    Your excitement is contagious. Your friend is happy to grow the vegies, but your excitement boosted her excitement. Thanks for sharing! Happy hydroponicing!

    Hoocho budy! Defo the best vid yet. Why ? Because you were showing someone new how to setup NFT and that’s defo what I need to convince my other half what I’m doing is cool!
    I’ve just finished harvesting some large lettuce from my DIY NFT system. Took about 2 months I think from seedlings ( but I’m in uk so not as good sunshine).
    I have been watching your vids since covid started and getting super inspired with the hydroponics.
    Please please please keep going Hoocho, your my inspiration budy!

    I normally enjoy your vids, but, well, on this occasion I REALLY enjoyed this vid. Your teaching here is great, Mel was lovely, and this will be a great vid for teaching many people about home hydroponics (especially using this Salad Table system).
    Awesome effort!

    Hoocho, informative and entertaining. Nice kit too.
    About the float valve for a collapsable bag.
    1 3way elbow tee slip to slip to slip
    1 3way slip to slip to FIP tee
    2 end caps
    1 hose adapter
    lengths of pvc pipe.
    float valve
    2 pieces of pipe for legs, end caps on fit into elbow tee. 1 piece of pipe to the length of your desired water level, set vertical to elbow tee. Add fip tee. Add top length of pipe with hose adapter. Screw float valve into the FIP of the tee. Set whole assembly into the bag. Add your pump as usual. Connect hose to adapter. Done. Maybe some silicone to the joints to make it water tight but can still disassemble.

    Great content, Hoocho. I am sort of new to hydroponics/aeroponics and am going back and forth between hydroponics towers and these NFT channels only I use piping. I have a horizontal system set up with three layers of tubes with four rows at each level for a total of 108 plants. The water being pumped out of a reservoir up to the top tube and then gravity takes over flowing through the tubing back down to the last tube back into the reservoir.
    In hotter weather the water gets too warm and then bacteria and algae buildup. I then have to change the water every two weeks or so. I can see now these channel systems are far better than the systems constructed out of tubing. I am also experimenting with a biostimulant developed here in Japan that if used correctly causes the root structure to grow much faster and noticeable differences in length and size of roots. This then allows for the plants to absorb more nutrients.

    I don't bother with EC or PH any more. Just top-up the rez with a shot glass of nutrient to 6 litres of water in to a bucket. It's a good average for both Summer & Winter.
    Good video as always Hoocho!

    Awesome! I'm getting close to building a micro version of this setup myself in my tiny apartment. Might be wishful thinking trying to grow indoors with just an east facing window but I have no outdoor space.... Risking my all carpeted floors may also be foolish but hell you make it look so fun.

    I’m bursting with excitement. We do rent. I just bought some birdies raised beds to put on an existing vege garden area to teach my grandsons about growing food. I had a kidney transplant 8 yrs ago and was told not to play in dirt, so to speak. So I’m trying to delegate as much as I can. But this system looks great.
    My concern is the cost of electricity for the pump. I wouldn’t be using light.
    I would be wanting to set up exactly as you have done here.
    I was looking into hydroponics prior to finding you. Love your videos. I’m in SE QLD

  • @timmyssweet
    @timmyssweet 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That system looks great. All of the other system that I've looked at look gimmicky. Sure, I could build one myself, but it would take multiple trips to Bunnings, and I wouldn't have instructions.
    Maintenance is my other concern. Hoocho, please do a vid on minimal maintenance system without fish.

    Amazing. These look like new type hydro downspouts. For someone who’s new, where would I find this ? Downspouts are extremely expensive, I love yours and it looks better then PVC piping; I live in a condo and would really prefer to make a more vertical type one using these downspouts you have;
    From my understanding, when you use a pumping method, you can grow more like fruits and other vegetables then just a standing one; what type of pump is needed for this, Im confused as to which one to get and how powerful…etc.
    Also, I’ve been using soil mix for seedlings; what do you suggest is the best, rockwool….. Oasis…..etc.

    Is the reservoir deigned to have the lid closed? There seems to be a port in the top for a return, and this would reduce evaporation. They might have intended for the rockwool to go inside the net cups

    I'm curious, I would suggest perhaps that with the low ec, the plants might pull more nutrients out which may raise the ph, as the nutrient solution clearly buffered the ph down?
    that might be the reason for the lower dose... which means it'd actually require less res maintenance... which is ideal for newer growers? just a thought?

    I have a problem with a system that I have to hear it run all day and all night. My electrical bill will be up and the plants will die when a storm stops the electricity. Does the fan have to run 24/7 as well, to get oxygen to the plant? It's all too technical for me. I'm out. I'll just use my little jars and pool noodles.

    You would think companies would not skimp on the basics of quality (decent to top of the line products and support) versus quality (makes you feel meh)... thinking for the future of more sales with better improvements and more value and bang for selling to others via an auction for items that are low in stock and then use those proceeds to help with those that had natural disaster hit them... to get back on their feet... or giving back to the communities of choice, via contests to stir up more local visitors...
    Everyone wins... more population growths... more funding for projects... people get to be with those that bring them bliss...
