    Hoocho another tip.
    You can also cut the crown into quarters and grow 4 plants from the one crown 🍍 🍺🍺

      Hows this system going?

    • @tomerberman3424
      @tomerberman3424 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It will actually make closer to 12 plants, since from each quarter emerge 2-3 new plants (while in itself it is slowly drying and dying). I'm talking from experience

    The pups are actually what's used in large-scale pineapple production because they produce a larger, faster pineapple. The pineapple tops also produce pineapples but sometimes smaller than a pup's and take a bit longer. Lots of good info on the video. Thanks.

    Putting this on my list of systems to make as soon as I get my space (1 more year!) But also, a hint: You don't even need a knife to get the tops off. Just (carefully) grab the leaves & twist. It comes right off without leaving a cut edge on the pineapple. The remaining pineapple won't last as long as it would have with the leaves left on, but it lasts longer than a cut one, so you don't have to eat it immediately. I've also had good results skipping the 'drying-out' stage, but I'm also not in a tropical area, so pineapple diseases aren't common and I don't likely need the extra protection the drying provides. And I've also tried slicing the tops vertically into quarters (making sure there's root zone on all 4) and yes, it DOES make 4 pineapple plants. A bit slower starting - but they take 2 years to fruit anyway, so the difference is negligible.

    Pretty interesting idea. I dont live in a climate where it's feasible for me to try something like that. But I do have some ideas for hydro pineapple. I grow a couple now just in soil in the house (for Winter). It's fun messing with them more than anything and it freaks people out that I grow them where it gets cold, so that's always fun.

    After letting the crowns cure for a week, it seems to be possible to cut them into four parts, quadrupeling the number of plants from one crown. When doing so, take out the innermost part of the crown. This is said to be stimulating root growth.

    Why not make a grow tower with a giant wick in the center so you don't have to use electricity to pump the liquid and nutrients up the tower.
    According to physics
    Abstract: Water can rise through a capillary up to a height of 34 feet (10 m) due to barometric pressure. This phenomenon occurs due to intermolecular cohesion, adhesion and surface tension. This characteristic can be suitably employed by using a bunch of capillaries tied together to lift large quantity of water.
    Essentially you can combine your rain gutter grow system with a tower system to maximize space and yield

Is there any reason, that you are aware of, which would prevent me from growing Pineapples on one of those towers?

    No need to let the tops "dry out". Just remove the flesh and lower leaves. You can then divided the tops into 1/2 or 1/4 plant and allow to root. You'll get much larger production from a single top, rather than the 1-to-1 method used here.
