@@Siegeclan34 Agreed. I've watched all the classics (Friday the 13th's cinematography alone still creeps me out), but this was brilliantly done by Wes Craven. Fun fact, when Drew Barrymore's parents get home, her dad tells her mom "Go down the street to the Mckenzie's!", this is a nod to 'Halloween' when Jamie Lee Curtis tells the kids "I want you to go down the street to the Mckenzie's house!". The favor is returned again in 'Halloween H20', Jamie Lee Curtis tells her son "Drive down the street to the Becker's!", Becker was Drew Barrymore's characters last name in 'Scream' lol.
This movie came out my Senior year of High School (1996) and I remember seeing it in the theatre. Everyone was terrified and screaming the whole time 😂
One of my absolute favorites. Such a classic. Every time I watch it I'm right back in the 90s. Fun fact: They had to film the garage door kill multiple times because Rose could easily fit through the door.
Three things that I love about this franchise: 1. Ghostface is an actual human person who's killing people. It's not like Freddy Krueger, Jason, or Michael Myers. Scream is something that can actually happen in real life, and that's what makes it relatable and frightening. That's actually how Kevin created "Scream" by basing the plot loosely on the 1990 case of the Gainesville Ripper. Making Ghostface somewhat clumsy also made it a realistic human. (Also, the robe is very easy to trip over.) I love the mystery of who done it. 2. The self-awareness and rules about horror movies and how Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson plays on it. 3. Typically, in horror movies, it's always the killer that continues on the franchise with a whole new cast to kill off. But in Scream, it's the opposite it's the "final girl" who carries on the franchise who's fighting against different killers wh are portrayedg as Ghostface. - it's interesting with Ghostface how he seems intimidating and unkillable when hiding behind the mask. But once it comes off for the revealing, it's like he or she becomes vulnerable and then ends up getting killed. It's kind of like how people hide behind computer and phone screens they come off as aggressive and intimidating, always picking a fight. But then, when it comes to dealing one on one in person exposed they become complete opposite and are actually weak.
I love how in the garage door scene, the doggy door was actually way too big and she struggled to make it look like she couldn't fit through it, so in the end they nailed her shirt to the floor so she couldn't move too far forwards or back while thrashing around.
I think from what I heard is that Rose McGowan herself actually said that she could actually fit in thriugh that door but they had to make it smaller so that her character wouldn't be able to fit in
@@josephmendoza9523 Yeah I read it in an interview with her where she said they nailed her clothes to the floor, but they probably made the door smaller too. She also said she has since used doggy doors several times to get into houses when she had forgotten her keys, because Scream taught her that she can always fit 😂
@@bobblebardsley how exactly does one lock their self out of the house when they don't have their keys? If someone else is in the house, you aren't locked out...
@@dabreal82 idk in the UK we have Yale locks, it's like a hotel room door closing. I have no idea what kind of locks Rose Macgowan has had in her life. I may have worded that wrong too, may have been she just arrived home to a locked house and nobody home.
@@dabreal82 I mean if you have your keys then I don't see how you could be locked out, except if there was a deadlock on the inside of the door. But if you're outside and don't have keys, it's not that hard to end up locked out.
Even more clever about the scene with randy on the couch saying “jamie, turn around”, his real name is jamie kennedy. So jamie was telling jamie to turn around while jamie himself should have turned around. Lol.
Fun fact the janitor was an obvious throw back to Freddy Kruger now the other fun fact the janitor was Wes craven himself . Enjoy spooky season . Can't wait to see what's next.
27:31 Yeah, a motive for his mum to leave his dad. But not a reason to leave her son behind. I mean seriously, what stopped her from bringing him with her when she left? What stopped her from ever visiting? What stopped her? Besides, it may be a motive for killing Sidney's mum. But the rest of the stuff? Killing people solely because they're Sidney's classmates, as in people who had literally nothing to do with his dad having an affair? He doesn't have a motive, he just thinks he does because he's a self-centred narcissist.
What a start! This is one of my favorite horrors and still, I was invested as if I didn't know what was coming! I love your reactions. “Poor Billy”, that never ages well 🤣 I suspected him and his devilish look from the get go, yet ALSO fell for that fake stabbing. What a trickster!
I actually had a mask like that when I was a kid because of this movie. The vision in it is very limited so it is understandable that the person wearing it would be tripping on stuff and falling over.
28:05 Billy planned on killing Stu and making him look like Neil Prescott's accomplice while Billy pretended to be the sole survivor of his own murders.
