Rain running down the inside of the box section doesn’t seem like a good idea. Hopefully it’s painted inside!!
And also all the water will sit over your patio and not drain away.

Yes, it's supposed to be. The canopy louvres have a channel in them that carries the rain to the corner posts, and it then runs down inside into the ground.
