I'll leave the gospel here: How do you get to hell? Very simple: claim that you're innocent. How do you get to heaven? Very simple: Admit that you're not Innocent, you're guilty and ask for mercy. How to know if you're guilty or not? Simply: Compare your life to the Ten Commandments God gave you in the Bible. Everyone agrees that if people followed the ten commandments there would be no need for governments or police. Do not lie. Do not steal. Do not commit adultery. Do not insult God by using his name as a cuss word. There are six more but let's just leave it at that. How many lies have you told in your life? Have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you? Jesus said, if you look at a women lustfully you've already committed adultery in your heart with that woman. How many times a day do you do that? Do you use God's name as a cuss word? Would you do that with your own mother's name? If you answer these questions honestly you know that you're guilty. God can justly punish you and send you to hell. Ask him for mercy. His name is Jesus. It's as simple as this, The Ten Commandments are called the moral law. You and I broke God's laws. Jesus paid the fine. The fine is death. Ezekiel 18:20 - "The soul who sins shall die." That's why Jesus had to die on the cross for our sins. This is why God is able to give us Mercy. Option A. You die for your own sins. Option B. Ask for mercy and accept that Jesus died on the cross for you. ❤ **Honest questions are welcome.** )(
Erase the connecting sentence structure from these 4 verses. @@chrissonofpear1384 When we remember that the authorities (Irenaeus, Athanasius, the bishops convened by Constantine) could not even come to an agreement on exactly who and what god was at the time of the council at Nicaea, and even afterward they still did not agree, no wonder our ideas are confused. Since humans created god(s), there were as many concepts as there were opinionated priests and bishops. They can't all be right, and there is a great chance they are all wrong.
Thank you Martyn. So clear & beautifully said. From a regular listener in NZ formally UK. May God Bless & Keep you 🙏 from a G Gran who Prays & Trusts in the Lord God.
It takes incredible "intelligence" and years of "education" to look at the universe & dismiss it as random chance. In no other aspect of human existence would we look at anything even 1/2 so complex & consider "chance" a reasonable explanation. You don't find a cake in the kitchen & think it's the result of chance; you recognize that somebody baked it; so how can even the simplest one cell organisms have been chance? They can't - clearly a random cake is far, far more probable than the cell, but only the later is a random event? It's beyond illogical; it's a willful refusal to admit the obvious.
That's the thing: it's not a lack of evidence that makes the Atheist deny God, it's their lack of humility and willingness to submit to the creator. Sin.
It is a spiritual matter, not a matter of logic. The Word of God is plain on this topic, we are without excuse but also without any chance to see... We are dependent on God the Father to open our eyes to His Son, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world and us, I even tried to read the Word of God but failed to take it in until my eyes were open, from outside, by God.

I'm always taken aback and saddened at how proud and intellectually dishonest people are about the creation of our world and the universe. Science shows you can't create something from nothing nor can you create organic matter from inorganic matter. Yet, these hypotheses stand as the most plausible belief of non-believers that their is no God. I can't help to be sadden for them knowing that one day, they will all stand before God and have to give an account for every word, action, and thought they ever had or done during their life. And how after judgment they will beg weep and plead for another chance, and it will be too late for them. So, for the intellectually honest, I challenge you to ask yourself, "WHAT IF?". What if God is real, and am I really willing to pay the price of eternal hell for denying him? Believers, pray for the lost. God bless.
There is no intellectual honesty in "what if." That is simply wishful thinking. What if I beat this drum 3 times and that skyscraper collapses? Am I god? You can plug any nonsense into a "what if" question and get whatever answer you want.
The Ignorance of believers. Ask the truth telling holy spirit to reveal the meaning of a piece of scripture. A verse that's not popular or discussed regularly. Now ask 2 others in your church to do the same. Write down word for word what the holy spirit reveals to you since it cannot lie it cannot differ in its answer. Compare notes. If you find a comma out of place. Well. You and your falsehood can go fly a kite. You will have to defer and make up excuse to why you won't get the same interpretation. Now I ask you how do you have knowledge of the your excuse to be the truthful reason. Again you would have to make up some excuse. Now I suggest to you to ask 2 other people in your circle of religion to also answer the question of why the holy spirit (that doesn't lie) wouldn't reveal the exact same interpretation of the exact same scripture. now you will see that you all are just making it up as you go along. the fact that you would read this and know this would make for a good example to test if there is some truth to your religion and by choosing not to do it. that's should be enough evedince for you that you are not interested in truth. you are just interested in believing in your dogma. Martin, I thank you for being a true servant of our lord. Bear in mind this is a layman’s perspective. Now onto the reality of God, it is so simplistic that a huge majority of humans over think it and feel that there must be a more complex answer. Plus they can’t or won’t accept such logic. Hebrews 11:3 is the better Scripture for what is being talked about around minute twelve of the video. When we look at Genesis 1:1, the word for created has more to do with an ordering of a chaotic heavens and earth, that God would later turn into a "creation" by ordering it as described in the rest of Genesis 1:1. See John H. Walton's "Lost World of" books. But yes, the minute 12 answer to the questions brought up in the video are in the Bible: see Hebrews 11:3. What was seen in Genesis, since prior to Genesis 1:1, which God then ordered into a "created heavens and earth", originally had been brought into being by the unseen God.

