    Hi I don't know your name fishing Salcombe but enjoy your posts. Only found you recently so been having a binge watch lately. I used to live Torbay when the kids were young so know what a wonderful area you have to fish in. We used to go to a beach near Salcombe called East ????? a nice sandy beach for the kids. Used to boat fish with a pal who had a boat at Brixham so fished between their & Dartmouth. One particular rocky point we fished used to produce Conger Eels to 45lb & some great Black Bream so surprised you don't catch them. I'm now 79 & live nr Swansea & hope to get my Sea Hog Jeep out this year. What do you mount your camera (Go Pro) in for filming. Do you have a suction cap on the cuddy? Do you have some sort of floating gimble to keep the picture level? I cannot see if on a tripod why does it not fall over or over the side in rough seas. Look forward to further adventures. Perhaps anchor up tide on the wreck & fish back into them when weather permits. Thank you for some very enjoyable viewing.

      Hi Robbie, thanks for the feedback & my name is also Rob! Probably East Portlemouth that you used to go with the kids, it’s a long drive all the way round from Salcombe or a short ferry trip across the river. We don’t get too many bream off Salcombe, I know there are spots around Brixham, as you say, and I used to get a good few black and red bream off Plymouth but they seem to be scarce in between. The river here does hold good gilt head bream but I rarely try for them as you’re constantly untangling weed in the river and prefer it out to sea. Tight lines and wishing good fishing from your Sea Hog👍👍🎣🎣

      Sorry, I forgot to mention the GoPro mount. I’ve tried several methods, including a weighted tri-pod, which wasn’t very successful. I generally now just use the GoPro clip on the cuddy edge and the built in stability is good enough to keep it level. Wind is an issue (you’ll hear it on my first few videos) so I use a foam windcheater cover. Good luck!

    • @robbiecook8770
      @robbiecook8770 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your reply Rob. Yes it was East Portlemouth we used to go to. I remember we dug a hole/trench once & I got in it sitting up, the kids buried me up to my neck so it looked that I was standing 6' deep in sand. Two older ladies asked if I was ok & I told them my friends had buried me after a drinks binge & I could not get out. The were about to call coastguard & police when I had to come clean & look the fool I was. My children still laugh about it. I'm hoping the 15' Sea Hog will be up to it with a 40hp outboard. If not I will get a Warrior 165 or 175 for safety. I will moor at Burry Port on the Loughor Estuary which is good Bass & Flounder fishing with plenty of Tope out in the bay. I have an Osmo not a Go Pro & a Video camera with zoom fo the long shots. I'm still not sure how you fix your camera & to where. A pal who course fishes with my set up has his mic covered with fur on the big camera & has now gone to remote mic & transmitter with great success if you want to spend £250. Also gone from internal batteries which are so expensive & dont last long to Romoss SW Pro power bank 20,000 about £25.00 or Fospower 100050mAH battery even cheaper & you get about 5hrs at full HD. If using a tripod velcro the battery to a plate on one of the legs. You may need additional cables from camera to battery but much cheaper than Go Pro batteries. I was thinking of gluing a mount to the cuddy ??? Your sound comes over just a bit lower than others on Utube but not a great problem. Thanks & look forward to next edition. Robin.

    Fantastic experience, thanks for sharing. A little off topic question but, is that sense of equilibrium on top of the boat developed thoughout the years of is it something you get easily used to?

    • @fishingsalcombe
      @fishingsalcombe  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it’s something you easily get used to on any size of boat. You can hang on and go with the boat’s motion but I think that would make most people unwell! Thanks for watching 👍
