      +rstabler1 I totally feel ya. I SAW Jake back in the 80s when Oz was on the B.A.T. Moon concert tour. I had the cassette. haha I learned to play some of the riffs. IMO, Jake was seriously bad ass and I LOVE how he didn't at all try to copy Randy. I kind of feel sorry for him because Badlands was good but.... you know? And the fact he got reamed by Sharon on the album and made him sign a contract AFTER he had recorded it all saying he got no $ for album sales.... wow. Just low. My respect for Oz and Sharon is nil for that and how many other deals did they do? I hear she had parts recut for the Randy albums too just to remove the drummer and keyboardist from them.
      Anyway... poor Jake. He just doesn't look healthy to me.

    Ive heard this drummer before in video clips here on TH-cam and he's good. Im quite sure it's because it was recorded by phone. Unfortunatly there are few clips here on TH-cam where RDC sounds good, but those clips that have great sound everyone can here that these guys can play and sing. In this clip you hear mostly Jake E Lee's guitar and the singer, but where´s the drummer or the bass player? Somewhere in the background, faaaaaar away...... :-/ :-/ #JakeELee #guitar #guitarist #guitarhero

    Love Jake,but he seems to struggle with guitar parts that he played effortlessly in his Ozzy days. I agree with many people the band is not good enough. He needs a better singer and maybe keyboards to do the older material justice. It's good to see him back after so many years and I hope he sticks around.

    I've been playing and teaching guitar for years. the note choices and innovations Jake came up with are on par with Van Halen or Hendrix. Randy did some great stuff, that's for sure. but his style was so heavily influenced with the classical melodies it made things to neat and predictable at times. the fact that(like Eddie) Jake studied piano at and early age made him think differently about his note choices. the fact is Zack can play the shit out of Randys stuff. but he doesn't come very close to what Jake did. to bad we didn't get another album with Jake in his prime

      Oddly, it is more difficult to sing Ozzy than Badlands. Ozzy's voice is in a weird register and is really unique. Unless you get an Ozzy impersinator its hard to cover ozzy songs because you are so used to ozzy's voice. He sounds pretty good on the badlands stuff and their originals.

    @CapstoneTider 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Sounds a hell of a lot better than that awful phone video aimed at Jake's speaker. People were saying he lost it, was drunk, when it was just a bad, distorted, cheap mic red lined from his speaker. The comments really angered me due to that lack if insight, it was so obvious. Glad Jake is has some higher caliber recordings coming out. No doubt one the best metal guitarist of all time.

  • @teuf9180
    @teuf9180 9 ปีที่แล้ว +61

    Understand this, Jake did write the song, so he plays it properly. This is not to take anything away from Zakk Wylde. Honestly, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Zakk is talented in the way he plays, but I feel his abundance of harmonic squeals becomes a novelty. The phrasing in his solos sound great, but there is not an abundance of variety in them. Harmonics and squeals should be more accent and not the bones of a solo when it's fleshed out. But a ton of the commentors here don't actually play, so the words get lost on them. Lets just agree to disagree, Jake is great for his music, Zakk is great with his songs.

    • @rickgoodwin2892
      @rickgoodwin2892 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah... Sharon and Ozzy really put the screws to Jake after he put the guitar work down for the album. He was too trusting to get the contract before putting out his ideas. And you're right.. harmonic squeals are nice once in a while but Zack really over uses them... too bad thoigh.. he really doesn't need to because he's actually a great player and under plays his solos in Ozzy tunes.

    People complaining, understand this is a shitty recording , the camera is recording the sound thru the air out by the audience , no direct mix off the PA ...so yeah, it's gonna sound thin, muddy and noisy . Even with a good mix from a board into the cam , a live recording is VERY difficult to sound like the album . If you don't play, or record, you're unaware of how much production goes into what you hear on a album , the instruments have precise mic placement on them, with isolation from room noise and ambient noise ...ambient reverberence from the room is sometimes let in (in a very controlled manner, and phase aligned) . A good band can sound very good live if 1: you're actually there 2: they have a good sound guy 3: a good PA system 4: a decent room . 5,6,7,8, ... If you've played out, then you know, some gigs/rooms just swallow up and muddy your sound . -----Just appreciate the opportunity to see Jake E . I'd rather see Jake E in a shitty room with bad sound and howard stern on vocals than see Zakk do pinch squealers and the same ole lifeless muff pentatonics recorded perfect . . .

    Everyone keep in mind he hadn't played this song in nearly thirty years (I met him shortly before his comeback effort, and he hadn't played much of anything for most of that time), and never thought he would play this particular song again... until it was demanded of him on this tour, so he had to re-learn it. I can relate to his fingers not being quite as flexible as they were at one time, and especially on the outro solo which he admitted is still quite difficult for him.
    But I don't think he needs the excuses anyway. He played great.... but yes, he needs a good tech.

    The bassist is Ronnie Mancuso from Beggars and Thieves. Jake E. Lee made a cameo appeareance in their video 'Come Undone' he then hired Mancuso as his bassist. He is a great producer and guitarist but he lacks the skill of being a real bassist. On Eddie Trunk he seemed quite fond of the singer tbh, maybe he just had a bad day here. But some comments... Dissing a good drummer because he's a lil younger is bullshit. I support Jake's efforts but he deserves to play w/ better musicians imo.

