Have been an oil tech in the US for 50 years. Used to do heavy oil #6, #4 oil now everything is #2 oil and gas both natural and propane. Worked on burners from residential up to around 100 gallons/hour or so 400 boiler horsepower. Your equipment and burners seem much different than we have although your burners remind me of Riellos which we have over here now for the past 30-40 years. Retired now. Enjoy your videos. Don't think we have any oil condensing boilers over here. They did try some of that years ago but I think they gave up on that. Your fuel may be better quality. Condensing gas boilers are big over here but very expensive. Our other residential boilers are Cast Iron. They seem to have given up on steel for non-condensing boilers for the most part. Commercial and industrial steel boilers (scotch marine) like Clever Brooks are popular for the big stuff
Great vid all Aqua flames which are still alive worked great on a conventional flue it was the balanced flue which where the company's downfall . Happy new year 👍👍
Hi. Thanks for the comment. Yes we do if the boiler has been sooted up so we wait until clear on smoke gun before we stick the machine in. apart from that it depends on the boiler etc. You have to love a smoke gun! Have a good day.
Hi Rob, I am a gas engineer but have recently retrained in oil when we moved to a new rural area with no mains gas. I LOVE your videos, they are so helpful and I have learned so much from you, so thank you! Quick question on conventional flue boiler services - do you sweep the flue as part of your service? I had a customer who was surprised I didn't do this as part of the service, so just interested to hear what you do at BOBS. My boiler service is really thorough and takes me at least half a day, sometimes longer, so not sure how profitable it would be if I had to chimney sweep the whole flue as well! Keep up the good work and thanks again for taking the time to make such great videos, you make a REAL difference to engineers such as myself!
Thanks for the great comment. We do not sweep flues. They do not soot up. Obviously you can get the odd bird have a little build up top but not often. If a boiler soots up very badly i will stick a rod up a metre or so but that is it. The trouble is if you have a old liner that is ok you will prob destroy it cleaning it and then if you cant get a new one you are in trouble. You will soon know if you get a blocked flue.! On conventional flue you can also do a draught test but not many do to be honest. Hope this helps! Keep up the good work!
Hi Rob! Love your vlogs. I serviced an Aquaflame today. The ends of the two smaller baffles looked like they had shattered, and splayed out. What do you think caused this? Too much heat? I’ve never seen anything like it before!
Hi great video! Can you tell me what the gap should be or how to set electrodes please? My burner been trippin/no starting. I'm no gas tech but did my own investigation. Fan ok. Fuel pump looks ok (draws the fuel) but I can't hear electrodes. Photo cell is also good I checked it with multimeter Thanks
Hi. It is not lightly to be down to the gap. on the sterling burner the electrodes finish level with the top of the nozzle. The transformers are common for this sort of problem. Hope thgis helps. How often does it lock out and is it getting worse? also is it random or only in the morning or once hot?
@@BartonOilBurnerServices Oh all clips are 480? That "kills" me, can't watch that. I thought it was a problem I should mention. Was very interested in the content, so. Sorry, didn't want to offend or anything.
HNY Team Barton , I predict you will get to 3000 before the end of 2024 , great stuff keep them coming 👏👏👏
We can only hope! Thanks for the great comment.

Hi Rob😀, To much heat or the holes the baffles sit in are not clean enough. is it serviced every year?
Happy new year bobs!
Happy new year mate !
Great vid. Where did you get your electronic oil gauge? I always struggle to see the readings on my gauge. Especially in darker rooms.
Hi. I got it from a company called Abgo. They do boiler spares and are very good. There not cheap but very good! Hope this helps.
