You forgot to mention one homegrown talent besides Altuve and Yordan that they did pay is Lance McCullers and I’m pretty sure he’s been more injured during his extension than healthy
@@ForTheLongCon They traded him two months after signing him and before he played a single game in their system. Cuba's baseball league developed him more than the Dodgers lol
Unlike some, I do not blame injuries on players unless they have done something really stupid to cause them. Lance came to camp ready to pitch, and things just didn't go well. I hope he can come to ST ready to throw off a mound and show us some stuff.
They're not some garbage team because they smartly chose not to shell out 200 mil for a declining 31 yr old. Also people forget the astros turned around their season without kyle tucker a majority of the way. I'd rather have the additions of Paredes, Walker, and prospect cam smith than having bregman and only one more yr of Tucker.
Arod is a #16 all time in bWAR and Pujols is #29. Arod was cooked at the end from all the roids and JLo drama but Pujols was great right through the end. Both inner circle HoF careers
@chris42069 I'm not knocking on their numbers. Financially speaking, A-Rod didn't play the last two seasons of his contract. His hips were shot from the roids. He was also busy suing the shit out of the MLB. Pujols was terrible his last couple seasons with the Angels. Probably had something to do with the losing culture over there. He did finish strong with the Dodgers & Cardinals.
@@chris42069yeah quoting their career numbers is completely missing the point. It’s not what have you done for me, it’s what are you going to do for me next. Go look at Pujols numbers season by season, it’s a huge drop off, yet he’s the highest paid player on the team. You can’t win like that.
@@christopherroy7313 Yeah, like you said with the Angels. That is their culture until the owner sells. They will always be losers. I am sure that if Pujols stayed in St. Louis, he would have the homerun record and 2-3 more World Series rings. He was worth the money.
The Astros are doing the right thing, whether we like it or not. Bregman is 30. Anything more than 6 years would be a mistake. Most players decline rapidly after their mid-30s. I will use a generational hitter and my favorite player as an example: Miguel Cabrera. After age 33, he was ok but never great and riddled with injury. Unfortunately, that is a reality in the game of baseball.
Great example and Cabrera was the best hitter in MLB, by far. He was good until age 36 or so but the last 5 years or so he was a league average hitter at best, while being 🐌 🦥 runner and a defensive liability
@@bschiff13420 The Astros offered Bregman $156million over 6 years and he said no. He wasn't staying in Houston from the start. He's not as good a team mate as everyone thinks to turn down $26million a year.
@@patpatpatbuddy he said the Astros dynasty was over when we had that slow start but we ended up making the playoffs. He's said these similar things before and the opposite has happened. Cope harder.
I think at some point a team should be more focused on building chemistry and taking care of their guys instead of worrying so much about money. A 10 year contract shouldnt be any problem for Jose Altuve yet Houston will only offer him 6 thats foul.
@@RandomlyRandom2025 yeah duh I just like to make a confirmation before I comment on yet another stros fan being so skewed to thinking their team is going to be the same dynasty it was and crying because they think baseball works different for them
Yes, but they still had most of the players they do not have now, like Correa, Tucker, and probably Bregman. Plus the pitching is way worse than it was then.

I wholeheartedly agree, and I'm a Mets fan. Mets should not pay Bregman for the long term. Bregman's comps are all a bunch of guys who died around age 32-33. Will he be good in 25? Of course. But after 2026, who knows?
@samuelsandate9804 Might? He will. Question is when. If he has 3 good years left in him, you might be willing to suck up 3 bad ones in a 6 year deal. But if he has only 2 more good ones, you can't suffer for 4 or 5 long years in a guy's decline, while he has an un-moveable contract. Mets should steer clear.
I feel otherwise. I think they are smart not to give long term contracts to too many players. They can't afford to sign everyone and not giving contracts over 6 years means they're unlikely to ever be carrying much dead weight on their payroll. They've been competitive for about a decade so whatever they're doing is obviously working.
