- This new M2 is a lot better than I expected. I still need to spend some actual time with it to complete my driving impressions, but enjoy this fun first drive at the MAMA 2023 Spring Rally.

Agree it looks way better in person. Saw one for the first time last week and it looked really good. BMW are saying that the current M2/3/4 will be BMW’s last models with a manual gearbox 😢
lets hope they changed their mind and dont stop producing, only sells number will tell them that we still want it.
I just saw that the 2025 M2 will have Xdrive and are thinking of having just the 8 speed auto but it’s not final yet.
@@weduhpeople8504 Where did you "see" that? It's false information. 2026 may see X Drive, but not 2025. 2025 cars are getting 20 more HP, though, plus likely some relatively minor enhancements. I have one on order (pending allocation).
Great video. I just got the M2 6 speed manual press car yesterday, same color, but mine had the Carbon Bucket seats. I loved my 2016 M2.

Finally a video with the cognac interior. Honestly I wouldn’t mind trading my G80X for a M2. Seems like a bargain in comparison since you get the same engine, breaks and etc. but for a whole lot less money.

The new manual in the m2 is so good and much better then the f87
M4 starts at 30% more than an M2. I wouldn't call that just a "little" bit more regardless of the price range.

How the reliability on the new G80? Also I want to get the manual G80 but I don’t know if to go for the new ID8 screen or the old one. The only one looks beautiful but a lot of people are saying the new one is really cool once you get used to it. What do you think is the better screen ?
A friend has owned a G80 M3 since new (march 2021) and it now has around 40k miles on it. Absolutely no issues to report as of now and there has been beaten on on track multiple times. It also has the older screens and they look so much better, their integration in the dashboard is perfect.

S58 is really reliable and BMW's new engines are overall really reliable

Did you get a manual or automatic?
@@eternallogic6394 went with manual. didn't mind the zf in my g80 xdrive (it wasn't bad but the dct was the one thing the f80 did better than the g80) but the m2 will be a weekender for me so went with the more engaging transmission.

Any thoughts on the fake noise? I’m 80% sure it does a fake boom on upshifts too, as it does in the automatic versions. It’s sooo painful to me and comes across badly on video but curious on your perspective.

I’m glad I didn’t get a manual. Hondas have better manuals than bmw. Not sure why people are so obsessed with manuals. I’ve driven them for decades and do not miss them one bit. Sequential shifting and the technology with these transmissions are far superior. I still feel connected with the vehicle when utilizing sequential shifting.

The best thing about owning the new m2 is when you are in it you don't have to see how ugly the outside is.

Not sure why you would opt to get this over the m4. Objectively can do the same thing (same drivetrain), no big weight difference in rwd, both polarizing cars in their own right but I'd say the m4 has been better received in the looks department. The cherry on top for me would be that the m4 has more room inside and without these being a purpose built car its a no brainer to me. Unless you're trying to save money but who is penny pinching when looking at a brand new M car, don't think money is the main factor.
I rather get the M240 with a manual transmission and save about $9000. It is easier to live with and can do almost as an M2.
Edit: No more manual transmission in 230 or the M240.

Just a note: Now that there's engines AND motors in many cars, I think it's important to be specific.... This thing has an Engine, not a motor.

really bothered by the tach on the right. every car iv driven tach is on left speedo on right. this just hurts my eyes i couldnt drive it
The instruments are horrible. Analog or bust.
