I got this game and played it a bit with my friend/roommate. It takes a bit, but man I love it. Especially being a huge Dune fan. Now if only I could find enough people to play the old 80s version of Dune board game you've talked about before.
@@RTFM I never played Emperor myself though I’m of the understanding that it ruled. I need to play spice wars more tho, it’s a great 4-player free for all game.
You mentioned opposing player choosing retreat location only for the atomics, This is the rule in general. whenever a legion retreats the opponent chooses where.
In FAQ Rules modifications 3.0, there is a new rule for end of combat: Victorious Legions are not forced to advance: If a battle ends in a victory for the attacking player, the attacking Legion Legion (all Units and Leaders) CAN be moved into the attacked Area or remain were it was (they don't have to advance)
For the first round only the attacking player adds 1 free special * die result to their combat roll. Basically a free special leader ability. (page 24) The combat die D6 have 3 hits symbols, 2 shields, and 1 special result when rolled.
Thank you for the video it helped a lot for our first few games! One quick question: can the Atreides player look at the Sietch level? We considered he couldn't during our games, but why? I don't really get it, it's a very hard games against Harkonnens, if you have any tips I'd gladly take it 🙂
19:53 Here you state that taking strategy action allows you to move 2 different legion and so on. In your example, you move a legion with a Leader tho. Isn’t this action only possible by taking Leadership ? Thank!
As the other commenter said, the settlement minis are KS exclusive. I didn't realize that when I was filming otherwise I probably would've just used the tokens. I believe everything else in this video comes in the retail.
Had my first game last night, was playing Harkonnen. How much spise should I expect to get in a turn? What's normal? I got 5 in turn 1 and 9 in turn 2. I won in turn 3. 9 felt like a REALLY good turn?
9 is a lot! I'm guessing you got lucky with the wormsigns and spent a house action or two to get more harvesters on the board? Your opponent must also not have prioritized attacking your harvesters. Winning on round three is pretty fast as well. Did you get lucky on attacking both 3 point sietches right away?
@@RTFM I dropped 2-3 harvesters near the edge when he was done activating. Only 1 was attacked and saved by a transport, and 1 inland was eaten, I had 6 harvesters on board there. :D Bought 2 VP for spices and I guess I attacked som of his settlements, getting mostly 2 VP and the very last 3 points, ending on 12.

Great rules explanation
@@MichaelBomholt Thanks!
At 9:35 => FAQ 3.0 says if 2 or 3 markers are going down each card is revealed :)
Great explanation by the way 😊
@@florentmorel2089 Yep, there's a note for that one in the description and Klingon subtitles.

Awesome game. I had for a few months. Didn't know about the FAQ 3.0. Thank you for the rules video, with updates.

Happy to help!
I actually got into Dune through the recent computer game Spice Wars. Love it to death… I should play it again
Oh yeah Spice Wars is fun.
I was playing Spice Wars recently too! Good game, though it kinda just made me miss Emperor.

Imperium bans changed in FAQ 3.0. You no longer choose one from among those that moved down, they all activate.
yeah, all bans activate now.
Thanks a lot
I tried to find a good french video rules
But yours way better and clearer
Plus fun
Great job!

Ah, that's a good spot, thanks! I'll make a note.

In FAQ Rules modifications 3.0, there is a new rule for end of combat:
Victorious Legions are not forced to advance:

Yep, there's a note about that in the description, though it looks like I didn't make a subtitle. That's fixed now.
I didn't understand the surprise attack at 26:07: so there's a special die but what does it do? What's the meaning of "+*"?
For the first round only the attacking player adds 1 free special * die result to their combat roll. Basically a free special leader ability. (page 24) The combat die D6 have 3 hits symbols, 2 shields, and 1 special result when rolled.
It means any dice bonus
My very first Dune experience, was the battle for Arrakis, for Sega Genesis. And than in my late teens/early 20s, I wstched the origonal film.
Can you play the Harkomnens for solo mode?
Not in the base game. They might make one in the future, but I don't know if that's planned or not.
@@RTFM Ok, thank you!

You can look at your own sietches' levels, yes.
19:53 Here you state that taking strategy action allows you to move 2 different legion and so on. In your example, you move a legion with a Leader tho. Isn’t this action only possible by taking Leadership ? Thank!
It's actually the other way around. Strategy actions can move any legions, whereas Leadership actions can only move legions with leaders.
What page of the rules includes the mid-round win condition for Atredies (by taking Arrakis)
Page 10 in the prescience track section.
Is this all the base game components or have you got some extras? I.e the sitech/arrakeen miniature strongholds
The Sietch/Arrakeen/Ecological Centre Miniatures aren't in the retail base game. They were part of the Kickstarter bonus I think

_"This is war, sublime war!"_
If an atreides moves into an area occupied only by a harvester, does a carryall save it, or does it only save it from sandworms
Carryalls only protect harvesters from sandworms, and only during Desert Hazards
Did I hear correctly? You’ll put together a how to play for the solo mode?
Yep! I'll be releasing that one in a couple weeks.