Also they look at contracts like the Albert Pujols with the Angels and even Miggy's which were not good. Funny enough they actually caused a chunk of years where long term deals were super rare because many were afraid to do it but largely due to Scott boras and a few other things they randomly became popular again
slight issue is they prolly realized that mistake after the McCullers deal. cuz that man is DEAD weight. he has been injured more than he has been healthy. and then the last notable moment he had for Houston was getting shelled to hell and back by Philly in Game 3 of the World Series
@@Carlosab818That's such a fucking nitpick. Fine, 6 straight, that's still 2nd all time in straight championship series appearances behind the 90's Braves
Jake Meyers had 13 HR and 61 RBI in a CF platoon role. He also was a gold glove finalist. CF is a defensive position and those aren't bad numbers for a platoon player in the number 8/9 spot. He also is only getting paid $3million a season. His numbers were better than Dubon's respectively.
Dumb take. Springer wasn't worth paying, so they didn’t. Pena has been as valuable as Correa for way way less. Oh and they won the damn world series with Pena replacing Correa. Bregman will not be worth the contract he signs. Also, the Astros have been top 6 in payroll pretty much every year since 2018 but keep calling them "cheap"
When you do a video on the Yankees or Redsox, do you bring up cheating for their winning ways? There was an unsealed Yankee cheating letter, which was recently released. Everyone was stealing signs and this is getting old with people like you singling out one team. Outside of that, you contradict yourself in this video. Lunhow knew how to draft, find hidden talent, etc. They win because they get the most out of players and they're worth a lot -- but they don't tie themselves to mega-deals on declining stars. The only true misstep, was Jose Abrue, but a lot people tie that back to a Bagwell move. Springer didn't live up to his new contract, Correa is made of glass, has been nothing special for the Twins, and Bregman has been on the decline for years. Breggy can't hit for the first two months of the season, he won't have much pop outside of the Crawford Boxes, he has the lowest velo of any 3rd baseman and he dealt with elbow issues last season. The Astros have shown that they are still masters at finding and tweaking pitchers. Look at what their young guys are doing and what they did with Yusei last season. 3rd and 1st base is upgraded this season. They just need to find one more OF bat.
Another issue is the change in front office. Lunhow and his kind of front office isn't there anymore, and trading for someone like Yusei was always dumb. Why trade anything for 2 months of a pitcher let alone what they gave up
@@iTalkStudios You're right on the trade being bad. Wagner looked really good when he got his shot and I was a huge fan of Loperfido. I hated that trade because most people could see that there wasn't a true shot of winning it all last season. They needed more than just a starting pitcher. I was just using that to make a point about how nobody can find and develop pitchers like Houston. Lunhow was the best GM and Click was very good. It was stupid to not resign Click after winning the WS. I don't think Dana has been given full control like those two guys were. After winning a lot, Crane has turned into Jerry Jones Jr and he likes to meddle. That was why he didn't get along with Click because Click was in full control. Dana is good at finding talent and would do well with total control as well. With that said, the GM's and Crane have been wise not to drop long-term mega contracts on aging players.
From 19 thru 24 Tucker had one great playoff game. Nobody the Astros have let go is setting the league on fire. Some will say Cole but when everything is on the line so far in his career you can't count on him. I don't think their run is done yet.
Bro did you not see the 2 games Cole pitched in the WS? He was absolutely brilliant in both games. Especially in gm5. He even came back after that 5th inning meltdown where he didn't give up a single earned run and threw 2 more quality innings. What more can you ask for from ya ace in a win or go home situation. And I'm saying this as a flat out Yankee hater
@@PopOutPaulielike he said Cole hasn’t done shit since the Astros yes he’s been better than most since leaving but gerrit Cole best season by far was 2019 as an Astro
@@theoperry3236 He literally said verbatim "when everything is on the line so far in his career you can't count on him" I disagree with that. But his most successful year was with the Astros cause they won the WS. So I can't argue with that
1:04 Don’t act like other teams weren’t cheating as well. The Red Sox and Yankees were both penalized for electronic sign stealing, and there is a lot of evidence that the Dodgers were using electronic sign stealing as well according to Evan Drellich, but the MLB did not investigate.
