  • In this video we continue with our upgrades to ensure we can get the most life and power out of our RAM Cummins 2500 tow vehicle. In this video we install the bypass filter kit and show some tips and tricks (and how tough it can be).
This kit is designed to remove the contaminates from the oil that the standard oil filter can not. These particles are small enough to pass the standard filter yet big enough to create some abrasive lubricant (oxymoron, I know). Standard filters are good for "stuff" larger than 20 microns, the AMSoil filter is good for 2 microns. This is truly where smaller is better!
My goal for this upgrade is to keep the oil as clean as possible, enabling my engine to run better, longer and get better economy.

That trick with the impact to get the sleeve on is brilliant.

4:00 I own a Chevy Cruze echo tech 6 speed manual transmission. My thermostat intake coolant pipe was leaking coolant due to the O-ring which failed. I replaced the line by watching a mechanic on TH-cam.

Oh yeah, I learned a lot from good mechanics on TH-cam. I make my disclaimers because by trade I am not a mechanic. But I play one on TH-cam.

Hey great video I bought the same kit from Don did you use 15 qts of oil his video says to do so I was just wondering

      Well, let me think.
I used 3 gallons (12 quarts) and then about 1/2 of another gallon. What I did was I filled the filter first before installing it. The only "oil free" area before first start up would have been the lines.
So, I then ran the engine, checked for leaks and ensured oil pressue was good. Stopped the engine and checked oil level. I may have added a bit more, so it is close to 15 quarts.
Thanks for watching. Did you have any issues with your installation? Leaks, hose routing, etc?

Took me a minute to think of what you were referring to. Full disclosure, I think I saw that from Don Smiths video. Just passing that info along. But thank you for the compliment and thank you for watching. I hope it was helpful.
