It’s crazy how simple these modifications are but they enhance the design greatly IMO. That fake r2-d2 is genius! I hope LEGO makes a UCS Jedi interceptor one day it’s my favorite ship in SW

thank you so much for this video! i have used a few of these mods on my set and it makes it way better. i have done the r2 modification, the landing gear, the buzz droid and my own design of engines. the modifications certainly make this one of my favourite sets in my collection.

The actual ship can fit an entire astromech droid, but I love the interior and landing gear, and the build looks great!

This redesign feels like a genuine improvement to the 2014 one and would have definitely warranted a rerelease so soon after the original. It is not only better designed, but is more accurate and creative! It always bothered me how neither the 2014 or 2020 Anakin Jedi Interceptors had Buzz Droids, and your builds of them are superior to the official ones! All it needs is some printing on the wings like the official ones and it would make this definitive Buzz Droid even better.
Another thing I love about it is that it’s definitely possible to build your improvement even if you don’t have many pieces, it is still achievable.
Once I manage to track down this set, I am definitely improving on it using your design.
I wish for a set that has Anakin’s and Obi-Wan’s Jedi interceptor, a Tri-Fire droid and a Vulture droid to make a remake of the Coruscant space battle. A set I have always wanted since I was a kid, but is now probably the price of a Video Game console.

@@2bricks I’ve actually just modded my 2011 millennium Falcon to be able to fit 6 figures in the cockpit, and I think by using your design it looks a lot better than most of the other renditions of it.

I'm personally going to use your cockpit and landing gear design but I will try to modify R2's seat so that it still fits the astromech and still conceal the it under the Interceptor's wings. Great mod/upgrade all in all and to be honest the design for R2 is still ingenious. I personally just want a full r2 mini fig to fit inside the ship while still looking clean and thin.

Why doesn't lego build their R2 or whatever droids with those circular 2x2 studded tiles? That would allow all droids to rotate their heads easily and raise them up by one tile. Plus that piece comes in a lot of different colors. I wish that had existed when I was a kid, I used square rotating pieces that were the same color as the main droid body but that is much slicker.
I couldn’t agree more! That and lightsaber blades with a white core are 2 things I’ve been wanting out of lego star wars for 20 years. Oh and a battle droid with 2 independent legs
I can see how that would be expensive for Lego to produce, having to inject a smaller white bit into the saber blades. Would be neat but probably not cost effective.
For battle droids, probably a cost or complexity thing. They were most likely using parts they had already and simply made colors to match what they needed. I agree tho, all the droids would look neat with fully working legs. The Super's would definitely benefit as the Lego ones are hardly taller than the regular battle droids.
I think you should use those slop piece that has like a targeting system for one part of the cockpit
If you have access to that piece you should use it on your one!!

Only thing I'd say (beyond redoing the entire thing, but I digress) Is that the astromech's shoulders actually stick up a bit on the actual ship; I'd like to see that incorporated
Nice! I like your cockpit, I may incorporate that into my modified Anakin and Obi Wan interceptors. I also added landing gear, but on a ball joint so they could stand vertically under the sloped wings, plus I made the wings a couple plates thicker because I couldn’t stand how paper thin they look, accuracy be damned. But I’m able to slip each droid in and not have it look unreasonable.
Now you’re making me wish for your take on modifying the Razor Crest. I found a couple other people with nice ideas for adding the carbon freezing chamber, a gun rack, the vac tube, and making the engines look a bit more realistic. Anything in the hopper on that one?!?!

Thanks K Crain! I’ve been hesitant to do anything with the razor crest since so many people have done great mods of it but I kind of want to play around with it...maybe I’ll get around to an official mod if I come up with anything cool :)
I get that, but there are some of us (👋🏻) that like your visual take on all things lego Star Wars! My BrickLink want list is full of 2Bricks designs. No mod is perfect, so it’s helpful to get more perspectives and viewpoints on what’s possible. Just my $0.02.

Big specific feature I'm trying to work out on the Razor Crest: foldable landing gear! I found one mod on Rebrickable that attempts it, but I'm not sure it will actually hold up and not collapse when extended. My lego collection is pretty small, so it's more challenging to work out without the parts physically in hand.

10:53 the humps on the bottom are accurate. It’s seen on every Eta 2 Actis interceptor, from the movies to the games.
Yeah I think those may have been added right before the release of revenge of the Sith because I recall the summer of 2005 when I was incredibly hyped for the movie seeing early pictures of the ship without them - but you’re right they do appear in the film version and have since

Nice build LEGO should have made more improvements because they've barely touched the cockpit at all. also regarding the Movie Artoo body not fitting in the wing. this ship reappeared in Clone Wars Season 5. They made the Interceptor a little bit bigger to make it so that Astromechs actually fit in there on the 3-D model. And Anakin had a bit more room in his cockpit. It was a design flaw that was easily fixed in the cartoon.

Thanks!! And I actually use after effects - which isn’t meant for editing at all but for...well...effects! But I know the program so well from my background as a vfx artist and it lets me make a lot of visual tweaks that I like as I’m editing.
Idk what’s going on! when i was like 8 i got the green interceptor for $30 !!! We got a ship,like 4 figs and 2 structures

The green interceptor was a great set, no doubt! That one was a $40 set and a target exclusive in the US though, so I believe target pays for the ability to have it be exclusive so that helped them pack a bit more value into that one. Just a theory! I think lego is always tweaking their designs to see what they can offer us for a certain amount of money - inflation certainly plays a role! I like that they are doing an attempt with the x wing and tie fighter to give us cheaper ships, and I hope it’s a success but I’d personally rather pay more and get more. Personally I don’t mind paying for just the ship and letting the terrain stuff fall to the wayside - or make it into its own set like the duel on mustafar! What I do want to see more of is figures to flesh out the scenes with. Nute Gunray and the security battle droid in that set really made it a great figure pack but also meant you could play out the whole scene from Anakin wiping out the separatists to dueling Obi wan (if you forget about padme being there I guess).
In summary: I dunno, some sets are better than others but I think our nostalgia makes it hard to look at these things totally objectively 🤷🏻♂️

Check out the listing on rebrickable linked in the description, and there’s a part there that says “this moc is a modification of set x” with a picture of the official set. Clicking that will take you to a comparison page with a list of the unique parts I used on the left and the parts from the official set on the right. The left column has the option to export it as a parts list, which you can copy and paste over to bricklink

These you need to buy/find, they are not in the Original 75281 set.
Sorry, that’s something that rebrickable has to try and cover as many types of situations as possible, but it’s rather confusing :s the unique parts on the side of my moc are the ones you want to order, but as you say it’s definitely not very user friendly. Let me know if you’re able to get it to work!
