You can strap on on a Mathey-Tissot and be wearing a watch that looks great, runs well, doesn't cost too awful much, and, perhaps most importantly to some, says "Swiss Made" on the dial.

I inherited a vintage Mathey-Tissot last year. Its solid 18k gold and that's all I know about it. It was nice to learn a little about the brand

Fun fact the reason Type 20’s have that weirdly marked 30 minute subdial is because most of them used movements that were modified to count 15 minutes. So after each minute on the chronograph the chrono minute hand would jump twice. Something to do with flying, they preferred a 15 minute chronograph.

It's a very nice watch! I no longer mind the 19mm lugs. For some reason, in Turkey, there are tons of places selling odd sizes including 19mm and 21mm in leather and textile Nato style. Maybe it's because Turkey is a traditional leather manufacturer, for example the world famous Bosphorous Leather selling watch boxes up to $10,000 and $25,000 watch winders! I won't be getting one for my Heimdallr Monster! Also if Nato is your thing a 20mm one will look fine on most 19mm lug widths. Excellent video as always Jody. Have a good weekend.

Some of the Mathey-Tissot watches are gaudy, however, the Type 21 Flyback Chrono ETA quartz watches are very cool. I bought the black one and the ‘brown’ one from JS. They are very solidly put together. The metal work is excellent. They have ar coated sapphire crystals and deployant clasps. There are ss band variants also. They have a lot of charm and a bargain for a Swiss watch. Lume is not great, but they are pilot watches, so no biggy. A great buy in my book.

I bought the green dialed datejust homage a couple months back. My first son is due in the middle of May (hence the emerald green dial) and I'm wearing the watch everyday until he is born, at which point I'm taking the battery out, setting it to his birth time and putting it in a shadow box as a momento. Say what you will about them, but to me that is well worth the $100 price and Mathey-Tissot will always be a special brand to me.

Hi! I'm just about to buy my first watch for my graduation and my watch of choice is the Hamilton khaki field 42 automatic with a brown leather strap. I wonder, if it's too big for my wrist. I have a about 7 inch wrist and the lug to lug is about 50 mm I guess. I got a really good deal on it in Finland about 450 euros. Is it too big for a every day wearer?

I took a gamble on a Jomashop purchase yesterday. the gamble is not the interwebstore which I've already had three great purchases from but I've gone below 40mm for the first time in a long time all the way to 39 but maybe more importantly only 16mm bracelet width. Time will tell whether it looks ok on my Simpson wrist or I can change to stepped leather Failing that it's such a great deal I should be able to flip it at little cost..

Looks quite nice, but a bit pricey for the brand. I suspect the reality is you can pick it up a bit cheaper than the list. On their website, they had others that I liked more in that style that were cheaper, as you noted. Not bad, got me thinking of the brand. I like the more minimalist dial and the shiny case...very Longines. Not a fan of Hamilton, so would probably grab this if I really wanted this style. I like the Longines models for this style the most though. I sort of hope they go better and become a contender.
Mineral lets you have the curved crystal, perhaps some of its use is for the look and history accuracy? You can buy very expensive Omegas with Hesalite...which are totally historically accurate. We all know the model. :)

2 Minute marks is NOT a "problem of the design". It's a desirable feature to actual aviators who need to time two minute turns. This is a standard turn rate for aviation for a coordinated 360 degree turn. Your standard holding pattern is a 4 minute track of four, 1 minute segments. It's a tool with a purpose, you're just not using it for the correct purpose. For actual flyers 2 minutes is the most important indication to have... hence you have 2 minute markings on a true aviation tool. I fly an all glass Gamin 1000 instrument panel now, but my old 1972 Cessna had a dedicated 2 minute analog timer on the dash.

I think one of te biggest problems with youtubers is that they just act by snobism following certain trends without diving into deep waters. This is why so many of them don't know or misvalue brands like this. Mathey-Tissot is a great historic Swiss brand with a rich history in watchmaking in the past and a modest but very interesting offer in present days. Elvis wore Mathey-Tissot and had several dozens given to his friends and acquitances as a present; more recently Robert de Niro wore a rare gold vintage MT in the film The Irishman by F F Coppola. They make interesting models at affordable prices. But you don´t have to worry, even the great Eric Giroud himself was surprised to discover how interesting and valuable this brand was when they asked him to design the Mathey-Tissot Edmond to honor the man who founded the brand in 1886. Enjoy the discovery.