@@rubiks6 How obediently you recite the "Look at the trees" argument. It is true, science does not know the ultimate reason for the Big Bang expansion event. But from a billionth of a billionth of a billionth of a second AFTER the Big Bang, the universal laws of physics we use to describe nature can describe the universe. Billions of christians have no issue with Big Bang and Evolution and have no need to believe that the Bible MUST be literally true to believe in Jesus. It is US Creationists that made it a mandatory precondition, or nothing made sense, and that without believing that all would turn instantly into monsters raping and killing at random Yes, there are some basic rules (physical laws) that are the basis of this universe's existence. The universe is vast, billions of light years across, science can not tell, how big exactly, science is not sure. Would it be for Bible literalists, we would not know more about the universe than it is lights in the sky. Most of this vast universe is uninhabitable. Even most places on the earth are (or at least were) uninhabitable for humans. Christians believe that the reason for creation is solely to create a place for humans to survive, and is only interested in them and nothing else of his creation. After all, as he was discontent with his people, he had no issue to kill all landlife on earth he had created to teach the remaining 8 a lesson. And strangely, the descendants of these 8 that spread around the barren earth without life resumed all the cultures that God had destroyed BECAUSE of their culture. We know nothing about God having ANY other interests about his creation than us humans. So even from a christian standpoint this whole universe is a giant waste of space and time - that the people 2000 years ago, when the Bible was written, did not know about. In the meantime we have found all kinds of organic molecules in space - that means they are forming naturally. You can say God created the elements to form us out of them - or you can say that life is created from the most frequent elements that existed in the universe, hydrogen, oxygen, carbon and nitrogen. You say life looks designed - because you are told to. You are told not to look what is actually said. That "evolution" is NOT a random process. It is a natural process, a simple consequence of the properties of the universe. Not more is needed (when you want, you can assign the creation of these rules to some entity - but more than the rules is not required). Nothing in the universe is exactly the same, Everything varies, and everything is constantly changing. When an atom is instable (like radioactive elements), then they are decaying. When the planets in a solar system do not have a stable orbit, they either fall into the sun or are flung out into space. Life is constructed to adapt to its outer environment. A certain variation (of the existing state) is a MUST for life to survive, only so it can "conquer" new environments, or can "react" on changing environments. If it couldn't life would have died out long ago. No creationist would ever tell you about that evolution is a regulated cycle, a closed loop, where the "parameters" influence each other in a way that they stay (mostly) in certain confines. And regarding the perfect design - The nerve that controls our larynx goes down from our brain, down our neck, into our check, around the heart's aorta and back up to the throat. That is the case for ALL mammals, for all land animals. Including the giraffe, where that is a giant detour over several meters. Really no genius design. And it makes absolutely no sense that this weird design is taken over for the lifeform that is made in God's image - in the image of a spaceless, timeless, matterless entity. But when you look at the (true or not) lineage of lifeforms, to simpler and simpler lifeforms, down to fish, then you find that this path becomes straighter and straighter - with fish the nerve connection is straight and the aorta is looped around it. So the alternative to perfect divine design is that it all developed step by step - as long as the disadvantages of the "detour" was not too negative in its effects, it was passed on, adapted. There are countless such constructions that make way more sense when you see it as part of this lineage. Or God was the one that copied and copied his original design.. (including as his image...)
