Love your enthusiasm for saving these classics! As a real Scandinavian, I grew up in Volvos; as a child in a 1970 145, as a teenager in a 1977 244 and a 1981 244. My first own car was a 1979 244GLE, before updating to the hammer of the time: the 740TIC with the B230FT... This iconic TIC is now in a collector´s "museum". I miss it, although today driving the most bullet proof vehicle of all; the one and only Toyota Land Cruiser. Keep up your very fine work, mate!!
I loved the VGG intro 😂 This beauty is definitely an exciting project and I am very excited as to what's next! I can't say for certain on the Weber 32/34s. But my Weber 32/36s need the petal mashed down once to set the "fast idle" which allows it to idle at higher RPMs when cold.
High oil on the dip stick could indicate water in the sump. Water displaces the oil upwards. Take care. But it is a nice looking 740. Boot space is something I had not considered before. I think it's a bit much to say you and Mrs. Involvo'd would be comfortable in there, and a third person would be downright awkward. I would be a little concerned about that big electrical connecter hanging down under the dash. Somebody has been "improving" the electrics. I saved my shallow comment 'til last. We viewers are utterly charmed by Mrs. Involvo'd with her smile and bangs. And she helps out when you need another hand somewhere else on the car. She's a keeper.
I see your videos, never commented before. I live in Sweden and am a member of the Swedish Volvo Club. If you need parts and stuff, let me know. We have a lot here in Sweden and I have a few bits and peices in the basement myself.
6:41 - a familiar problem - on the left, the rubber stop does not push out the engine roof, you need to turn the stop on the TV, where you push it, I played with two stops and eventually achieved it)))
I can completely understand you looking at this car what a beautiful thing that interior is next level! So cool can’t wait to see more on this one. Great video
Many thanks for another excellent video. What a gem you have found ! Like you say it looks in really good order. The engine bay looks really clean given the alleged mileage. Miss Involvo'd to the rescue on the bonnet pull. Really good that you have got it to fire up after standing for a year. Looks a nice setting and location albeit that you have lost Garage space compared to where you were before. Hope you both have a great Christmas !
What a find, car looks mint. Loved the VGG intro. Good thing that the previous owner got rid of the Pierburg carb. Had one on my 740 as well, they are the worst. Replaced mine with a Weber 38/38, running much better now!
Caved for the carb at last then 😁 loved the video, definitely found a good one there. Also good that you can fit Webers to these engines, just makes parts that much easier to get for them.
Great to see it in proper light, looks sweet! If you like I can provide you the proper jet sizes and tuning instructions for this carb on a B230K, as I still have the manual that came with the carb. Also, no need to take the carb off of the manifold since you can reach the jets from the top, unless you plan on doing more servicing on it.
Hey, I could have done with that info a few days back when I spent many hours trying to find the correct jet sizes 😅 I've ordered some, hopefully they are right. I'll take the info you have though that would be great 😃 Are you on social media?
@@nandinevestry2790 hi, sorry I don't have a manual for the 2B5 or 2B7, but the Haynes manual for the 760&740 has some pretty decent info for these carbs
My 85 Pontiac 6000 has the same issue where the hood needs a hand lifting when pulling the release. Just means the hood is real heavy and won't go past the release latch because the spring is old and weak.
Thanks for the video! That such a nice looking car! Definitelly carb video will be interesting. I must admit those Isuzu Troopers were distracting me at the beginning 😅. I was considering one, but eventually sticked with 240 😂. But their boxiness is very appealing 😂 Cheers mate!

Friend, I have a Volvo 740 gle from 1988, petrol and gas, it costs a lot to get it. I give the key several times and it won't start. I'm getting very sad, because it was a childhood dream to buy a 740. Please help me!
Oh I had endless troubles with those Pierburgs and their useless automatic chokes, they always failed after a few years. The starter sounds different to most red blocks too strangely 🤔
В230К have carburetor 2B7 Pierburg and Heron Head and pistons for this head from 1987... When camshaft belt brakes, the pistons and valves will meet, intill 1987 there was no such thing in the old design (B230K, 530 Head with his pistons and Carburettor 2B5 Pierburg)... Old design don't have meetings with pistons and valves...
Lol modern cars in "almost good condition": rustbucket, probably we are lucky and a simple piston swap will suffice. Volvo that is as old as me, "bad condition": just swap the battery and re-jet the carb :)
fuckin awesome score. those wheel give it 80s American cop car vibes just missing the spot light. then its carbureted.. even fucking cooler.
Exactly that! I tried that set up a while ago on my wagon but it just didn't look right, it's perfect on a dark coloured saloon 😄
Intro was *chefs kiss* 😆
Thanks buddy 😄
The VGG intro is dynamite funny! Miss Involvo is lovely, she even gave the 740 a nice pat. Wonderful video, the Mrs and I enjoyed it!
High praise, thank you both! 😃

I had a semi automatic choke like that once on an old Toyota, does yours have a cable?
You called it: getting the plastic in without it breaking will be the biggest challenge with this car.
Haha definitely 😅

Good to see it up and running. you don't see many 740s that early so it's definitely wotth a save!

Cracking 740 mate! I used to own a 1990 2.0 740 estate, Lovely old barge, Now own a 1995 850 T5 wagon and a MK1 C70 2.3 hardtop! liked and subbed 👌

AMAZING !! TODAY I JUST BOUGHT ONE LIKE THIS ONE !! AMAZING VIDEO HELLO FROM BUENOS AIRES

Lovely car indeed and the engine seems smooth despite the carb. Interested in the carb rebuild video as well