We all agree that Passan's tweet was petty. Nobody could have expected that Abreu's contract would crater THE millisecond he signed it, at the time everyone praised or was pissed off when the Astros signed Abreu because they thought it made the Astros even better. It is disingenuous to simply add Abreu and Walker's contracts up and say "hey look they dump all this money randomly on these 2 guys but not long term deals". That aside the Astros did offer Bregman an extremely fair deal. 6/$156 is more than the extension Matt Chapman just signed, and at this point I would say that Chapman is a better overall player than Bregman. He wants extra years but his batting statistics, while still great atm, have been trending downward consistently since 2019. He will definitely get a big ole bag of money and deserve it but probably not $200 million. Personally I predict that in the next 5-7 years we will be running into a lot of teams looking to trade or dump the money from these exorbitant 8+ year deals when the performance of the player inevitably falls off.
Astros will find a way to win with the guys that have been there before in big games. The pitchers will be back strong and they will be fine. I mean you’ve been wrong before about teams being on decline or predicting a bad season for them. 🤷🏽♂️
You can hate on them if you want but show me a ten+ year contract that has aged well…I’ll wait. It’s not unfathomable that these teams are going to regret these massive contracts.
Do you think Harper has lived up to good contract yet if he wins a World Series. I don’t know if Soto will be worth $765 million it’s wild I’m sure they’ll regret it and ticket sales will be so much more now
@ Harper Is five years into a 13y deal. We don’t know yet. He’s doing a lot better than Mike trout. We can say that. He’s also doing better than Pujols did but time will tell. After putting up 5.1 WAR in 2016, Miguel Cabrera produced negative 2.7 WAR the final 7y of his mega deal. I don’t wish that on Harper but that is baseball reality.
Completely skip over Jeremy Pena great Rookie Year. Gold Glove, Home Runs in the Postseason Sweeping the Yankees, ALCS MVP, World Series MVP, World Series Champion.
Altuve at the top because he was the cornerstone of a dynasty. And he never cheated, and I say this AS A YANKEES FAN. Hating Altuve is hating baseball itself! I hate the Astros, and I hated the cheating. But Altuve is an all time great 2B and actually changed how MLB scouts and teams look at smaller players.
I got to be honest... As a Yankee fan I refused to subscribe to your channel because of your Red Sox... But I'll be damned if I can find a better baseball channel on this platform. You've earned yourself a new subscriber sir. Keep up the great work 👍
This video is about ridiculous and I can tell you don't know what you're saying. The Astros need to go with a new core and replenish their system period. The roters is getting old and they need to get younger. Bregman numbers have been in decline and that's a bad sign. Everyone complained when they let Springer go and he has regress. Yes they let Cole go and he's been good, but the Astros have been able to develop pitching with Valdez Brown, Javier and Garcia among others. This ultimately come down to whether Dana Brown can build up a good team drom within like Jeff Luhnow did. They're gonna fine.
The outfield is good defensively, and it doesn't matter where your worst bats play. Most teams have a comparably poor trio of hitters at the bottom of their lineup playing somewhere on the field.
@ Most teams aren’t World Series teams. That’s what should be expected of the Astros in this Dynasty of theirs. They can have a hole or two, but to compete they need an outfielder with an OPS+ > 100
Their lineup is already great. Altuve 2b Peredas 3b Yordon dh Walker 1b Diaz/Caratini c Pena ss McCormick rf Meyers cf Leon/Trammell/Hammil lf Singleton/Dubon Utility If McCormick bounces back, the outfield will be OK. Meyers is a gold glove candidate every year. The rotation of Framber, Brown, Blanco, Arrighetti, Garcia, Wesneski is really good Still have Abreu, Pressley, Hader as set up and closer. Could probably add to the pen. The Astros will win the AL west again, and the playoffs will be better.
Facts. Outfield is worst but really you’re only missing Tucker. Chaz and Jake were starting most days so they were still nonexistent offensively. As for our infield, it got better in my opinion.
@cesargonzales7234 Jake Meyers had 13 HR and 61 RBI in a CF platoon role. He also was a gold glove finalist. CF is a defensive position and those aren't bad numbers for a platoon player in the number 8/9 spot. He also is only getting paid $3million a season. McCormick was a bust.