People who seek God find God. God is not having people who have to be convinced that God's way, obedience to His laws of love, His 10 commandments, is the best way, back to eternal life with Him in heaven. God only wants those who seek Him and who want to live law abiding lives with Him. You do not get to know God by denying His existence, you only get to know God by seeking Him and wanting to be with Him. People who continue to want the knowledge of good and evil will not be allowed in heaven, there is no room for evil in heaven.
Genuine comment @jt2097. Please remember though that Jesus said that he is the only way - John 14.6. Yes, we aim to be obedient because we love our Father, but our own obiedience does not/cannot save us. Only our acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Saviour can. God bless you.
@@lukeschmidt696 When you are seeking God the first place you must look is at Jesus Christ. "When you have seen me you have seen the Father." Jesus Christ is the only way. @@WhiteScorpio2 I take that as Martyn's personal response to natural observances. The passage from Genesis 1:1 is a bold statement as he put's it, an assertion. That stands in contrast to those that can observe and not be compelled to further investigate. I understand that myself as there was a time I had no care, no thoughts, about the creator. I ask about the end for you because beyond the natural realm you don't merely cease "to be". Life beyond death has a continuation whether you perceive it or not. So the arguments made are: 1) A book says a thing therefor god... 2) I don't know how stuff started moving, therefor god... Man, do i have to scramble to deny these powerful arguments.....
Look around the world and see order, and see that it speaks of a creator. There are so many simple examples that clearly speak of a designer, and eye being one of them, the building blocks of life themselves are unable to form themselves, a scientist can't make them in prebiotic conditions. Certainly Science can't prove no God, therefore be open to one that would reveal Himself. You would believe a book from a scientist? Can they speak truth? Then why not another book. God bless.
A lot of words, which could be shortened to a very few. "I don't know how this happened, therefore god did it." That is the sum total of the argument. It is a slight variation of the "argument from incredulity".
Yes! And God continues to hold it all together in His hand since, to this day.. The Lord Jesus Christ is the same HE in power who does this - so the holy bible of God tells us.
@@BigBrotherwillwatchyou I do observe, and so far I see no signs of design. @@ulrichkuhlmann5459 That's not an argument, that is a statement, but anyway, you believe Jesus resurrected because the Bible says so. There are more similarities between Yahweh/Jesus and Vishnu/Krishna, btw... and the accounts of the latter are much older than the former.
But Jesus resurrected for a sublime and extremely important purpose. There are ancient texts that agree with the Bible that there were very many witnesses to His ascension back into the heavens. I have read the Mahabarata, and it cannot be compared to the Bible and certainly does not answer the questions we all need answered, nor does it give us a cogent reason for the evil in this world. There is more ancient evidence for the dating of the Bible than for the Mahabarata, and the Mahabarata gives no prophecies that project thousands of years into the future like the Bible. Many have already been fulfilled throughout our history, and the remaining will also be fulfilled. However, it won't be pretty for you, or anyone else that fights the God of creation when the final prophecies come to pass. @@jacqualineweber6335 So did Krishna. And there are ancient texts that agree with the Mahabharata too. And Hinduism has its own prophesies too. If you'd actually read the Mahabharata and the books of the Vedas, you'll see striking similarities with the Bible, and given that they are older than the Bible by centuries, it begs the question, did the people who wrote the books of the Bible copied the Hindu sacred books?. And actually, when you start learning about other religions and deities, much older than Judaism, you'd see that the story of Jesus is an amalgamation of other stories: crucifixion, sacrifice for humankind, walking on water, virgin birth, making food appear, resurrection, etc...
