I did this on my 147 GTA a while back (before I saw this video). I rented a car hoist which made life a LOT easier. It's not that complicated, just time consuming taking apart the exhaust and tray. Was able to buy just the broken top white plastic part off eBay for about 25 quid.
I did this on my 156 and can confirm getting the plate back into position on your back with the car on axle stands is not easy. Gear change is now mint though
I have trouble engaging 6th gear, I really need to push it hard to the right and then it gets in easily, or I just pull the ring for reverse and then it slides easily, It's like the selector doesn't go right enough, can this be adjusted?
I need to change just the plastic bushes under the gear selector of the GT 2.0 JTS. How do I get out that stupid pin? I tried a hammer with a screwdriver but nothing is happening! It's not the same as the JTD.

Hi. Did you convert your selespeed into a manual? I have an Alfa Romeo selespeed 2.0JTS 2004 parked in my garage for two years because the actuator has failed to select gears 5 and Reverse. I have changed the pump, accumulator, rings, harness, solenoids, sensors, gearbox, and everything else, but the actuator has failed to select Gears 5 and Reverse. Kindly advise how I can get the car to work again.
@silasirea7570 I didn't bother, I couldn't afford to fund my project, kids are growing finding time was difficult, have u ever thought it could be your gearbox!
Italia Autos ..previous owner had point welded🤭 the exhaust pipe...so i had to grind it open. Also the bolts were rusty and welded....so i had to drill them out and made the surface smooth again...😏
I was planing to remove that cover for a long time, just to check if there is any broken part, and to lubricate. Reason for that is problem that I have with second gear. But after this video I see this is not ez job :(

Hi are you near Birmingham? I used to do all my own repairs but now I have neuropathy, Ankylosis Spondylitis and skin that tears easily which stops me tackling this exact job. 1) Can a top part fix the issue as I have checked mine is broken as seen for 147 6 speed on the flea bay? 2) Would you be able to repair mine or able to recommend a mechanic? 3) Where can I get hold of a complete selector if required? 4) Or where can I hire a car lift and get my son to tackle this with my instruction and this video?

Thank you for your help
i'm gonna ask question. I have 147 jtd and some time first and fifth gear wont engage until i put it in second or fourth, do i need to change the gear selector or the bushings?
Hey there 😊 I recently purchased a 147 tspark.... unknown to me the car does have a few problems. I would really like to ask you, can I make use of a 2pin temp sensor instead of the 3pin. Hello from Spain! I have a problem with my 156 2.5 V6 gearbox. When the car is hot, fifth and sixth gears are very hard to engage. Do you know what could be the problem?
Hi there, I have Alfa 147 1.6l and I hear a strange metal clicking sound when I shift into 1st, 3rd and 5th gear. If I do it gently, I don’t hear or feel anything wrong. Any idea what it could be? Thanks and keep posting great videos.
