Question of the day is Does Riding a Slingshot, T-Rex, Can am Spyder, Vanderhall, any variation of 3 wheel Trike, make you a wannabe rider? Leave your answer below.
I would like to thank all the people who have subscribed to my TH-cam channel and all the New followers on my Instagram... I couldn't do it without you guys. Summer is almost here and there is alot of change coming soon. Bikelife is exactly that... a lifestyle thats non stop. They are just different. People should ride whatever they like. I own a ninja. Before I bought a motorcycle I was thinking of a CANAM SPYDER. I used to like it’s aesthetic and it seem far less intimidating than a motorcycle. However, since the first time I ever saw the CAMPAGNA TREX I have desperately wanted one, even more than the corvette I always wanted. WHY? Because where I live in the middle of CALI I have never ever seen one on the wild. Being different is appealing to me and the TREX stands out more than the rest (IMO). But people need to stop hating and start showing love for the interested of others.
I agree people should definitely ride and drive what they like with no worries about other people's opinions but reality is most don't and very few do what they choose, like and love. Your absolutely correct about standing out and the Trex being appealing from that aspect. I'm the same way and that's what will always be the most intriguing thing about these machines outside of looks.
I have been riding two wheel motorcycles my entire life, now that I'm much older, I switched over to a Can-Am Spyder. In my opinion, if you're in the wind and you're taking the risk of giving your life to the road, you're a rider, not a want to be. It's about freedom and finding your soul out there brother. It does not matter what you're riding as long as you are riding.
I have a '20 Slingshot R and I love it. It might have motorcycle tags but It ain't a bike nor is it a car. It is what it is. It's a blast to drive and I like to ride with bikers when I can because we're all just out enjoying the ride. There aren't many slingshots or similar machines around here so the only way I can get out for a nice ride with a group and hang out is to tag along with some bikers and fortunately there's a local group that's been accepting.. If that makes me wannabe then so be it, I'll take the criticism but I don't consider my slingshot a bike nor do I consider myself a biker. I still usually get the wave and I return it to pay respect but I still don't really feel like a biker, just more relatable than everyone else in their safe little boxes. I wouldn't want to ride with a group of people in their cars cuz it just isn't the same. Us 3 wheelers are kinda stuck in a weird in-between spot where we don't really belong anywhere but I don't really care. I'm just enjoying the ride and most bikers seem get that.

I built my own reverse trike a few years ago and sold my 02 Harley road king. I’m 68 years old and have been riding motorcycles since I was 16. Getting older I started feeling like my reflexes and strength wasn’t as good as they used to be! I’ve had my fun on 2 wheels now rolling on three I don’t have to remember to put the kickstand down when I stop! TH-cam Yamaha VMax reverse trike and you can see my complete build!
Nice I'd definitely like to check out your reverse trike build. Great to get feedback from someone who's been around the block as long as you have... also very informative to know that you observed some of those small things like reflexes slowing down etc. as you got older which are extremely important when riding and made the best decision to switch what you road. Glad your able to still enjoy the open air freedom. Ride on and ride safe 🤙🏼🤘🏼
@@RoadKingSino thanks for the feedback! I’ve built several reverse trike even when I was more able bodied! And I get a kick nowadays that there’s more of a crowd around my reverse trike than the “COOLEST” custom at the shows!
I don't personally see them as "riders" but I am not knocking them at all. I have motorcycles and would love to eventually add a T-Rex to my collection. But I would consider myself a driver of the T-Rex, regardless how it is classified. Everyone is free to ride/ drive what they want. As long as you are enjoying life and having fun, that is all that matters. We all are in search of the same thing in the end.... that love of getting away from the normal everyday car/truck and enjoying whatever it is that gives us that stress-free satisfaction and escape from the bullshit that life can hand you at times. I would and have ridden with people that have both.

You like what you like. You are not a wannabe because you prefer one of those over 2 wheels. People have their own reason why they like those selections. Personally, I want a T Rex myself.
For sure that was truly my point of this whole debate. A person owning any of them isn't classified as a wannabe. It's personal preference. That's I appreciate your input 👍

Yes indeed they do and your definitely not a wannabe. Hell being a rider of all 3 of those give you more experience then most. That's what I was referring to about people who own these and some who own 2 wheel motorcycles aswell.

I think its what makes you feel comfortable.. i own motorcycles and yet i want a trex... i might want to cruise in one.. but im not here to please other people. I enjoying life the way i want to.. either way i have a smile on my face no matter what anyone opinion is
Who gives a shit what anyone thinks! Ride/drive what you want. I have a harley ,suzuki, polaris and a can am ryker my wife rides. Just have fun and enjoy it!