@@raymoss706 I found the Mahabharata to be chaotic and a tad ludicrous. It seemed to me to simply be an effort to ascribe to the gods all of the attributes of human struggle. It frustrated and confused me. The Bible, on the other hand, gave me clarity, wisdom, and the necessary(for me) distinction between God and man. It makes sense to me that our creator must needs be somewhat mysterious and way above the problems of mankind. I cannot listen to any so called god who is not superior to humanity in every way. How could those types of gods guide me or help me to grow?
I think that if you look at things without your religious blinders on, you will see that they said, "Water, a necessary ingredient for life, so life is theoretically a past or present possibility."
1:30 - Of course the Bible claims that God exists, in the same way that Spider-Man comics claim Spider-Man exists. And within the narrative of any Marvel comic it is plain, and clear, and obvious, that Spider-Man does indeed exist. The issue is whether there's reason to believe Spider-Man exists outside of what the comics tell us. 4:20 - Thales was an ancient Greek philosopher. The Greeks believed in multiple gods, which begs the question, even if we suppose that some type of gods are required for the universe to exist, how do we know *which* gods? Which religion? In the time of Thales it would have been Zeus, Apollo, Hera, Athena, Ares, etc. For the Romans it was Mars, Minerva, Venus, Juno, etc. The Scandinavians would claim Odin, Thor, Freyr, Loki, etc. The Egyptians, the Aztecs, and so on, and so on, and so on -- each culture with their own gods. But which of them is real, and which merely myth? And why is one god real, and the others just fictional? Who decides? Thales didn't have the advantage of knowing about modern Quantum Mechanics, so his view of the universe was (quite understandably) based on the cause-and-effect Newtonian model. But below the surface, at the quantum level, time works in ways very alien to how we (at the Newtonian level) experience it, and things do indeed pop in and out of existence uncaused. Order and unity *do* come from chaos. The order and unity of a cup of coffee -- the fact that it predictably behaves like a hot brown liquid with a given taste -- hides the reality of the vast amounts of chaotic particles that make up its substance; the so-called Brownian motion. Single chaotic events are unpredictable, but large amounts of chaos creates patterns that have statistically predictability. There are entire industries, such as gambling, insurance, pensions, etc., that make their profit by aggregating large amounts of the chaos. An insurer cannot predict the future by knowing specifically who will have their car stolen in any given year, but by insuring large numbers of people they can build up models that allow them to predict the percentage of car thefts overall. So they can still make a profit, even though their business is based on the chaos and uncertainty of life. 10:50 - In the same way that "the big bang" wasn't actually a bang of any sort, the "god particle" isn't really anything to do with the divine. It's just a jokey name, not to be taken too literally. 11:15 - The problem really is that using god or gods as an answer doesn't really answer the question either. Pointing at things and saying "God made it" isn't really an answer, because it invites the obvious question: so who made God then? And religions have never really been able to come up with a satisfactory answer to the "who made the gods" question... Some may respond "god is necessary, so we don't ask where he came from" -- but then why do we need gods if that is the answer? Why not say "the universe is necessary, so we don't ask where it came from"..? If your answer is that there MUST be a necessary 'first', then why not just make the universe the necessary 'first', and dispense with gods. (Occam's razor.) Some try to respond with "god is timeless, so questions about his origin are irrelevant" -- but if God is outside of time then he cannot act in ways that require time. He cannot create a universe, because the action of creation requires time -- a before, and an after. So if God is indeed timeless, then he cannot affect change in any way, because change can only happen across time. If God is timeless, then the universe has to also be timeless, because a timeless God is incapable of action and so is incapable of creating. And of course the fallback answer is "the nature of God is too mysterious for us to understand", which is the ultimate cop out. You might as well wave your hands in mysterious ways and claim it was done by magic and pixie dust. Thanks for posting the video.