To me, the Astros are built like a traditional sports team, playing under the “salary cap.” Can’t go more than 6 years on ANY player unless they mean something for the city of Houston. It’s frustrating, but it’s the reality. I wouldn’t be surprised if the MLB does a tier system in terms of spending money and years on free agency, separating large market teams from small market teams, like getting first dibs on free agents.
this could never happen bc if a team can have “first dibs” on a fa, what is the point of free agency? thats essentially just the draft but for established players
4:14 "Jeremy Pena just has not been it" What are you talking about? Pena has put up 12.9 WAR since debuting in 2022. Correa has a 10.4 WAR over that same timeframe. Pena on a rookie contract offers way more value to a teams roster construction than paying 30 mil a year for Correa, who might miss half the year. Houston should have paid Tucker IMO. Corner outfield, back end rotation depth, and bullpen depth are what they need. They had 80 million dollars come off their books after 2024, and have another 35 million coming off next year. They had the ability to pay both Framber and Tucker, I don't really get why they didn't.
Framber will get extended, he wants to be in Houston. Tucker is young and will get paid big, the Astros can't afford him. Tucker knew that and was cool about it.
I think they’ll resign Framber. As for Tucker, I agree. They should have signed him to an extension. I am hopping they are in play next off season. To your point, they’ll have Pressly, Monteros and Abrue off the books. That’s 50 mil.
@@JustLikeHeaven77 Yeah but if you actually look at their payroll, they are at 166 mil, 90 million less than last year. Additionally, they have a lot more coming off with Abreu, McCullers, Pressly, and Monteiros after this season. I simply don't see why they couldn't have afforded both Tucker and Framber unless they were intentionally slashing payroll.
100% think this the route they should go and I hate the trashstros… no reason to overpay guys in their late 30s. They *won* 2 ships and have to focus on the next one. I also think it’s kind of best for that cheating team to disband as a whole. Trading Springer during covid would have made sense but maybe the market wasn’t there during the plandemic…
It’s working for the Astros. They’ll put their 7 straight ALCS appearances and two WS victories as evidence. Paying a 30+ year old six plus seasons at premium, market prices for 2-3 years of top level production is how a team goes from Astro level excellence to multi-season rebuilding.
Can you really call something that they routinely did during a consistent seven-year stretch of being great a "bad habit"? Seems like the habit worked and I believe it will work again. I like the moves
As a lofelong Astros fan, i would rather let Breggers go than end up with a Pujols contract. 6-8 years for a player in his 30's is brutal. Love Bregman and hope he gets a bag, but I also would rather the Patriot way and let them go a season too soon.
Eh. We had bregman his best years. Kinda glad they didn’t give him 200 mil to hit weak pop ups to the infield every other at bat. 🤷🏻♂️ don’t really care about the leadership. That didn’t help win us ball games last year. And Tucker disappears in the playoffs.
I am an astros fan, but I know the astros team is going to be better. We keep getting rid of our best players, but we have younger players that were just like Springer, Correa, and more. Look at how Hunter Brown is starting to become a good player. He was kind of like Springer except in a different position. The astros are just starting a new dynasty with a young and upcoming team. You'll see.
This strategy has worked wonders for the Astros for nearly a decade because they always had a farm system that pumped out 1 or 2 excellent players each year that they could call up and plug in to fill the holes. But finally we are seeing the punishment for the cheating scandal take shape, all those years of lost draft picks helped to accelerate the depletion of their farm and recent trades exacerbated it. Shouldn't have had to wait 5 years to see the cheating be punished though..........
Yeah the teams is definitely regressing but just think of “what if” Walker and Alvarez put up mvp caliber numbers and Altuve is great and maybe Peña steps up and this new 3rd baseman bum from the cubs puts up solid numbers u think maybe the Astros will have a shot? What if the pitching goes as planned like in 2022 this team has what it takes it’s just a matter of if it works out which if I’m being honest probably won’t but it’s just a thought
@@Sean-mi4dh i dont know how Isaac is a bum obviously u haven't seen his numbers plus he is playing in Houston with Crawford boxes so he is far from a bum

Long term contracts NEVER work......see Angels. Twins would love a re-do on Correa (Pena WS MVP too). Bregman will be 37 at the end of 6 yrs and has declined every year. Walker was a great move...........
