  • The RYOBI P2107 18V Leaf Blower stopped working. It’s seven years old, so a warranty replacement is not an option, and I have gotten my money's worth and use out of it. I replaced it with a larger 40V unit, but I am not as happy with it. In addition to yard work, I I also use this out on the job sites, and if I stuck with the new one, I would be forced to bring a 40V battery along, when I already have 18V batteries with me.
So, I broke the unit down, and realized that the plastic switch lever that actuates the electrical switch has broken, probably from me throwing it around in my truck, or dropping it. Not the best design, but not the worst either.
After three attempts to glue it, twice with CA glue, and once with 5-minute epoxy, all of which failed. I went to the internet in search of a replacement part. Amazingly, this part is not available from Ryobi or any of the other spare parts websites I usually use. The next option was having to either cast a new switch in resin or model a new one up. I was very fortunate that this is a regular issue with this blower, and someone had already modeled up the switch for 3D printing on Thingiverse. This saved me a TON of time. And after 20 minutes on the 3d Printer, there was a new replacement switch lever ready for install.
I installed the new part, and everything worked like a champ! I wished I would have started with that option first. I probably could have saved myself a couple of hours of waiting on glues to dry!
And that fixed my issue, and this leaf blower is back in service!
Thanks for watching Dad It Yourself!!!

I have the exact same Ryobi leaf blower and it just stopped working yesterday. After watching your video, I was able to determine it was indeed the switch that was broken. I've just ordered the part from ArnoldCustomCreation and hope to receive the new piece next week. Thank you so much!

Just printed this part last night for my dad's leaf blower. Thank you for putting in file, it just saved a leaf blower from the trash. Great channel and channel name BTW. Best of luck!

It’s always cool when you can find a model! I fixed my blender last week with 3D printing.

I have the exact same blower. It works great but a few years ago it fell off of a table and the handle cracked. I did a duct tape patch job that is now wearing out. I’m going to try to find a replacement body for it and I guess I’ll also swap out the switch while I’m in there. 👍🏼

When gluing plastic items, use super glue and baking soda, when mixed well , becomes like concrete. You could have tried JB weld also…..

Hopefully the Etsy seller can make more. I messaged him and will see. But thanks to your video for researching for me. You would figure a common broken switch would be available by Ryobi lol. I love this leaf blower top much to trash it esp when it's just a switch.

Great instructions, thanks! I disassembled mine and found the plastic switch is not broken. A little more investigation and I found the electrical switch actuated by the plastic lever is only working intermittently. Can't find a replacement part. Does anyone have a source? TIA

My Ryobi blower same model will work when plugged but not with a battery and I have 6 batteries. Any thoughts?
