    Good demo. Very informative. Let me tell you a NYC story. I was out gardening in front of my building. A woman walked by and had a really cool tie-dyed shirt on. I told her how great it was. I really liked it. We introduced ourselves and she said she would make me one. A year went by and I was outside working on the front garden again. She saw me, didn't want me to see her and walked by. She came back and surprised me with 5 that's FIVE really cool tie-dyed t-shirts. :)

    Years ago I was doing shirts as a hobby and accidentally stumbled on making a similar design, though I could never really explain WHY it worked.. I see it now and I'm like "duh" because it's pretty obvious once you see it 🤣 thank you! 😍

    Your lines are amazing and now I see why! That death pipe 😂 and the fabric under it 👍
    You're getting amazing leverage that way! Kudos and love that zig-zaggy pull where you're teasing the shirt in different directions at the ties.
    Thank you!

    Thank you for the pvc trick. I always get blisters when tieing off the sinew for geode shirts.

    I am so curious how you ice dye something shaped like that, I've seen ice dying on objects that are able to lie flat, but I would love to see how you ice die this piece!

    Could you get a similar effect with rubber bands tied very tightly?

    Do you use powdered dye or liquid? And what’s a good place to buy the dye?
    I saw your video on Facebook and had to come check out how to do it. Beautiful work!

    • @corkylorenz

      You can get procion dye from a few sources. I get it from Dharma Trading co. You can get the Jacquard brand from amazon. Just make sure to also get soda ash, which is the white powder that makes the dye permanent. I usually use powder.

    My problem is full saturation. I can’t seem to overcome it. I’ve tied not as tight to super tight. Added my color then came back and added more, just can’t seem to get my centers colored.

      @casa5080 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, isn't that a geode too? With a white crystal center?

      @@casa5080true, I have to be less critical. Btw I managed to make some that I was happy with.

    How do you prevent your rope from untying? Because you aren’t doing any knots, but somehow it stays tight around the t shirt

    • @corkylorenz
      @corkylorenz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because it’s waxed, once it’s pulled tight, it locks down on itself and is actually hard to unwrap!

      I have lots of videos that do include the finished result. Also, my IG is full of my geode shirts. Generally, then all look similar.

    Handy tip. Get a sinew puller. It’s basically a wooden hand weight shaped device that you can load a bunch of sinew on to it and it makes for a great handle for pulling. That way there’s no more sinew rolling around the floor getting dirty.

  • @a.c.d6386
    @a.c.d6386 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a replacement for the sinew that will give the same results

      I have seen someone who uses rubber bands but I have never been successful that way. Zip ties sometimes work, but are wasteful and hard to remove.