@@axelagosto5196 will not disagree....but between the money the Twins are paying Correa, and his missed games with chronic injuries......Pena is the better option.
People have been throwing dirt on the Astros grave for 6 years now. Ever since we lost to the Red Sox in 2018. These types of videos are gonna look & sound ridiculous if they continue to be relevant and a playoff contender.
That’s the thing this video doesn’t cover. The fact the Astros have developed so many great hitters. Whatever people can say about Seattle developing pitchers, they can also say about Houston with hitters.
1) i feel springer, while he loved his teammates and city, didnt like the front office. these are the guys that left him in the minors way longer than he needed just so they could control his prime years, so much to the point that the players union had to get involved. so since they held him up to the point he wasnt hitting FA till he was 31, he wasnt coming back unless they blew him away. 2) stros fans are kinda fed up at this point. the narrative is: we had to let cole go to keep springer, then we had to let springer go to keep correa, then we had to let correa go to keep bregman, then we had to let bregman go to keep tucker..... and now we've traded tucker and likely are letting bregman go. i completely understand that you cant sign EVERYONE, unless youre the dodgers and you can differ every damn thing, and in their defense, springer and correa have fallen off since they left, but this is not a good look, if we let yordan walk, this city is gonna want someone's head 3) that offseason after we won the ring in 22 really set this team back. i was worried when crane let click walk and didnt bring him back, and then him and bagwell wanted to play GM. those contracts to abreu and montero are really hurting right now
I wouldn't give the worst of my distrust to the most proper baseball franchise bar the Red Sox in the 21st Century lol i'm sure they know what they're doing
Abreu made sense at the time but what they paid Montero definitely did NOT… the Tucker trade could be incredible in the end because Cam Smith has major upside. The only problem is they’re 1 big OF bat short now and they aren’t gonna spend to get one even though Santander and Hernandez are available.
I think giving guys contracts in to their age 39+ seasons like Soto is probably not the wisest thing, especially when your rewarding them with an extremely high AAV already. But denying guys money in to their say age 38 season is probably not your best path either. For Example: Alex Bregman is 30 years old, when he signs a 6 year deal, he'll be a free agent at age 36. He is not going to get the same AAV at that point vs the AAV he's getting at this current contract. It would be absurd for someone to pay him say 25 mil at age 36 and deny him 25mil today. So when he's looking for that 8 year deal vs the 6 years deal, he's essentially looking to lock up that extra 2 years cause he will NOT get that money if he signs 6. So essentially paying him something like 6 for 150 vs 8 for 200, your essentially signing him to a deal like 6 for 180, and the last 2 years for 10 each. To Bregman that's a difference of 5mil AAV. I'm fine with the Astros using a particular approach to FA contracts. Just like I'm fine with the As playing money ball. At the end of the day, they'll have to be extremely good and lucky at developing players because they wont be able to have anyone in their mid 30s beyond their absolute superstars. Now I'd love to see what happens with Yordan when his current extension is up as he will be 31 then. Does Astros offer him a 6 year deal again? Cause I dont think Yordan takes a 6 year deal at that point if his production stays the same. It's different for a 25 year old to take a 6 year deal, but when your 31, you try to squeeze out every extra year possible as your career can fall off a cliff anyday (Albert Pujols).
My Blue Jays used to have that self-imposed five year max rule for player contracts, and I’ll tell you right now, the fans hate it, the best players won’t sign with you, and it’s not conducive to winning. I hope all the fans enjoyed that seven year run, because if this is the new direction in Houston, the Astros are about to go supernova. 🌟
It’s called age and a change in strategy. Remember when he first came up, he took hits from what the pitcher gave him. Lots of oppo power and line drives. Then some where along the way he decided to bulk up and try to be a pull hitter. It didnt work
Ultimately, the key is player development. If the Astros had a decent farm system, no one would be worried about them at all. They’ve traded away all of their top prospects over the last 8 years (oddly none of whom have yet been consequential), but no team other than the Dodgers/Mets/Yankees can afford to give massive contract extensions to 30-32 year old home grown talent on a regular basis. Development is key.