I'm fortunate enough to have a vanderhall & Harley, but I'll say this... The vanderhall will be attending bike week from now on! That traffic with the heat from the Harley is too much... So I will be a wannabe in myrtle... and my Harley is custom...
Hahaha your not a wannabe rider brotha but I feel you. Funny thing is I tend to do the opposite with my trex at events. I ride on 2s most of the time because these trikes require space to park... and when you riding out deep, you can never find enough space 😂🤣.
I have a Honda Fury and love it, but 3 yrs ago I got sick and was in a coma for 5 weeks. When I came out of the coma I couldn't walk so I ride a Slingshot now, still got the wind in my face.
I have a slingshot R, also have a hayabusa, I did not get the slingshot to be a “wannabe” rider. More so then not, I got it cause when I first seen it on the road I thought it looked decent lol furthermore after test driving the slingshot it was much different then riding a street bike. So to answer your question like you asked, I do not think tric owners are wannabe’s, we have formed our own little community of slingshot riders over the years and it has become a lifestyle like anything else among motorist. Ive never traveled outside of my own city to any SS ride outs but I know they exist. Would like to ride with you one day if your ever in the tri State area. Philly jersey or Delaware … stay safe riding out there brother 🙏🏽 enjoy your summer

I have a Harley and a Slingshot on order. Slingshots are categorized as an autocycle. Most states don't require a motorcycle endorsement. Some do require helmets, however.
This is true about the autocycle term 💯👌. Aswell as most states etc. You definitely have the best of both worlds
If I owned a t-rex I can tell you I put my time in on a Hayabusa 1300rz before my accident. So having a t-rex would be dope.

I have 2 can am Spyder’s and a slingshot. I ride what I like to ride… I have ridden a motorcycle.I’ve had a Honda 750 a Yamaha 1000. When I was younger.. l still like motorcycles . Just don’t ride them anymore.. I like 3 wheel better now.. ez to ride now.. 63 years old now.. I just like to ride open air…
T-Rex is the ultimate but it's too expensive, the slingshot is wicked too but the engine needs to be in the back of the vehicle, otherwise you might as well just get a convertible mustang or Camaro.
They both have there pros and cons. At the end of the day you gotta get what makes you happy.
I bought my Slingshot in 2016 new from the dealership in Ohio and I was required to have a motorcycle endorsement to buy it.So yes I do ride on two also .

I have a friend that owns a SLINGSHOT & he once told me to get one ; but in my opinion like I told him ; if I had the $ then I wld get a T-REX.. I LIKE'M BETTER OVER A SLINGSHOT

I had to sale my bike because of a illness that affected my legs. I have a Vanderhall Carmel now.i never wanted to be anything but someone that enjoys being out in the wind.

They aren't motorcycles they have there own lane. But i have noticed most people that have them are afraid to get on any two wheels but i don't know every one so to each is own but haters gone hate lovers gone love.
For sure they definitely have there own lane. I know people who fit in both categories... some ride and own 2s some don't and never will. Absolutely right about to each is own because at the end of the day it's all about what a person feels comfortable riding at that point.

Definately not wanna-bes. Yes, there are the exceptions that get obe of these to hang with actual bikes. They also do that with quad runners. Let's get it straight though,...quad runners and bike take totally different skill levels. I do feel that Can-am Spyder owns are probably people that want most of what a bike offers but with added safety. I dont feel the same about the T-rex, Vanderhall, or Sling shot. They share much more in common with cars than bikes. If anything a Vanderhall owner is a wanna-be Shelby Cobra owner. Most dont know that a Vanderhall is 2WD.
I happen to know that some of my friends like trikes over 2 wheel motorcycles, because of their handicap and or better stability, I like trikes & have driven a few different Can-Ams before, that are clutchless & have very responsive power and feel, I own 3 different motorcycles & 2 cars, as well as a Zero 4 fun.

Some people may not be able to ride a 2 motorcycle because of medical reasons and get a 3 wheeler to get the thrill of a 2 wheel

My kids are grown , I’m not to interested in a bike , I have two , but can’t take my dog , so I’m looking into one of these , I have a jeep , but want something I can have fun in .

If it's got a steering wheel it's absolutely not a motorcycle and driving around in one of those there are no transferable skill sets that would even go over to a motorcycle. It's just a big boy toy that's all it is. I wish I could afford one they look like a blast to drive on a cool summer night. As for how it's classified the state had to put some kind of classification on it. If you own one you're probably happy that it is classified as a motorcycle because your insurance is a little cheaper.
That's definitely facts on a good part of your statement. Skills can for sure only be shown on the 2 wheel motorcycle and I really don't think many Rex owners Slingshot owners etc. Gloat and talk about there 2 wheel riding skills while they in these. But I also feel that the stigma of a wannabe rider comes mostly from riders on 2s who alot of times barely have a skill set the motorcycle they ride themselves. Hey I need your help I'm planning on getting one of these t-rex but do you need a motorcycle license for the t-rex I know you don't have to have a license for the sling shot
Back when I first got my Trex, before the Slingshot was out, you needed to have a motorcycle endorsement because it was registered as a motorcycle. Since then there has been some law changes but the best thing you could do is check with your local DMV. If your registered as a motorcycle I would be on the safe side and get a motorcycle license but I'm sure there are states that don't require one.
I ride bikes my wife want me to be safe so I get the T-Rex

They are not a rider. If you sit down in it its more like a car / go cart you are driving it. . If you you sit more on it / on top of it your are riding it. IMO.

I used to think being able to pop a wheelie with something special, until I almost broke my damn neck. I have plenty of experience on two wheel motorcycles, but once the smoke cleared, and I healed up, I was done with them.

The Trex is a little more then a Zx14 motorcycle with fuel exhaust due to the added weight of the trike. Now sure what the Slingshot fuel consumption is.

No they don't but there are mods that you can do that can assist in shifting

Sitting down in a chair with a streering wheel in front of you means you're in a type of car period. A 3 wheeled motorcycle for the older guys that have been riding longer than I've been born. Nothing but respect. But if you're an able bodied young guy/girl on a 3 wheeled motorcycle you're the lowest piece of dirt direct wannabe.