    Whenever I think of Jake being part-Japanese, I think of my former elementary school classmate, David Itchitushi. He was half-Jewish, half-Japanese. David told us that when he was born, his family held his bris at Benihana. (Ba-dump-bump!) O.K., kidding aside, would I be out of place here if I said that Jake could play with tem broken fingers and STILL outplay Zakk Wylde any day of the week? I'd hope not! (Love ya, Jake! Hope to run into you in Vegas someday soon!)

    In My personal opinion, Jake was Ozzy's best player, and Badlands' first album was absolutely fantastic, but Jake's dropped the ball as of late and I just think he's never gonna get it back. Red Dragon Cartel is awful, underwhelming and boring, and mostly, due to Jake being lackluster anymore. The piss has been taken out of him, however, whenever it happened. Believe Me, I get no joy out of saying that. But it's 100% true. At one time, though, he was one of the greatest. Just try and get your mojo back, Jake...please.

    Gotta appreciate Ozzy's uniqueness, I've seen people get closer to Geddy than anyone has to Ozzy.
    Poor Jake, he has to play these songs, a non verbal contract that gets him on these tours as a "Name" act. He may still enjoy it but it does not look like it. It was thirty/forty years ago.
    That flange killed The Ultimate Sin, that was my one peve with Jake, sometimes it' too much, he was using them correctly on Bark at the Moon, as effects, but on TUS he was using them as his sound.
    The first two Band Lands Albums are great, I don't think he uses any effects and there is only one part where if you walk in halfway you might think it was a Ozzy song because of the way the Lead builds. Other than that it's just LedZeppelin/LynardSkynrd, or Jakes Version of it. Kind of like Zack first solo Album.

      legatou Jake was barred from a Black Sabbath show because he broke silence on what actually happened during the recording/contract signing for 'Bark At The Moon' and is not on speaking terms with the Osbourne camp - he wrote a large majority of the music on that record with Bob Daisley. He could've been sued for talking about it publicly, because the contract prohibited him to talk about it, but it basically said he had no rights to songwriting or publishing and if he didn't like it, he could go home and sue them.
      In short, he made Ozzy and Sharon look bad because he came out and told the truth - something fans wanted to know. It was kept buried for over 30 years, apart from when Ozzy admitted he had more input than what was originally recognized, but that didn't happen until the mid-late 90s. They also fired Jake for no good reason.
      Check out the interview Jake did with Eddie Trunk recently, it's extremely eye-opening :)

      If the first RDC had been an Ozzy album he would have put Ozzy back on top. Just like he did with bark at the moon and ultimate sin.

    I agree...and I understand people getting pissed but still, going on and on about Ozzy this and Ozzy that hasn't gotten him anywhere. Forget Bark at the Moon, forget Ozzy and Sharon and build another career. And for god sake, get a real drummer and singer. Sorry for pissing you guys off.

      How much did he "grow" after working with bob Daisley, we have Pre ozzy Randy footage, but none of Jake that I am aware of. Randy became a much better song writer in that little time between the Club video's of Quiet Riot and the Blizzard Album.

    I’d like to see Jake, in his prime - he’s still outstanding here though - with Brucie Dickinson in his prime from Iron Maiden. I guess that Jake played with Dio at one time. I saw Dio during the “Holy Diver” tour with Vivian Campbell I believe. But Jake on guitar, Brucie on vocals, maybe Geddy Lee on bass, and Neil Peart on percussion. There’s a lineup right there. Oh, and Geddy sings backup vocals and maybe some lead. I’m thinking about keyboards still.

    They're all really good.
    What you can say is what you , yourself like or fancy the most.
    Me , speaking just for meself, i like the first 5 albums.Blizzard/ Diary/ Speak of the Devil/Bark at The moon/ Ultimate Sin.
    Thats the real spirit in Ozzy Osbourne, after the Ultimate Sin i lost intrest in this band and in Ozzy

    Jake E Lee playing his own tunes with a cut rate cover band. How sad. He is the S**t,but that singer raped the vocals without a kiss or grease be4 f****IMG it WAY UP! COME ON JAKE,YOU CAN BETTER!! From Ozzy,to Ray in Badlands,you went way down hill with this dude. Damn

    Jake will do what he wants. He doesn’t care that much about the money- even though Sharon and Ozzy screwed him out of millions.
    He could continue practicing, sounding better and make a real comeback, but it’s doubtful he will. He obviously doesn’t want to be an 80s metal guy anymore. Look at that singer and the way he sings. Maybe a punk rock singer, but not an 80s metal guy. Even the drummer and his kit. Looks like a jazz kit- too small and not sounding like much. I believe the drummer is from where I’m from- Vancouver, Canada. There’s basically no 80s metal people here...

    Seen this mistake too many times. You can't use a raspy voice on Ozzy tunes. Falsetto or if you got a light voice is best method. Hardest ozzy song to sing is flying high again. I do not look like a rock dude but can sing ozzylike no tomorrow. Especially the whole speak of the devil vinyl like a mirror. I look square though.

    some get it most don't. Ozzy all on his own as far as voice.. cover band singer out there better. RDC plays original to Badlands to Ozzy. not many singers out there cover them all. Ralph Saenz aka Mike Starr Steel panther maybe.