Also lost a 1st and 2nd round pick in 2 straight drafts as punishment for 2017. Had they kept those picks from 2020 and 21, those players would be on course to have already been on the roster or pretty close 3-4 years later.
The only bad habit this team had was being complete garbage at home in the playoffs since 2018. Nationals & Braves & Rangers embarrassing them at home is ridiculous.
Well the main reason why Astros owner Jim Crane dosen’t do longterm contracts is because he want to keep winning and 5 years is best , but I do agree that it is best for the them to trade these guys and get something out of it before they hit free agency.
The Astros need a season or two of losing records to maybe get people to forget about the cheating. Hope everyone has a great Christmas and a Happy New Year
As a mariners fan thinking about becoming a astros fan this year if they will have me I will say this three things in life are certain death takes and the astros winning the al west
The Astros are trying to fight the reality of this is what the market is for such players. They'll offer what they think is fair, a middle of the road deal, but they will not break the bank on a monster deal. Doesn't matter who you are. The Steelers work this way too.
Shohei Ohtani he deserves every penny he gets He’s one of the best pitchers in baseball . He is definitely the best hitter in baseball. He’s the best player in baseball. . And he brings in a lot of money for the Dodgers so he’s worth it..Juan Soto he messed up the pay scale. Now everybody wants at least $400-$500 million and they are not worth it. It makes it very hard to build a team. Only the big market team will survive. There’s only one player that deserves the money.
It’s because they fired dusty baker. They should still be ashamed for that and these new age stats nerds really have to do some self reflecting as to wtf they were thinking
They didn't fire Dusty Baker, his contract ended, and he wanted out of Houston. He was not a good manager and cost the Astros a 2024 WS appearance with poor management decisions.
@ they insulted him which in essence is firing because he was forced out and they would not have renewed him. Also he was the reason they made it their in the first place and not why they lost. Look at what happens when they fire him they don’t even win 90 games or make the ALCS. That can be explained because they downgraded at the managerial spot because stat nerds don’t watch the game and instead just read numbers
Jim Crane doesn’t like giving out long term deals and honestly I’m fine with it because based on history those long term contracts does not work out and during the later years those contracts are going to look ugly when guys hit their early to mid thirties I agree with Cane it’s just not smart to give these guys long contract and you have to be on the books for it once guys are on decline. We gave Bregman an offer and he declined it and we decided to move on. Honestly we have mostly a solid lineup but we really need to get a strong bat at the outfield because Myeres and Chas were awful last year. Hopefully we get another bat and hopefully Chas and Myeres can be at least decent on offense
I mean if you were gonna sign anyone to a huge deal it would be Tucker and i feel like they fully planned on doing so...until Juan Soto's astronomical overpay. Bregman im ok with letting walk and so far most of the players to leave Houston havent done much outside of it.
I think they are smart then you get stuck with a Swanson type contract like my freaking Cubs :( .... I applaud them for being smart about contacts and reinventing themselves year after year they know how to pivot
You’re just plain wrong on this. The bad habit is offering bloated contracts to aging stars. Look at how Springer aged. Watch how Correa continues to miss time, oh and he didn’t even get the $ he wanted. Now watch Bregman sign a contract to play in Canada for an extra 20 million. In my opinion, it’s the players who are greedy, not the owners who are stingy.
Honestly for how dominant the astros were for 7,8 years they kinda choked away what could have been an all time dynasty and ill explain why 2017: championship 2018: beat handedly by red sox no conplaint there 2019: heavy favorites, up 3-2 in W.S with 2 games at home and lost some how lost... 2020: down 3-0 in ALCS won 3 in a row to tie series obly to blow game 7 and lose 2021: beat handedly by braves so no complaint there 2022: championship 2023: altuve homerun in 9th to take a 3-2 lead going to houston with two games to win one. Somehow lost both.
