Just as I was wondering how and of what these mineral blocks are made of I found you sharing your home made organic way of making a block for the birds. The blocks are expensive to buy and one can just buy these ingredients and make our own. Very interesting , tks for sharing.

I have always washed and microwaved cuttlebone, along with washing the seeds with running water then a phase of quick boiling water then a couple of minutes in the oven to dry it out of moister . A lot of people don't believe what I am doing is necessary that's why I am glad I found out about you
. love this man. So how often should I give the morniga powder

It is sanitized properly but you lost all those vitamins and risk to altered the fatty inside the seed into unhealthy fat, if you are willing to meticulously do all of that for your bird I believe planting the seed yourself is beneficial for longer term.learn to grow one and harvest it for your birds!

Your good manual is of help to me. Thank you so much!
I made the mineral block by following your manual, but I think the mineral block is weak for Major Mitchell's. That is easily broken by them. So, I'd like to know how to make the mineral block harder. if I put more Plaster of Paris, will the mineral block be harder? Please advise me about that.

I'm waiting on 2 cockatiels to arrive, and I'm fully aware of not only the high prices for food, toys, etc;, but how many greedy people sell their bullshit products without a thought for the consumer, and more importantly, the birds and other animals. Ohh very interesting items o wasn't aware of ...
edit after i made cal blocks still drying
I was thinking about other items that would be good to use i made some for my rescue macaw I noticed my free flying macaw loved to get a stone, when we get home and i take him out of the car and don't stop to let him pick a stone to grind his beak on i make and sell parrot toys in Ireland ..i had bought toys with mineral blocks on but i think i can do better ones especially for big parrots bigbie will take a min to pick the right stone so I've saved those to put in these most macaw don't get outside so prob never get a stone i feel like it would be a nice surprise for a bird , I'll test it out on my rescue see what he thinks, he is in training to fly free but isn't ready yet..
