Honestly your assessment of the game is spot on. Copen's new botched playstyle hampers the experience and the story is pretty inconsequential to the rest of the series. Not a bad game but they tried to fix what isn't broken. If they just kept Copen's playstyle from iX1 with the Bullit dash meter being the only change that would have made it harder for casual players to just fly over everything while still allowing the more skilled players to have fun with Copen's high mobility.
@@themythicalgriffin385 the story could have been good. I really like the concept but it's less fleshed out than iX1. Final boss phase 2 theme can still make me tear up a bit.
For me LAiX2 fixed some issues I had in LAiX1, while removing good things I liked about it. As much as I liked air dashing in LAiX1, I hardly felt stages actually had any design other than backgrounds cuz I barely touched the ground. And enemies didn't have much stopping ability against it so it also felt a bit too easy. And S+ ranking was made possible while having Gutless on for some reason. Those are my gripes with LAiX1 I like melee idea in LAiX2 but it doesn't feel good to use when first hit doesn't have any staggering cabability. It's only useful against half of the bosses as well. They made scoring system feel rewarding while forgetting to play test the game and some stages are insanely unbalanced. I didn't care about healing cuz of my S+/X-rank mentality. For next game i'd like the idea of old LAiX1 airdashing and better melee while game allows you to choose your own playstyle between aerial shooter or grounded slasher. Or make them separate armors to use (plus aerial melee would be nice).
Speaking of armors, what would happen if iX3 had a new feature where you need to find four pieces of a new armor that can enhance Acura’s/Copen’s abilities just like in X’s armours in Mega Man X/Rockman X such as the Fourth Armor from X4 or the Falcon Armor from X5.
iX 2 was apparently a conscious decision to allow newcomers to get used to their LA iX games. And maybe even get the Zero/ZX fanbase to join the fun. But from what I have seen, if they wanted to bring in back Zero/ZX in the gunvolt series, they need to reward ground combat far more, as well make the melee weapon fun to use. Zero exactly did that with the close combat. All in all, iX 2 seems to be more of a test bed for the implimentation of said former gameplay elements. Since I mentioned it, @Tar0zX+ have you ever tried out the Megaman Zero and ZX series?
Imagine ix2 have a update that improve copen’s speed and movement, split the attack button into 2 different type (one are shooting, the other are melee)
The level design in IX2 was fantastic, but clearly wasn't built around Copen's new playstyle. I think if we make the saw faster, added it as a separate attack and increased its damage, then restore Copen's old Bullet dash, we could really have something *awesome.*
This is one problem I found with inti creates. In the sequel and later on they try to change the gameplay to keep it fresh but they change it too much that it actually feels worse (ex: megaman zero 4)
Really enjoying iX2; I love Copen and his story. But damn I wish melee felt stronger and smoother, and that we had our mobility bullit dashes just a BIT more like the previous :(
i remember that i imagined that copen would have some mode change system at iX2 when i saw concept art of his new armor... like air dash mode for iX1 control and power mode for iX2 control
Copen : why cant i do 3 combo attack with my handgun? Lola : Gun with 3 combo, boss? Lol You always can shoot repeatly Copen :... ah k.... I just confused
I get that they want us to "earn" iX1 Acura's style, but what's the point if I can just play iX1 without getting to 1000 kudos. iX2 Acura is a big step down from what was built up from GV2 and iX1 imo. If they wanted to put in a blade style gameplay they could have just used Kohaku's sister as a second character lol.
Ok that got a chuckle out of me there. As for iX2 that game is the 1st gunvolt game I felt very mixed, story is ok but maybe something I'd consider filler arc to an extent. Gameplay.. I got used to it and if sticking with it I'd want to see it developed better, but I'd still prefer the old playstyle of his aerial combat far more. Still would tolerate hard mode a little if they hadn't gave a lives system and let you have some abilities. But yeah unfortunate on that game and kinda hope GV3 is better, cause iX2 for me feels like Zero 4, some changes I'm not a fan of but can tolerate going through(even if Zero 4 didn't change that much like how iX2 did) probably my least favorite but I don't hate the game.
iX2 melee wouldn't feel as bad if you could use better melee moves while hovering, had 3 bullits and aerial reload, and there wasn't a 0.5s delay when canceling 3rd hit Razor Wheel.
also I gotta say I kinda miss the idea of having the anti-projectile flashfield when EX weapon gauge is full (though iX1 is dumb and lets you switch weapons)
@@bestaround3323 I definitely need more than 1. I'm not good enough to be perfect with my movement. Also I'm annoyed at lack of ground lock on like Holy crap bosses are fucking me in hard mode because I can't dash into them from ground.
I played ix2 dan asgv2 (just copen) at same time (i just get it both recently) and oh boy, the difference when you play is real. After suffered by the slow pace when playing in ix2, i switch it to asgv2 (copen story) and it feel more enjoyable and satifying to see copen flythought the level to mantain the aerial combo. I just hope asgv 3 or next ix sequel learn lesson from ix2 in what they need to improve and fix
Sad part is in theory the style change could have worked but in execution you can tell it was not designed around copen not having multiple dashes, like this had to be a last minute design change to enforce the saw melee gameplay.
The game literally exists because somebody wanted Copen to slice up robots. That was the day 1 design doc. They just also realized that melee on Copen doesn't work, so they locked you from actually playing Copen until you hit 1000. 🙃
@@lancergv2331 They could have just waited until ASG3 to have Kirin cut robots in two. Melee Copen could have worked better if he had all of Zero's attack options and didn't take so long to do a 3-hit combo. None of the bosses really give you long enough of an opening to use the 3-hit combo and the homing shots are far safer to use anyway.
Im iffy on Ix2. I definitely dont like how the three slash attack is how you are supposed to gain score. I definitely feel like Copen needs more options in combat for ground combat. I dont feel that Im rewarded for using special weapons besides being a boss weakness. Dash Bump thing is underutilized. I definitely dont care for high score in the game. I have fun when I actually get to have the flight mode and when I got to hard mode. Bosses dont feel like spark mandrill when hitting them with their weaknesses, I found more use out of the special weapons in hard mode since I cant keep score that long. I didnt use them in normal mode until going for Kohakus outfits. The game doesnt have the flow what the other three games had at the start and I think it does hinder the game.
