When I get home, there's always a few I think about that I left behind, questioning my choices.. The closer I am to my vehicle, the more likely I am to take more. Long, tough hikes make be a bit picky! Thanks for watching!!
You're very welcome. Glad to have your view! Such beautiful country out there. I try to show some of the background. But not too much. Little clues for the viewers.
New subscriber, thanks for taking us along on your adventures. My rockhounding is limited to landscape gravel. I do have another place where I hunt since I am about an hour and a half away from geode hunting areas. Rather spooky running across that car!
I do my fair share of landscape rockhounding too! My city dumps river gravel everywhere. I find all kinds of cool rocks in the mix. Thanks for watching and subbing. Much appreciated. I ended up calling it in when I got back to cell service
Thanks for investing the time and effort behind this video. TH-cam must be promoting your channel! It came up in a suggestion without my searching. Come on down to Quartzsite next week!
16:50 you hit the jackpot there with that jasper! That was some serious eye candy. Absolutely stunning. I just found your channel and have been binge watching your videos 🤣 I'm hoping to find one where we get to see these cleaned up at the end. But this was a great video.
Yeah this was a great spot. I'm going to try a new format soon where I show the specimens cut after each significant find. Takes longer and more editing but I think viewers would enjoy seeing the results during the hunt.
Find any cool bones or antlers? I LOVE the nodule and bigger one that looks like coral with live moss growing out of it. I'd buy that if I saw it in the store. I still can't get over the fact everywhere you breathe, there are awesome rocks. I was going to suggest that you throw an old toothbrush in your bag to clean up the rocks a little.
Thank you so much. I appreciate that! I will do a cutting video soon. The weather has been unseasonably warm so I've been taking the opportunity to get out and collect on my days off. Hoping to get a cut and reveal vid posted next week.
Yeah they have several dealerships in Bend. Weird thing was no temporary tag in window and the interior of the car looked like it had been a long time since it had seen the dealership. Maybe stolen and dealer plates put on there to blend in. There are a lot of cars in the area with the kendall tags.
Just found you. I've collected odd rocks for years. Everywhere I go I grab a rock😊 but now what do you do with them? I have pink rocks with silver looks like tinfoil. I have blue rocks eith thick white bands all kinds of jadper and agate I just put the big ones in my garden.. Excited to see you cutting and what you do with it.thx
The Ochocos definitely have some great rocks. I found about a 50 pound agate just walking up a wash. It's extremely fractured and might be highly agatized wood but hard to tell. It does make a great porch ornament. I have been tempted to bust it up now that I have a 10 inch saw but at the same time don't want to ruin it. It's too big for any saw in my area and would probably fall apart from fractures.
Love the ochocos! All the old hills and big ponderosa pines are a vibe. That big agate sounds awesome. Sounds like a perfect porch rock. I have a pile of big ones decorating my porch. Thanks for watching!
How far are you hiking for this type of adventure? I would love to make a go of it at some point but am just a bit older than you. Still tough as rocks though. 🤣🤣🤣
This hike wasn't too far. Total I probably went a couple miles. The steepness is definitely a factor at this locality. Not so much where I'm collecting, but getting there is quite steep.
some really nice finds. Looked almost too easy. That car I would have been looking for other tire tracks and checked the woods for a sign of someone in a bad way. The thing I would have done different is shut off my engine and lock the truck. I wouldn't be happy if someone jumped in it and drove off while I was looking around.
Yeah in retrospect there are several things I would have done differently. My own safety didn't even cross my mind at the time. Glad I didn't get ambushed. I did call it in to law enforcement. Waiting to hear any news on the situation. The rockhounding looks easy but it's actually a tough spot. Steep to get in. Once over the steep parts, all the dead fall and loose rock make it tricky footing. Worth it though! Thanks for watching.
@@itslattice4195 anything you have the hots for out of the Mojave? I’m doing the South Cady’s for a week day after Christmas before it’s closed (probably permanently due to new monument designation)to rockhounding after the New Year. Primarily Lavic & Hector Hills if you want to Google what comes out of there.
It's a tag from Bend too which is very close. Yeah, I notified authorities. After I made sure the car was truly abandoned. No news. It was probably stolen or broken down. The area it was in is very remote with no service. As soon as I was in range, I called it in.
Lots of us are worried about the passenger(s) in the car- we would appreciate if you would call your police or forest service to find out then let us know@@itslattice4195
In retrospect this would have been smart. I could have gotten ambushed. It was just so far out there and I wanted to make sure it was actually abandoned before I called. I did end up calling when I got back into phone service.
I had to stop watching your video- abandoned car, underwear and sock in the bushes, and electronic wire closed in the car door with sunglasses on the ground= my first thought was a rape or murder is happening here. I think you should have abandoned your hunt for agates and cared enough to call for help immediately because somebody is in serious jeopardy! Agates can wait!!
In reading thru all of the comments, I found that there were many of us that were very worried that someone was being harmed. PLEASE call your police and forest service to find out what happened, and let us know!
Authorities were called. No news came of it. Likely stolen or broken down. I did my due diligence. Waited a while to make sure the car was truly abandoned before calling authorities to notify them. My first impression was someone was at the creek cleaning up after an upset tummy. Or maybe having a bit of a spirit quest in the forest. Did not look like a violent crime scene.
Fantastic stuff!!! 69 yr.old lifetime hounder here. That is the type of rockhounding I enjoy, finding areas less rockhounded and just having a wander.
Just out here zigging and zagging!
I played bass in a group called The Milky White Band. We played mostly soul music.
Any one of those discards would have been the find of the Year for me LOL

