I loved Piranesi! I feel like the reading experience was less about the mystery and more about the atmosphere and mood the writing was able to create.

I love the little inserts you do, where you show the cover of the book and give a bit of background about the author and the book. I enjoy this podcast so much!

Piranesi was a fun read for me! I don't usually read fantasy but I found it really fun.

I loved Piranesi! I don't think Raeleen's description of the story did it justice. It's not a simple book.

Piranesi is such a strange book, but I wouldn't say it is fantasy. I cannot put it in a genre box, because it's so unique. Nevertheless, it's a great read, I loved it.

"This much gray for this long.." HAHA, this is how I feel 90% of the time as I live in the city in Norway where it rains the most in a year. As you said, if it's not raining, it's probably cloudy. Some years it feels as though we have autumn all year around (something I feel like a lot of my bookfriends would LOVE, haha) but I love summer so much and I never get enough of the sun, haha! When the sun is out I'm just like "OMG I FEEL ALIVE!!" but then you also get so stressed out because you know it's one of the few lovely days in a while so you feel like you need to do everything outside all day, hahaha. Hope you get some sun soon, Ariel!

I love this podcast! It's literally the only one that I listen to! Just a question, I haven't watched this episode yet, but are Books Unbound still planning to do book clubs? Feels like we haven't had 1 for a while.
Also, anyone else noticed that Ariel and Raeleen used to alternate doing the intro, and now only Ariel does it? Wonder if there's a reason for that🤔

I'm realizing that when it comes to fantasy or magical realism books, that I have completely opposite taste from you guys. It's so interesting to hear your thoughts from a different perspective though!

Yes! We have two big literary prizes called the Akutagawa Prize and the Naoki Prize in Japan.
If I’m not mistaken, the Akutagawa Prize is for a genre called “pure literature” which is generally defined as novels that emphasize literary characteristics. (The category exists only in Japan, and is simply “literature” in other countries.)
On the other hand, the Naoki Prize is for Science fiction, fantasy, mystery novels, etc. which are sometimes referred to “popular literature” to distinguish them from “pure literature” in Japan.
“Popular literature” is literature that emphasizes content. By “content,” we mean the flow of the story and how the plot unfolds.

The shoes scene is where I stopped reading Magical Thinking. It has been on my "currently reading" on Goodreads since 2021. It is an amazing book, but I cried every single chapter. I need to finish it!

I HAVE A HACK! I saw a video a while back where this woman used Rit dye and a carpet cleaner, and she dyed her carpet black. I don't know how interested you would be in having a black carpet, but if it's already stained and you already hate it... why not give it a try! I'm so sorry about your paint woes but I hope this helps!❤❤

I heavily disliked Piranesi. I hated that it had the genre fantasy in it because i went in expecting a different story. The only thing I liked was I read it at the beach + the heavy ambience was a nice lil reading experience but i really did not vibe with the mystery or story lol

OMG I did not enjoy Piranesi either. I only finished it because - GDI I am going to try and figure this book out. When it was revealed I just thought - that's it? I think there are a lot of people on the hype train for this book.