Atheist here. Deep, deep down, Martyn knows that he is wrong about atheists but it too prideful to admit to it. Thus he is without excuse. ^^ If believers think the above is silly, then imagine how we atheists feel when Romans 1:20 is used against us. Romans 1:20 is just as silly.
@@intentionally-blank As far as I can tell the surrounding verses assert that atheists like myself know that God exists because we know that what we see around us, shows that God exists. But because we are both wicked and fools, we deny God's existence. Given that we know God exists, we are without excuse when we deny it. And it's always been thus. I've had those verses used against me on many occasions. I've seen them used against other people on many occasions. ^^ So what did I get wrong?
@@intentionally-blank I don't think that any Gods or gods exist. I accept that I could be wrong about this, but don't think that I am. From my previous post - so what did I get wrong?
@@rolandwatts3218 OK thanks Roland. I think what might be missed is: what does a holy God do with all of this? Scripture states that believing isn't all that is required, but it might be a start. *You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble!* James 2:19 Further in Romans it is written: *For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.* Romans 6:23 Have you read about this? People trying to share with you might use single/simple verses rather than all of what scripture teaches. Also we don't always come off as caring about what happens to you after you depart this plane. This isn't a great forum. If you have further interest I might recommend a short video. Shalom!
_"It is a spiritual matter, not a matter of logic"_ Yes - not a matter of logic, not a matter of reason, _certainly_ not a matter of evidence. It's entirely just a matter of wishful-thinking, huh?
@@Bill_Garthright Remember, God is better than me or other people who poke fun at you. We at times forget that we were no hopers and lost in the world ourselves... My advice to you is: do not look at us, Christians, look at the author and finisher of our faith - Jesus Christ. You will always find faults in all of us. But no fault in Jesus, my friend.
@@nicoladibara1936 _"You have described the ATHEIST position PERFECTLY."_ Thank you. :) But there _is_ no "atheist position." There's just the lack of belief in a god or gods. It's a _very_ narrow label. Still, if you'd like to discuss this stuff, I'm always interested in having a conversation with intelligent people who disagree with me about religion. The original commenter said it was a "spiritual matter." Do you agree with that? Honestly, I don't know what that even means. How do you tell it apart from wishful-thinking? I ask for evidence, because evidence is how we distinguish reality from delusion and wishful-thinking. So, how about one piece of good evidence - just *one,* but specific enough and in enough detail that I can judge it for myself - that your god is real, rather than just imaginary? Thanks.
@@Bill_Garthright What happened to your long response I received in an email notification? Did you delete it? Let me just say - Jesus is the God of the Bible. What fault do you find with Him?
Yep, we don't need to prove God's existence to anyone really. God is not a phenomenon but three consubstantial, conscious and intelligent _persons._ "All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him." (Lk. 10:22, Mt. 11:27) There is none other like God (first said in Exodus and again to the prophet Isaiah), who is without beginning or end.
Excuse me young man but in a couple of version of the bible I have it clearly states - In the Beginning - there was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. If your book starts several verses after mine - we have a problem - which one will you be quoting from? It's quite obvious to me that which ever one you chose - it was written by some guy back in the Bronze Age - trying to appreciate his ideas is rather like explaining PlayStations and fishfingers to Queen Victoria. All religions take the Creation for granted because they couldn't imagine anything else and it would have been extremely dangerous to gainsay the majority. Thermonuclear fusion is the first thing I think of when looking at stars - if the god of the bible knew everything and was everywhere at the same time - whispering in the earhole of the scribes - I'd expect our sun to be declared a star - not a great lamp. No one of biblical age thought the stars move - only the five visible planets, the sun and moon moved according to them ( the origin of seven being a lucky number) Calling the Higgs - the god particle just goes to show how little you appreciate anything about particle physics! I'm going to leave it there because you're annoying me now.
The scripture you quoted is the first verse of the book of John, not Genesis. It is not the same verse, but adds to it by referenceing Jesus who is the focus of John's book. Perhaps listen again, Ile's did not name it the god particle. The very scientists working on the studty did. Also, I would imagine Ile's has a reasonable laymen's understanding of particle physics, thermal dynamics etc. But to focus on the such theories is to miss the forest for the trees.
Lukeschmidt696 - begging to differ - l have the giant Victorian Family bible next to me - l've spent quite a few days refurbishing it despite being an atheist - l'd send you a photo if l could but you know how Y.T. reacts to that kind of thing. Btw - as a Horticulturalist and landscaper with 60 years experience - l not only distinguish trees from the woods but can name them in Latin.
There won't be any proof for those determined to dismiss them. 'He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.' John 1
So an assertion written by ignorant people thousands of years ago is for you the “proof” that a very specific god exists… I call that continuation of such ignorance.
Nothing obvious about God. No evidence of his existence anywhere. He is a man made deity. Invented by man to make excuses for man’s behaviour. Why doesn’t he,show himself to us? It might convince us that he really exists. He doesn’t because he can’t! Because there is no God. Just us with all our flaws looking for something to blame when things go wrong.