This is one of the few films I've seen where i got the twist pretty early on, that there were two killers. In the video store when Randy says the killer is Billy and he turns around and there he is, Stu is behind randy and is just staring at Billy, like the two are more than friends, like they are in on something. Then after Billy kills Stus girlfriend, he shows up at the door and gives Stu this little raised eyebrowed smile, like hes telling him 'job done'. Stu told Tatum to get him a beer, and for some reason has all the beer down in the garage instead of where the party is. As great as the Scream films are, and even though they cleverly set up the premise that everyones a suspect, its still always pretty obvious who the killers are.
STU killed Tatum, not Billy, fucking dumbass. Billy wouldn't have been able to slip into the party, Stu would have. That look was telling Stu to get lost, so Billy could have sex with her, fucking dumbass.
@@MrParkerman6 Ok, what THE FUCK are you calling me names for?? calm the fuck down! and it was Billy, you only have to look it up. Jesus fucking christ..
@@MrParkerman6 and he had the remote to the garage door, THATS how he got in initially, then hid and waited for her to go in, then followed her. And i cant believe youre questioning the logistics of a film where Tatum went missing the whole night and nobody, including Sidney, even noticed.
@@MrParkerman6 AND every time it cut to the party, Stu was in the thick of it, sitting with everyone joking and laughing at Randy. He was at the party the whole night
Ok so, the janitor in the Freddy outfit was Wes Craven, director of Scream and the first Nightmare on Elm St which makes Drew Barrymore's comment about the first movie being great but rest sucked even funnier. This jump-started Henry Winkler's career. He'd retired to take care of his family then came back with this show. The reporter who asks 'how does it feel to almost be butchered' is Linda Blair, the kid from The Exorcist
Scream...the movie that was supposed to put an end to the slasher genre but became an hommage and brought a comeback to the genre in the 90's ! Until the genre died again in the 2000 with the arrival of the found footage genre...Still a pretty good movie and the sequel are not bad either !!
40:00 Wes Craven's New Nightmare predates this by two years. It's the beta test version of 'Scream'. Once you finish the 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' main line sequels, watch that!
No it isn't, fucking dumbass. New Nightmare was written by Wes. Scream was written by Kevin Williamson, fucking dumbass. Written by two completely different people. Just cuz Wes DIRECTED Scream doesn't mean he had anything to do with the writing, fucking moron!
What I love is that the guy telling Jamie Lee Curtis "he's behind you Jamie " while the killer is actually behind HIM - that actors name is Jamie Kennedy, he's literally talking to himself
Fun little trivia. During the scene where Sydney jabs the umbrella into Billy chest Neve Campbell missed the padded part under Skeets shirt and actually hit his chest. So his scream of pain is real
Rose McGowan really wasn’t too big to fit through that doggy door. She actually fit through the thing too easily during filming so they had to go out of their way to make it look like she got stuck.
When Randy (Jamie Kennedy) was watching Halloween by himself and telling Jamie Lee Curtis to turn around that he's behind you. Wes wanted to play on that with their real names. It was him telling himself that he Jamie needed to turn around, lol. The way Wes Craven creates those little things is amazing and brilliant! - The whole last 20-30 mins everything that was happening around the house it was perfectly mirroring with what was happening in Halloween, lol. The bedroom scene with Billy/Sidney, Randy couch scene when Sidney yells out while outside happened at the same time as Laurie on Halloween was screaming so Randy didn't hear it but Ghostface did which ended up saving Randys life, Dewey searching through the house with the movie playing in the background, and then the closet scene that Sidney was hiding in waiting to attack Billy with the umbrella at the same time as Laurie was also hiding in a closet from Michael Myers 😂.
Wes DIDN'T create that, dumbass. First off, Kevin Williamson, not Wes Wrote Scream. Second, Kevin wrote that scene before Jamie Kennedy was even cast so it was pure coincidence!
After the grindhouse and snuff like films of the 1970's (Texas Chainsaw, Last House on the left and others) and then the slasher 80's (Halloween Friday 13th etc so many clones) This RESET the slasher horror bar of the 1990's with a nod to horror tropes and written with the "final girl" played by beautiful and amazing Neve Campbell really gave horror a HUGE boost once again. Was fun to see you all react
First time watching!!? How?! Let's go!! Hope you do all of them! Wow I'm really shocked you didn't know any spoilers. This movie's been out for a long time so I thought you might know the twist even without seeing it. One of my favorite things in the franchise is the whodunnit aspect. You really do suspect everyone and it's fun trying to figure out the killer(s).
Fun/sadistic bit of trivia at 29:05: when Sidney hits Billy with the umbrella, the stunt person accidentally hit Skeet Ulrich for real in an area where he'd had open heart surgery in his youth. Wes Craven (R.I.P.) kept the shot in the film because the pain in Ulrich's face was real in that instance.