Yeah if I hear anything in the news, I'll make an update vid. I called it in.
What happened?
I would have had to pull a wagon behind me picking up rocks 🤩
That's a good way to get it done! Thanks for watching.
The stuff you are finding at 17:30 is absolutely gorgeous!! I want some of that! Those colors are amazing
I agree. I think these are going to look phenomenal once they're cut.
Just came across you. Enjoy watching you find some beautiful stones. I’m an Oregonian too. Maybe I’ll see you in the hills. Thanks for sharing.

What beautiful agates. I just went today found agates and Jasper. We live in Nevada the rocks aren’t quite as beautiful as yours. Thank you

I love them all blue is my favorite
I'm a big fan of big blue agates!
I would definitely go back to the last location. Wow,beautiful jasper’s
Interesting and pretty. I'm DelNorte CA. Our agate is very different. Its cool seeing other stuff

Creepy situation at the beginning of the video, just randomly found this channel, looking forward to seeing more rockhound videos
Right on! Do you post videos of your Appalachian adventures?
Yes, mostly rockhound type videos

I really love the Jaspers you found! Such interesting patterns in them.
Yeah can't wait to get those on the saw! I'll make a video showing the results. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated!!
I love that country, and rocks and plants. That red leaved plant keeps grabbing me, Oregon Grape? So small tho..
Yeah I love the Ochocos. Gorgeous country. Not sure what the little red leaved plants are. I'll have to find out!
Seems like its always uphill back to the truck. Thats a great place to find all sorts of pretty rocks.
Isn't that the truth. Somehow it's uphill both ways!
Super agates
What you shared is very nice. 27:53

ever ran across some van deusen???
Haven't found any personally but I have a general idea of where it came from. Would be cool to try to locate some.
Nothing more to say about the vehicle in the road? Ever find anything out more? Dying to know!
I went back 2 weeks later. Here's a video with the update. th-cam.com/video/_HAzjNnd2P8/w-d-xo.html
I would og contacted the police. Was the car still there?
Yeah it was still there when I left. I called Crook County Sheriff's Department as soon as I had service.
Elevation?
Would you ever take anyone out rockhounding? Cuz I love Oregon and would love to go rockhounding there!! Lol :)
The thought has definitely crossed my mind. There's so many spots out here to visit. Thought about starting a guide service in the past.
I’d be game for that come spring. I’ll even come bearing a milk crate of beauties out of the Mojave.
Sounds fun we should plan something!

Please call police immediately when finding strange abandoned cars and belongings scattered.
How?
So, I'm wondering what became of the car and its inhabitants. With all the signs of violence around the car, why didn't you go report it right away.
There were no signs of violence around the car. It was reported after I made sure it was truly abandoned.
Thanks.
@@itslattice4195
Should have called the police and reported the location and description of the car in case they were already looking for it.
I did
Oh look a dinosaur egg
Looks like a homicide scene, scary
I agree. The longer I was there the creepier it got. I called law enforcement as soon as I got back in cell service.
Call the police. This is not normal, at all. Update us on the abandoned car, if possible. Nice finds.☺️
I called as soon as I got to service. Never got an update. Nothing made the news. I'm guessing it broke down and they walked out.

burying a body 🤨

Don’t people suffering from hypothermia think they are hot and start stripping off clothes? Poor guy, hope he’s ok.
That does happen. Paradoxical undressing. I checked the news and nothing was ever reported. I think it was a stolen then abandoned car probably.
Why wait to call the police???

Because I needed to verify that the vehicle was actually abandoned. Also there is zero phone service in the area.
