I love this super easy and moist green tea cupcake recipe! Here are the ingredients you will be needing:
1 cup cake flour
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp green tea matcha powder ( www.amazon.com/... )
1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk

I tried this recipe after using/ trying many other matcha cupcakes from TH-cam, I have to say this is by far the best! Im going to keep it in my baking book and will definitely make it again and again! And of course, subscribed!
To anyone that wants to do this recipe with almond milk I suggest you do 1 cup of it instead of 1/2 cup. I did this recipe with 1/2 cup of almond milk and it turned into a really thick mousse. I then added another 1/2 cup and it turned more like the consistency of the batter in the video.

Made these today and they are soo good! Although i added chocolate chips because i wasn’t gonna add frosting and only put 1/2 cup of sugar and the sweetness is perfect. The matcha flavor is just right but i want a stronger matcha flavor so ill add 3 tbsp next time
I'm so sad that you're no longer making videos :(. I was really happy I found this recipe because it turned out soooo good! I actually ended up making a black sesame Italian buttercream, which was so much work...but definitely worth it! I made them for my friend's birthday, and had three extras (two of which my boyfriend and I had). So yummy! I hope you're doing well!

actually, self rising flour and cake flour are completely different. self raising flour has raising agents already added to it and is used for muffins. Cake flour has a lower gluten content which gives cakes a more tender crumb and fluffy texture. To sub, put a tablespoon of corn or potato starch into a dry measuring cup and fill the rest with plain flour. sorry if I sounded rude, but I hope this helped a little bit.

+Syazlina Aasim cinnamon is pretty strong so I wouldn't recommend that! there are probably good cinnamon cupcake recipes online since idk if taking out the matcha powder and replacing with a tsp of cinnamon would work
I think if you were to do that i would say half it or maybe even quarter it because cinnamon is very strong

I think I may add some more matcha to my cupcakes (I’m a strong lover of matcha!) and I’ll make a few that have vanilla frosting, and a few with black sesame frosting, as some of my family members don’t like black sesame (which is nearly a crime!)

Would this recipe work if I substituted the all purpose and cake flour with 2 cups of whole wheat purpose flour?
I'm not really sure honestly D: I'm assuming it would work but the taste and texture might be very different

can we use normal green tea from the tea bags? we do not get green tea matcha powder in india
unfortunately it wont taste the same, matcha powder is special blended green tea leafs
green tea from tea bags doesn't have the matcha taste neither

OhHeyKathy yes! Any milk can be a great substitute! I'd say coconut milk would be amazing...
May I ask why whenever I bake cupcakes, I fill batter with like 70% full and when it's baking,it rises and tbe cupcake rises out of the cupcake liner leaving like a lump at the side instead of round shape cupcake?
Maybe your oven works differently, try filling it much less next time and see how that works? :)

Yes normally you cant because flour has more gluten in it but Amy said you could so I guess so

Well she usually makes the batter for enough of 12 cupcakes so if one person takes one cupcake you can serve it for 12! If you want it for less/more people you will have to work out the ratios and divide/multiply by around how many extra or less people there will be

Sorry I forgot to show the amount of milk in the video, but you need 1/2 cup of milk :) to me the flavor is pretty noticeable, but it is neither overpowering or too subtle.

When she says cake flour, does it mean I can use like... boxed cake flour? Or is it a special flour? Like the self-rising flour type? Thank you :D
Natalia Ortega it's a type of flour, and it's not self rising flour

+Mo Loves fishies Cake flour makes it fluffier, not exactly moister, but very lighter. If you really want cake flour, sift 1 cup ap flour (minus 2 tablespoons) and 2 tbsp cornstarch 5-6 times. Just AP flour would be fine though :)

substitute for egg ?
1 tbsp of cornstarch + 3tbsp of water, mix thoroughly :) this equals one full egg^^* hope I helped
+vaishaki jain 1 tbsp flaxseed meal + 2.5 tbsp water and let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to thicken. 1/3 cup applesauce or 1/4 cup pureed banana works as well

Bethany Rivervalley It has a floral tea flavor with a bit of a kick, not really spicy, but it has like a flavor that wakes you up a bit. It tastes really good. Try it if you can!

Glad you liked it! You can decrease the amount of sugar for the frosting if you want :) I'm actually not a huge fan of buttercream either haha