One of my favorite slasher movie and favorite franchises. I like the killer in this because it's not like an unstoppable, strong, and immortal killer we see, but it's more than one killer. I'm so glad you watched this movie and i hope you'll continue the franchise. Also R.I.P to Wes Craven. Hope you guys will have a lovely day!!
The scene in which the principal talks to the janitor is indeed a cool callback. The janitor is played by Wes Craven, the director of both "Scream" and "Nightmare on Elm Street". Also fun fact: The mask is based of the painting "Der Schrei" (the scream) by Edward Munch.
So many interesting facts about this movie. The names of some of the characters are directly referencing characters of classic Horror films before it. Loomis = Doctor Loomis Also one of the character’s names in the original Halloween had used the last name Loomis, and a similar tradition was carried on in Scream. There are Wes Craven references, John Carpenter, and a little from Friday The 13th. The Janitor Fred/Freddy scene is actually Wes Craven. The scene with Billy climbing in Sidney’s window and the fact that they deliberately cast him to look like a young Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street. The Sheriff is the same actor from the original Nightmare on Elm Street. The “People deserve to know, how does it feel?” reporter is Linda Blair the young actress that was Reagan in The Exorcist. Though some of it may seem a bit dated, it’s all brilliantly done. When Sidney jumps out and stabs Billy with the Umbrella, she made direct contact with a wound he had from surgery, so his scream is genuine pain. Drew Barrymore was famous as a model and an actress. (Even a Playboy Model) Already a veteran of starring roles, she was initially offered the part of Sidney Prescott, but it was her idea to instead be killed in the first scene opening which she knew no one would expect, thereby catching them completely off guard. (The death of America’s sweetheart) They do a great job making everyone look guilty. Focusing on close-up shots of shoes, and displaying suggestive behaviors. Like Randy says, Everybody’s a suspect. When Billy throws the phone and hits Stu, his response: “Ow! You hit me with the phone, dick!” was improv but was kept in because of its obvious comedic relief. Things you don’t notice about the film until the second time around you watch it: When Sidney says “If Tatum sees you, she’ll draw blood; If you look at Billy, you can can see him react accordingly through his expressions, considering he is most likely the one that killed her. Obviously, Stu was still inside hosting the party. Speaking of Tatum, Rose McGowan had to be fixed to the doggy door of the garage, because she COULD fit easily through it on the practice runs. Also, it is believed that Stu had feelings for Billy, hence the reason he killed innocent people in the name of helping Billy to exact his revenge. The movie is called “SCREAM” and the mask design was inspired by the painting “The Scream,” and thus it becomes a double meaning.
@Adnap Music You are a dumbass. First off, Loomis in Halloween was named after a character in Psycho, Yu moron. Second, STU killed Tatum, not Billy, Yu fucking dipshit. Billy would NOT have been able to slip into the party, Stu would have. Third, it was named Scream because Harvey Weinstein wanted it named after the Michael Jackson song and video, NOT cuz of the painting, fucking dumbass! Don't spread false info. Fucking dumbass!
Fun thing to notice , when billy was dressed as the killer he was more precise but when stu was dressed as the killer , he was incredibly clumsy and looked more uncoordinated . When you rewatch the film you actually start to notice the differences
As a long-time Scream-obsessed fan, it is so refreshing watching you guys experience this for the 1st time. You need to watch the rest of the franchise. There are 5 movies and the 6th just finished shooting and will be in theaters in March of 2023.
I hadn't seen this before, I just recently found your channel and I'm still going through the back catalog. Really nice reaction. I would just point out that the killers were just teenagers using what they learned from horror movies. Them being clumsy and not exactly precise in their murders is expected. I hope you're doing at least some of the sequels this October. People talk smack about them, but 2, 3 and 4 aren't bad at all. 3 is very campy, but I still like it. The latest one was disappointing to me. It was the only movie of the franchise that I immediately guessed who the killer(s) is(are) and didn't doubt anyone else not even for a second. So a lot of the enjoyment was lost. Still, I hope you get to it as well.
In the mid 90s, the horror genre wss basically dead. The slasher craze of the 80s was long over, the Halloweens and Friday films had churned out some of their worst sequels. And then Scream came out in 96, and breathed new life into the genre. Suddenly, horror was hip again. I was 17, I remember going to see this alone, and it legitimately scared the crap out of me. A week or two later, I saw it again with a group of friends, and we laughed more than we screamed, had a blast with it. It's a testament to how well it balances the horror with the almost satirical aspect at the same time. By the way, the scene where Billy is being questioned: "What are you doing with a cellular phone, son?" "Everybody's got one, Sheriff." Wow, does that line make me feel old! Lol
A quarter century after seeing this in a theater and it still hits with the jump scares and horror movie references throughout. As usual, you guys rock! October is great when I see you guys do horror. Looking forward to more and to your Sopranos reactions. Great editing as well.