I just wish the Astros* a good next season and that the owner invest in his team for the sake of the franchise, city and the fans. Appreciate the work you do iTalk studios 👏🏽👍🏽 go Dodgers 🏆
Honestly it’s not the worst tactic I’d work a deal at 7 years and start trading players after year 5 or resign a 5 year extension If that made more sense
The trouble with that is that once you have 10 years experience in MLB and 5 years with the same team, you get a full no trade waiver. It hurts teams to go above 4 years unless the player is really talented or has less than 5 years experience.
Hard disagree. Bregman is not worth what he is wanting. He will have to settle for less now and get signed late into the offseason for a lesser contract. Like Correa did with the Twins. Also nobody is talking about Bregman having a BAD RIGHT SHOULDER that was a problem last season. A long term contract for a 30+ year old 3rd baseman with a bad throwing shoulder? No thanks. Also you missed a big blow that the organization has had to deal with, punishments from 2017 in losing 1st and 2nd round picks for 2 straight drafts. Yes thats right Astros haters, they actually were punished for the 2017 scandal.
As much as i agree bregman should have came back its probably for the best since he’s not worth whatever money he wants the astros offered him the money he is worth and bregman doesn’t want to sign and for the Astros solved their bregman problem so easily was awesome now we need a outfielder to not run a trash outfield everyday
Dodgers fan here and I won't forget about 2017, but you saying "it MIGHT cost them" means they are doing something right. You questioning your own vid speaks volume. If they can't beat other teams with talent, they'll just find another trash can to hit anyways.
Springer correa or cole are worth what they are making. Bregman won't be worth the 200+ million. Tucker has a chance but even still. Those huge contracts hardly ever pan out.

They are cheap. Anything outside of top 3 payrolls is irrelevant. Houston is 100% Jewish.

We all agree that Passan's tweet was petty.
I’m legit scared to see the the Astros try to compete with the leagues worst outfield

Just need to do salary cap discounts on resigning with your current team. Like you resign a FA, and only 75% counts towards the salary cap.

4:14 "Jeremy Pena just has not been it"
What are you talking about?

100% think this the route they should go and I hate the trashstros… no reason to overpay guys in their late 30s. They *won* 2 ships and have to focus on the next one. I... disagree. They are managing their resources well. They are once again contenders this season, and that's all you can ask of them.
It’s working for the Astros. They’ll put their 7 straight ALCS appearances and two WS victories as evidence. Paying a 30+ year old six plus seasons at premium, market prices for 2-3 years of top level production is how a team goes from Astro level excellence to multi-season rebuilding.

Plus Tucker didn’t play the meaningful games this year 😂 he was hurt
@ ended up playing better without him too. 🤷🏻♂️
Shouldn't have had to wait 5 years to see the cheating be punished though..........

the turns have tabled indeed
1) i feel springer, while he loved his teammates and city, didnt like the front office. these are the guys that left him in the minors way longer than he needed just so they could control his prime years, so much to the point that the players union had to get involved. so since they held him up to the point he wasnt hitting FA till he was 31, he wasnt coming back unless they blew him away.
2) stros fans are kinda fed up at this point. the narrative is: we had to let cole go to keep springer, then we had to let springer go to keep correa, then we had to let correa go to keep bregman, then we had to let bregman go to keep tucker..... and now we've traded tucker and likely are letting bregman go. i completely understand that you cant sign EVERYONE, unless youre the dodgers and you can differ every damn thing, and in their defense, springer and correa have fallen off since they left, but this is not a good look, if we let yordan walk, this city is gonna want someone's head
3) that offseason after we won the ring in 22 really set this team back. i was worried when crane let click walk and didnt bring him back, and then him and bagwell wanted to play GM. those contracts to abreu and montero are really hurting right now
It was a good run. The Astros deserve all the respect in the World for what they have accomplished

Yes, giving 31 yr olds 7 plus year extensions after they hold them hostage is how smart teams do it.
you sure love talking about the Astros , you do always seem to be wrong tho
Im an astros fan and I admit bregman cant hit without the trashcan. 😢
he hit 40+ homers in 2019 what are you even talking about?
You’re just saying that because you lost him.
