    I have just finished installing a 6 x 3m aluminum louvre system. The video is pretty much as it goes. I installed mine on a 40mm timber deck which required adding timber strengthening too areas beneath each column. If installing to concrete the package includes ss dynabolts. I am very happy with the quality way the whole system was manufactured the beams and post went together very tidily. The labour intensive work is really screwing the end caps to the louvre blades there are quite a few. A portable electric drill is a necessity. One side of my pergola was up against my house so I had to feed the blades into the adjusting rod and the frame holes at the same time it would have been a bit difficult to fit the adjusting rod and circlips afterwards, worked out ok in the end. The system overall quality is good for the price, there are other systems around that are stronger and more substantial, but they also cost 4-5 times the price. Remember to square the whole pergola and get the posts vertical before fastening down. And leave the louvres open in strong wind and or snow. It came on 5# cardboard boxes, weighing about 50kg each, well packaged , all parts numbered, and good assembly instructions, be careful not to lose any parts as there are no spares included.

      Hi, I am looking at buying one too, but need to know if it's possible to change the orientation of the slats so that they open length wise instead of across. Obviously on a 3m x 4m it will be impossible, but being a 3M x 6M (2x 3M X3M) I am wondering if you can configure it that way?

      Each slat has a trough that directs rainwater to the beam they sit on. The beam also has a trough to catch the runoff from the slats and directs it down the end posts and out a small hole at bottom of posts.

    Could you nut and bolt it down onto 4 concrete slabs? If so does anyone recommend any slabs from bunnings

    • @ThaMajesticWun

      I was wondering the same thing today. I was wondering if you can gain some height if you were able to bolt it to slab blocks.

    • @rickyshoard
      @rickyshoard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThaMajesticWun I was talking about a paving slab that’s only about 300x300 square. I think if you have a full concrete slab already that is thick enough and you put in big enough fixings in it’s gonna be fine. But I’m wondering how big / thick of a paving slab would be Harvey enough to stop it tipping over in the wind

    • @genelomas332
      @genelomas332 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickyshoard A 300x300 paving slab is too thin, and would probably crack under the weight, especially if you had any lateral movement from wind or people bumping into a post..
      You'd be better off pouring footings for the posts to bolt to at least 450mm deep and 300 square (mix up 4 bags, 80kgs, of concrete for each hole and bevel it off 50mm above the grass).. you could probably use the foot plate as a jig (or make timber templates from the foot plate, to avoid getting concrete all over them), to align threaded rods (fix nuts and some big washers to the bottom end to avoid them pulling out later, and hold them down 400mm into the hole concrete while it cures.. this would eliminate the need to drill holes for anchors later..
      Then you can fix the foot plate to the exposed ends of the rods, and drop the cover cap over it.. :)

    • @rickyshoard
      @rickyshoard ปีที่แล้ว

      @@genelomas332 yeah I know how to do it properly. But as I’m renting it’s not possible, hence why I’m asking about paving slabs. But I guess 300x300 could be possible if they were thicker . I didn’t state how thick they would be and was hoping someone would recommend a thickness that would work. It’s pretty sheltered from the wind here.

    • @newgilligan3694
      @newgilligan3694 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickyshoardI have the 10x20.. It's not in a high wind area and it's just sitting on paving stones 12x12x1.75 thick. I would recommend minimum 4 inches thick pads for bolting down.
