  • A fuel filter change video for the RAM 2500 6.7 Cummins. Information is added on the double filtration of the front filter located by the engine block, on micron size comparisons, just a little FYI kind of thing. These filters also went two years as it was under the 15,000 mile recommended change interval, but also twice as long as the one year recommended time limit.
    I only buy good fuel, at good stations, stations that move thousands of gallons per week.
    YMMV
    Thanks for watching and please subscribe!!

    Really quite a good video edited well, showing all the steps, I liked the info on the filters micro rate that was awesome. I remember when Tier 3 engines came out OMG the issues with injector nozzles and filters on Isuzu and Hino engines 10 microns was a big improvement but 3 micron WOW.

    Thank you! Very detailed made my first time easy! Appreciated the 3/8 I.D. tube idea! A little under a quart of diesel will be lost for the rear filter!

    Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed your video. If you put the extension up against the fire wall you can come down almost straight on to the top of the file filter lid.

    Good video. After changing the filters when you power cycle, wait about a minute between each power cycle. Mine starts up after the third power cycle right away.

    IF you look at the rear filter fitting mounted on the truck when you take the filter off, there's a little ball valve up in there and inside the filter there is a little plastic nipple. That nipple pushes in that ball valve allowing the fuel into the filter. Because of this you don't have to worry about fuel running out when you change the filter,

    Thanks for sharing. Will #4 work on the front as well or just the rear?

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Scott and thanks for watching!
      Dow 4 will work on both flat rubber type gaskets and o-rings. Manufacturers recommend using motor oil and that is certainly a good practice. Using motor oil or Dow 4 will not matter as long as the filter is not over tightened.

    With two fuel filters, you should be able to run it easily for 24,000 miles, great video though

      That strap wrench is a Craftsman bought at a Sears store in 2002. I used it on my 2002 Dodge Cummins.
      It came in a 3 size set.
      Have a good one!

    Very helpful video but I thought you might like to hear by dumb blunder. I didn’t triple check the o-ring on the front filter housing had set properly and I suspect you know what followed. I mean I did a hand check but had nitrile gloves on so I’m guessing I just didn’t register it… I feel like a big bumb a-hole and have a mess to clean from the driveway but still better than paying the dealership $$$. Also I reset the o-ring and thankfully everything was fine, though I ordered a new one to replace it before driving just to be sure… I’m dumb and thanks

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very easy to do what you did. That particular o-ring has a habit of wanting to ride low and beneath where it needs to be.
      You won't make that mistake again!
      Thanks for watching!

    You don't need to drain the filter completely to take it off! Front or back. Thats just a waste of time. The truck will also tell you when it's time to change the filter. If you don't trust that then watch your fuel milage, when it starts to drop a few miles per gallon then change them. I usually change mine every oil change. I use full synthetic, so I change it at app. 15000 miles. I also prime the new filters before I install them. Doing this prevents any problems getting the air out of the system when trying to start the engine after the changes.
