Pouring Ready-Mix Paint Over a Tumbler and Onto A Canvas - How Cool Is That!?

  • I have poured my own mixed paints over a tumbler before, and the results were lovely (see video here: • Paint Pouring Over a S... ). But this time I tried it with DecoArt Fluid Art Ready-to-Pour Paint, and the results were even better! The SS Tumbler gods were quite impressed.
    Check out some of the items I've made, listed in my Etsy store:

    I love Swirls! Mostly swirls of color, but really any swirls at all - I think they add a beauty and grace to everything. So after I started making soap a few years ago, and needing some sort of biz name that didn't sound like everyone else's version of suds-r-us, I decided on Luxinda Swirl. Luxinda is a twist on my real name, and I quickly started putting swirls of color in all of my handmade soaps.
    Now I'm branching out a bit, and I want to keep adding swirls to everything I do!

    I like the look of the DecoArt vs the Arteza paint. I really like this set.

    Do you resin the canvas? How long do you let dry before putting resin on tumbler?
    Byw, I watch all your videos. I love how you try new things and explain each step.

      Thank you so much!! I don’t often resin my canvases, I usually use spray varnish. As for the tumbler, I let it dry at least overnight before resining, often a couple days or longer, depending on how thick the paint was. If the paint isn’t completely dry, the resin layer over top will start to get cloudy, so always better to wait. Thanks again!

    Very pretty. Do you have a video showing how to resin after the paint is dried on the tumbler?

      Thank you! And good question! I should, so let me take a look and get a link for you.

      Well, apparently I don’t have a video of resining a tumbler after pouring paint! I used to do so much paint pouring, I figured I must’ve gotten something on video. But no! I guess I’ll have to make a video of that, which should be fun ‘cuz I haven’t paint poured in quite awhile. Thanks for your question!

    Are you able to make cells on a tumbler like a canvas

    • @Luxinda
      @Luxinda  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question! I have never tried, so I’m not sure. My guess is that once the paint is on the tumbler, you could probably force cells by spattering with tiny drops of silicone oil/spray. You could also mix a couple drops in with the paint before pouring, obviously. What I don’t know is if the turning motion would somehow affect the development of cells. I may have to test that!! Thank you for the comment!
