it does not stop.
This EVIL came back on 7 October
The evil has existed ever since the lands were stolen and mutliple massacres are genocides were inflicted upon the palestinian people. The plaestinians did not kill jews in concentration camps..that was the GERMANS.
Evil commited upon by the jews by Germany is taken out on innocent Palestinians.
This Olympic massacre is shameful and deplorable, but are the actions of the Israeli government is absolutely Evil.
@@stephangeffre7781it started in 1947. Saoirse don Phalaistīn 🇵🇸❤️🕊️🇮🇪
@@GrainneScarlett No it started long before that. Three seminal events occurred leading to the conflict: 1) The Roman Emperor Hadrian resolved to stamp the Jews and their religion out of existence. He sold all Jewish prisoners into slavery, forbade the teaching of the Torah. He renamed the province Syria-Palaestina, and changed Jerusalem’s name to Aelia Capitolina. Synagogues were replaced with Roman temples and Jews were persecuted and driven off the land. 2) Arab Muslims conquered the land that is Israel in the 7th century during the Islamic Rashidun caliphate Umar (634-644). After the Rashidun caliphate Jews and Christians were ruled by Arab Muslims until the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire (1517-1917). 3) The Jewish people claimed statehood in 1948 and defended themselves against the Palestinian militia and surrounding Arab countries armies reclaiming their ancestral homeland after 1,400 years.

I had just moved to the Munich area the Summer of 1972 with my family as my Dad was stationed there. For the first time, German TV had been showing the Games all day long. We did not have tickets to the Games but we were near the Olympia Park. When the terrorist attacked occurred, it was horrible. I will never ever forget watching all the news reports with the pictures of the burnt out helicopters 🥺🥺💔😥🙏Sadly the Germans were completely unprepared as they did not expect and attack. Also, at the time, the Germans did not have a Delta Force or SAS SWAT team. After this attack the Germans developed a top SWAT team over the next 5 years and in fact trained with the IDF.
He called them Palestinian fighters instead of terrorists, shame
The Centennial Park bombing at Atlanta 1996 probably forced his hand, but Samaranch did mention the Munich massacre in his speech at that closing ceremony, and they did a moment of silence to honor victims of both attacks. I remember Bob Costas speaking of the significance of this being the first time the Munich tragedy was even publicly recognized by the IOC.
Agreed.
@@gerrythrash6563 it wasn't a tragedy. It was a heinous massacre. Earthquakes are tragedies. Floods are tragedies. This was a savage massacre.

I am glad someone made this documentary. It is a story that needs to be told.

Every time I hear about these Olympics, I am so sad for those who went through something so sad and painful.
And now I won't just be sad. I will be angry! Because not only did it happen, we were lied to about it afterward. The whole world was lied to AFTER the fact, when they think people didn't care anymore. We care! And THEY may have forgotten the details, but I can assure you -- we will not forget!!

The graffic images are necessary, as sickening and painful as they are. But they prove an important point- these are never mere "acts of resistance, we had no choice!". This is fueled by unfathomable hate. Very eerie resemblance to other images I've seen from the October 7th attacks. Castration included.

I was 7 and excited to watch the Olympics. This was my introduction to the “Palestinian cause”. I didn’t know it then, but it made a lifelong impression and not a favorable one.
The Olympic opening ceremony can blaspheme Christ but can't observe one minute of silence for 11 lives brutally ended...what an upside down world we live in.
They didn’t blaspheme anyone. The motif was based on a painting of a Greek bacchanal.

How could it have not been reported at the time or for decades later that the savages had castrated Romano? This was always horrible enough how it was reported. That detail takes it to a new level.