I'll leave the gospel here:
How do you get to hell?
Ezekiel 18:20 -
"The soul who sins shall die."
That's why Jesus had to die on the cross for our sins. This is why God is able to give us Mercy.
Option A.
You die for your own sins.
Option B.
Ask for mercy and accept that Jesus died on the cross for you.

Sin.

It is true, science does not know the ultimate reason for the Big Bang expansion event. But from a billionth of a billionth of a billionth of a second
AFTER the Big Bang, the universal laws of physics we use to describe nature can describe the universe.
Billions of christians have no issue with Big Bang and Evolution and have no need to believe that the Bible MUST be literally true to believe in Jesus.
It is US Creationists that made it a mandatory precondition, or nothing made sense, and that without believing that all would turn instantly into monsters raping and killing at random
Yes, there are some basic rules (physical laws) that are the basis of this universe's existence.
And strangely, the descendants of these 8 that spread around the barren earth without life resumed all the cultures that God had destroyed
BECAUSE of their culture.
Amen amen.

Yes!
And God continues to hold it all together in His hand since, to this day.. The Lord Jesus Christ is the same HE in power who does this - so the holy bible of God tells us.

Why are you in the U.S.?
May I offer the point of view that God does not exist (emerge from something else), but God IS.
Have you read the Bhagavad Gita? It asserts Brahma created the universe, in much greater detail than Genesis. Any "obvious proof" of Yahweh you can come up with, you can use to prove the existence of Brahma, Kukulcan, Viracocha, and so forth and so on. You have to do much, much better than just going back to the Bible, kalam/prime mover and watchmaker as proof of anything, because I can go to the Vedas, the Popol Vuh, etc to proof the existence of the other universe creators; and they all have their prophets, miracles, prophesies, and whatnot. No scramble needed.
Any "obvious proof" of Yahweh you can come up with, you can use to prove the existence of Brahma, Kukulcan, Viracoch..? Not so? The resurrection of the body of Christ!
@@ulrichkuhlmann5459 That's not an argument, that is a statement, but anyway, you believe Jesus resurrected because the Bible says so. Just one example, the Mahabarata, a holy Hindu book, says Krishna resurrected. Same argument, "my holy book says so".
May God through His eternal grace in Jesus Christ bring you to faith in Christ before those days....@@raymoss706
Amen.
Remember when they detected a drop of water on a planet....they called it life!!😂😂😂😂
To whom are you referring when you mention "they"?
(Occam's razor.)
Some try to respond with "god is timeless, so questions about his origin are irrelevant" -- but if God is outside of time then he cannot act in ways that require time.
God spoke to us through the Bible. He tells us all about our human nature, and nothing, from anywhere does a better job of it.

No one can understand the scriptures unless God opens their mind. Luke 24:44,45 Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.” Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

Yep, we don't need to prove God's existence to anyone really. God is not a phenomenon but three consubstantial, conscious and intelligent _persons._
"All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him." (Lk. 10:22, Mt. 11:27)

No one of biblical age thought the stars move - only the five visible planets, the sun and moon moved according to them ( the origin of seven being a lucky number)
Calling the Higgs - the god particle just goes to show how little you appreciate anything about particle physics!