Fun fact about the intro: I was watching behind-the-scenes, and apparently they forgot to disconnect the phone Drew Barrymore was using, so every time she dialed 911, she accidentally called the cops screaming about a psycho/murderer 😂😅
The new phone system at my work requires people to dial 911 before the actual number and the cops have to come out to our office every time the call doesn't go through correctly, to be sure nothing is wrong.
Incorrect. They didn't forget to disconnect. There was a power Serge and the phone unexpectedly connected to the police. Get your facts straight, dumbass!
I will comment this on every Scream reaction, but my favorite moment is when Billy reveals his motive and Stu has this look of “Oh I didn’t know that.”
4:30 To be fair it was a trick question so even if she'd said Mrs Voorhees Ghostface probably would have said "No I meant the killer of the overall series which is Jason." Billy and Stu admit to Sidney that they'd kill people whether they answered right or wrong.
At the time this film came out it was advertised like Drew Barrymore was gonna be in the whole movie. So the opening scene was a shock for the audience
i never noticed but the actor of the virgin movie buff is named jamie kennedy, when he speaks to the tv playing the movie 'halloween' he says 'turn around jamie, he is right behind you!' referring to jamie lee curtis but it was also his own real name.

“Oh no! They finished!” made me laugh way too hard.
Same 🤣👍
Tatums death scene always gets me. Rose could actually fit through so watching her pretend she couldn’t is always funny to watch.
Yeah they should've just had a smaller dog door but it probably wasn't in the budget.
This is hands down one of my top favorite slasher films I grew up watching ever!! Glad to see ur reacting to this!!
I can’t believe neither of you watched Scream. You both gotta watch and react to the sequels too.
True
Oh please! They definitely need to.
Do you know how to read?
They HAVE watched it. This is a reupload.
@@MrParkerman6 s. SequelS. As in all of them
@MrParkerman6 Doesn't that mean re edited?
Fun Fact: When Tatum is trying to go through the dog door during film she actually was small enough to fit through so she had to act like she couldn't
19:32 - She actually was able to get through the dog door easily. She had to pretend she didn't for the take that is in the movie.
I clicked so fast lol. I love when youtubers react to this movie/trilogy
I actually had a mask like that when I was a kid because of this movie. The vision in it is very limited so it is understandable that the person wearing it would be tripping on stuff and falling over.
Matthew Lillards performance in this epic movie was a tour de force
Billy & Stu are my favorite “couple” in horror. 😂
28:05 Billy planned on killing Stu and making him look like Neil Prescott's accomplice while Billy pretended to be the sole survivor of his own murders.
Fun Fact : "STAB" was Directed by Robert Rodriguez.
Stu is by far my favorite Ghostface of all time!!!!
Easily the funniest too.
@@clevelandcbi exactly
@clevelandcbi Yeah the sequel tries too hard. I thought the third was the funniest which is why so many didn't like it.
Your reaction at 12:34 makes this a golden video.
The music change when opening the closet and the creek on the floor at 9:06 is brilliant attention to detail.
TBR: 'You had multiple jump scares."
(Billy enters window)
Samanthas face, lol 😆
One of the best meta films ever made, imo.
This is easily one of the best horror movies ever made. The sequel is pretty damn good as well.
@Jeroen You’re just uncultured swine. Move along.
Agree Scream is a W horror franchise
Jeroen oh yes, THE sequel…
You guys NEED to do the whole scream series! Loved this one
Scream...the movie that was supposed to put an end to the slasher genre but became an hommage and brought a comeback to the genre in the 90's ! Until the genre died again in the 2000 with the arrival of the found footage genre...Still a pretty good movie and the sequel are not bad either !!
Such a classic.
Also, there's a cameo from Wes Craven dressed as Freddy Krueger.
*Fred Krueger
This Scream Series is Awesome !!!
Well the new ones aren't.
And when Courtney Cox crashes the van I instantly think of Ken Marino driving & crashing the van in Wet Hot American Summer. 🤣
I am writing this to help out Tbr Schmitt and Samantha and this video and this channel with the algorithm ✌️❤️😚☺️
I am not a bot.
@@John_Locke_108 me 2
40:00 Wes Craven's New Nightmare predates this by two years.
