Love to see some sponsor interaction in the comments :) You should make Emma your spokes person :) Any chance you guys will get a norwegian dealership anytime soon? Have been looking to upgrade my DIY Cardboard/Parchement/Aluminium Foil selfmade lightdome and construction site lamp monster, but was hoping to rent and test your color light for a couple of days and test out in my shop/workshop/studio, but can’t seem to find any dealerships here in Norway?
@@iFootageInternational Great :) Norway isn’t the biggest market in terms of people, like compared to Sweden, but there are a large enthusiast crowd with money to burn, even in these slightly trying times :) Having just started making videos myself after almost a year of planning and testing and fixing audio and what not I decided to just «do it», and made the first video about how I on a «zero+» budget could build a somewhat usable keylight with a softbox made from cardboard and alu-foil and parchement paper to minic a proper light setup and see how well it could work (of course the major drawback is not being able to adjust the strength so multiple layers of parchment is necessary to adjust strength of the light, and with three videos done and at least 10 more planned I’m definitely in the market for a reasonable priced product to up the flexibility and effectiveness of my setup for the product shoots I’m planning for my shop :)
NOTE: Most of the body of the SL1 200BNA is metal, including the yoke that attaches to light stands. However, the outer portion of the Bowens mount is hard to tell - seems like plastic.
I see the amarans all over professional sets now. As long as you have them in a case, they hold up extremely well. I see more and more owner operators/van operators leaning heavily on the amaran series as it is cheaper, smaller and lighter, with the same or near same professional quality. I guess it's a sign of the times. Great job Emma!
Amazingly well done for your debut as presenter and the chemistry between you both works great with the expert editing on the whole thing together! The product review is of the highest standard as is to be expected. Please more of this dynamic duo. :)
Loved Emma's shades the whole time. Emma did some excellent due diligence in testing the build. The callouts to answer your questions were a great touch. 10/10
From EmJu to CuJu, defiitely great reivews. And reviews are a good thing. Tedious perhaps, but absolutely NEEDED in this community of A/V folks. Bravo! add this one to the portfolio/highlight/demo reel.
i say this with utmost respect and admiration, but the moment she puts on glasses, man, i swear, the uncanny resemblance to young steve lukather from the band TOTO... also i watched all the way to the end. she's awesome.
Wasn't expecting this. The only thing missing towards the end was Emma coming in with her own additional tip: "Now there is quite a bit of hiss in your audio Dad. Let's see what we can do if we drop your track into audition and apply the following..." 😅 I hope she doesnt see this as critisism but as the loving suggestions they are to further perfect her future videos. Having said that: Much prefer her hairstyle over yours Curtis! Sorry.
Hey Curtis - ifootage recently released a 40° spotlight mount similar to Amaran's spotlight se. Any chance you'll review it? Its hard to find any reliable reviews.
I highly enjoyed this video! Go Emma! Ifootage has not being pushing their led lights as much as i thought they would. They haven't sent out review samples to as many channels and they don't sell through Adorama it appears. I want these guys to do well and grow but it seems no one knows about their lights which are highly competitive to others on the market while being a much smaller company.
I have the iFootage stand. I have the SeaStar quick release on a ballhead (all from iFootage), and that is where I put my Rodecaster Pro 2. It allows me to tilt it to my liking,I do have a round sandbag on it, so it's plenty stable. Works great! - Keep it up, Emma I like your style, (CuJu or OB1 will train you well in the art of reviews young Rey)
Right out of a PTA movie, she's so cool and dare I say slightly more cinematic than dad (only slightly okay). Great review, thanks! Considering an all rounder light for fill.
I was hoping for Emma to say, "If you don't want to see my review of the ifootage 200BNA, you are dismissed" Classic Curtis line when he knows people will leave "comments" about this and that.
I will say while the color is pretty impressive, the build quality of at iFootage leaves something to be desired. I had one of their smaller lights and was turn off by the build quality, Non intuitiveness of the controls and awful on/off switch. The amaran is just quicker and easier to use in most cases.
Bummer that the 200BNA housing is plastic. The metal housing was the major selling point on the 320DN and 60DN. Do want a bicolor light around 200w, but don’t know that I want a plastic one. Would pay more for metal. Interesting.
@@curtisjudd I just checked my 60DN and 320DN. They both have metal side walls, but the fan grates, rear panels, and bowens mounts are a plastic material. I've been pretty hard on mine over the last two years or so, and can say I'd trust the plastic bowens mount to hold lanterns just fine. If the 200DNA is the same build, then it's good to go. Not as rugged as an old Mole Richardson, or an ARRI, but good enough for casual use and in studio. Cheers.
Finally we know who was speaking all this time 😂 she looks like a member of an 80s rock band, like Metallica, nice review, but is unavailable in B&H :-/
Love iFootage, have their big tripod and a Monopod, both amazing quality and value. And quite a good start into a new, very crowded market. But they will have to fill out their ecosystem to at least somewhat match Aputure/Amaran AND bring their usual level of quality (PLASTIC YOKE? WTF!). Then i will happily buy into their system.
Why would anyone use c stands for lights? They are not stable because they cannot extend their base much, they cannot get very high, they are very heavy for their load bearing and height capability, the boom is too small for a light. Manfrotto make very good affordable light stands and even a high end Walimex that costs a little lrss is superior to a c stand.
@@curtisjudd Manfrotto make a full range of dedicated light stands, booms, and accessories. You will find them in the Lighting supports, control, and background solutions catalog, and in the cine support catalog. For low heights and portable application, they have the 1005bac model. Tripod design, so it holds the bar in two places, adjustable symmetric base, very fast setup, very low weight and does everything one may need in a low ceiling situation. They have direct equivalents to the c stand that do a better job with lights but with steel and aluminum option, wheels, etc and also versions for high heights and weights.
Very refreshing. I was surprise that she was so fluent even it was her first review. (may be a little bit of break between sentences could be better) I would love to see more review like this. (Or adding secondary opinion by Emma would be great too.) Great job Emma!
A star is born! It's clear that Emma had a great teacher. Looking forward to more of her reviews!
🎉
I think its soo cool that we can clearly hear the family in the way Emma speaks. Intonation, humor, tempo..
So many similarities. Whilst expected, still heartwarming
Curtis, bring Emma back for more reviews. She knows her tech and has a great voice and delivery.
Thank you Emma for reviewing our light! Keep crushing it 🙌