It’s called age and a change in strategy. Remember when he first came up, he took hits from what the pitcher gave him. Lots of oppo power and line drives. Then some where along the way he decided to bulk up and try to be a pull hitter. It didnt work
buddy not everyone is the dodgers or yankees, we can't all go around throwing up 200 mil contracts to aging players who are out of their primes
@ can you name any players they hypothetically would have drafted in those slots that would be ready to make an impact right now?
The only bad habit this team had was being complete garbage at home in the playoffs since 2018. Nationals & Braves & Rangers embarrassing them at home is ridiculous.
Well the main reason why Astros owner Jim Crane dosen’t do longterm contracts is because he want to keep winning and 5 years is best , but I do agree that it is best for the them to trade these guys and get something out of it before they hit free agency.
The problem with the astros is the owner. He's always trying to make a splash and that fucks with team chemistry more often than not
Give the 2017 World Series trophy BACK. And only then will I even consider rooting for my hometown team again.
This isnt a new trend for Houston. Dayton McClain let go of Lance Berkman and Roy Oswalt.
Shohei Ohtani he deserves every penny he gets
He’s one of the best pitchers in baseball .
As a Rangers fan, you *love* to see it 😊
Maybe the Astros thought there were the Patriots of baseball.
duh...our 2017 outfield was brantley, springer and tucker with alvarez as the dh,,,,now our outfield is worst in MLB
I’m an Astros fan. But let’s be real Bregman can’t hit without the trash can 🗑️
Mam Stop the Cap 😂
Almost 5 WAR last season, but he "can't hit" mmmmmkayyyy honey 😂
@@ryanupchurch9683 ye astros fan from NY 😂
Jim Crane doesn’t like giving out long term deals and honestly I’m fine with it because based on history those long term contracts does not work out and during the later years those contracts are going to look ugly when guys hit their early to mid thirties
I agree with Cane it’s just not smart to give these guys long contract and you have to be on the books for it once guys are on decline.
They have been smart and don’t pay players before it’s too late. Not paying Correa 200 mil has been smart.
I applaud them for being smart about contacts and reinventing themselves year after year they know how to pivot
one of the reasons there pitching staring to suck is because they based there pitching on the shift now the shift is banned.
The next Astros Core are 16-21 years old. They will slowly one by one be called up.
The real question is why did they stop banging the trash can? They werent punished. They must agree it's just a piece of metal anyway.
I will never hate the Nationals for knocking these turkeys off of their perch.
Houston adds Teoscar Santander or Profar it’s a better team than last year
6:00
How are they too cheap and too small market?
"My my how the turn tables.."
“The turns have tabled”
Honestly for how dominant the astros were for 7,8 years they kinda choked away what could have been an all time dynasty and ill explain why
2017: championship
2018: beat handedly by red sox no conplaint there
2019: heavy favorites, up 3-2 in W.S with 2 games at home and lost some how lost...
2020: down 3-0 in ALCS won 3 in a row to tie series obly to blow game 7 and lose
2021: beat handedly by braves so no complaint there
2022: championship
2023: altuve homerun in 9th to take a 3-2 lead going to houston with two games to win one. Somehow lost both.
I hate that we couldn’t get Carlos Correa!
Trash Can is their MVP
How dare you?!?! Take it all back or may this negative karma haunt the BoSox for generations (again).
I just wish the Astros* a good next season and that the owner invest in his team for the sake of the franchise, city and the fans. Appreciate the work you do iTalk studios 👏🏽👍🏽 go Dodgers 🏆
The most important Astos player was that trash can!😂😂😂😂😂
Guess they shoulda used bullpen phone.
And we still won the WS without them. We'll be just fine! 😂
Yeah should the Stros used an Apple Watch like the Red Sox?
@@petepyeatt6909the Trashstros used chest buzzers
😆🤣😂
Springer is a diva, poor team mate, and was jealous of Altuve as team leader. He is not a winner.
@@JustLikeHeaven77 haha how was Springer a bad teammate?
@@DixonCider1234
He's a crybaby seeking attention.
Why doesn't anyone mention how Jose Altuve tested positive for PED'S?
?? When lmao
Dudes gonna eat his words