@@MrParkerman6 Your mother is a jumpoff. 😄😄😂😂🖕🏿
What I love is that the guy telling Jamie Lee Curtis "he's behind you Jamie " while the killer is actually behind HIM - that actors name is Jamie Kennedy, he's literally talking to himself
This was such an innovative way of storytelling. Top 10 slasher for sure.
Can't wait for you guys to watch all of the movies in this franchise.
Wes craven is an underrated master of his genre.
....except Wes didn't write Scream, dumbass.
No! Kevin wrote it, NOT Wes!
@@GaryTongue-zn5di That's like saying Spielberg didn't write Schindler's list. 😂
Fred, who cleaned the floor was the director Wes Craven^^ 😁😁
Really enjoyed watching the full version of this! So much fun. :)
Stu killed four and Billy tried to kill three smh.
This movie never gets old, so entertaining!
"Oh!, What a good little throw back!" Hey TBR...that WAS Wes Craven doing a cameo in his movie!!
Wrong, dumbass. It is Neve not a double.
WRONG! It was NOT A stunt double , it was. Neve Campbell
Courteney Cox (Gale) and Davi Arquette (Dewey) met at a pre-film party and later were married for 11 years.
No they didn't, they met on set and no such thing as a pre film party.
This piano sound effect was so brilliant 🤣 11:09
One of my favorite slasher movie and favorite franchises. I like the killer in this because it's not like an unstoppable, strong, and immortal killer we see, but it's more than one killer. I'm so glad you watched this movie and i hope you'll continue the franchise. Also R.I.P to Wes Craven. Hope you guys will have a lovely day!!
I dont know why but the closing shot with the music playing as Gail is doing her exclusive makes me so emotional
Even though this is a "re-run", I'm here for it lol!
Same
Why is it a re-run?
@@SamJackson-xu1py Its a re-upload as stated in the title.
@@adamromero Gotcha. I meant why though.
@@SamJackson-xu1py I assume it initially got taken down for copyright reasons.
Loomis = Doctor Loomis
Also one of the character’s names in the original Halloween had used the last name Loomis, and a similar tradition was carried on in Scream.
(The death of America’s sweetheart)
They do a great job making everyone look guilty.
Things you don’t notice about the film until the second time around you watch it:
When Sidney says “If Tatum sees you, she’ll draw blood; If you look at Billy, you can can see him react accordingly through his expressions, considering he is most likely the one that killed her.
@Adnap Music
You are a dumbass.
*Second time, dumbass. Learn to read! This is an reupload.
Not only that, but they also didn’t realize that horror movies are different from reality. Knife wounds do hurt.
21:30
Him: *suspicious of Dewey*
Her: he killed his own sister?
Him: she was always mean to him…
LMAO😭😭
4:46 Perfectly timed scream right there 😂👏 That chair jumpscare gets us all
In the mid 90s, the horror genre wss basically dead.
By the way, the scene where Billy is being questioned:
"What are you doing with a cellular phone, son?"
"Everybody's got one, Sheriff."
Wow, does that line make me feel old! Lol
True H20 came out soon after this and was popular due to this.
A quarter century after seeing this in a theater and it still hits with the jump scares and horror movie references throughout. As usual, you guys rock! October is great when I see you guys do horror. Looking forward to more and to your Sopranos reactions. Great editing as well.
Scream came out 26 years ago. That is OVER a quarter of a century, dumbass.
The beginning has almost 80 horror vibes with the changes in music while the conversation gets worse. Brilliant attention to detail.
Fun fact about the intro: I was watching behind-the-scenes, and apparently they forgot to disconnect the phone Drew Barrymore was using, so every time she dialed 911, she accidentally called the cops screaming about a psycho/murderer 😂😅
That's the funniest shit I've ever heard. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Did you know this flick is inspired on a true story that happened near the University of Florida, Go Gators...Gainesville Ripper
I will comment this on every Scream reaction, but my favorite moment is when Billy reveals his motive and Stu has this look of “Oh I didn’t know that.”
"Why do you wanna know my name?"
"Because I wanna know who I'm looking at"
Chills. Goosebumps. Every. Damn. Time.
Now Hellraiser from 1987 😉
i never noticed but the actor of the virgin movie buff is named jamie kennedy, when he speaks to the tv playing the movie 'halloween' he says 'turn around jamie, he is right behind you!' referring to jamie lee curtis but it was also his own real name.

Don’t know if anyone else has told you but Wes craven’s new nightmare is considered the reason people were accepted of this movie. New nightmare was meta which made it one of the 3 best nightmare movies. Studio wasn’t giving scream a chance back then hence they put it as a December release
