The fact that he flew a nuke into enemy territory and was certain he wasnt coming back was pretty badass.
Honestly this was probably the best way to end the Halo Series. It's bittersweet. Chief saved the day again, but Cortana had to sacrifice herself to do it. the last remnants of the Covenant that we know of are dead or defeated, and the Arbiter is probably cleaning them up now as Chief reminisces about Cortana, missing her greatly but knowing there was no other way. Aside from smaller conflicts that can never truly be prevented entirely, for they're just too frequent, the galaxy is at peace and will remain that way for a long time.
The only things I would change to make this the perfect final game would be to have the Infinity on the breaking point by the time Chief arrives at that big area where he takes out the cannons, and then right as he takes out the first, Lasky starts to say abandon ship, until we hear a familiar voice over the comms.
"Stay your course, Infinity. Sanghelios will stand with Humanity."
It's the Arbiter, and he's brought his entire fleet to save Earth. Taking most of the heat off of the Infinity, Lasky's men are able to repair the ship's mac gun in time to fire off a round that penetrates the Didact's ship's hull, allowing Chief to get inside and do what he does best: Save the day.
Better if he said "Sanghelios have a debt to repay"

This theme.....just sometimes fills you up with hope and no matter how hard things get this theme always reminds you to push forward and no matter what don't look back, because nothing can be worse. Things always get better. If you ever think they don't just look up into the stars and keep moving forward to them.
In my opinion I have enjoyed every Halo game 343 or not I loved all of them.

This song '117' is definitely one of the best pieces of music in the entire series. I, personally, think it betters the original Halo main theme. It goes through stages, tells a story; and then ends on one of the most epic climaxes which adds a pinch of familiarity by mixing the original theme into it for a brief moment.
It's just so much more dynamic.
The Mjolnir Mix probably gives me as much goosebumps, though.
Halo 4 was, in my view, one of those rare gems of a generation, much like halo 2 in the 6th gen era, or Tom Baker in the Classic Doctor Who era. It had one hell of a story, kickass new characters, and incredible visuals. If one thing is bad about this game, i honestly haven't seen it. The scores are incredible, the gameplay is very well fluid, and the graphics push the hardware to its limit, so Props to 343, you won my halo heart :D

Gameplay had a good few problems with hitboxes and the prometheans were just not at all fun to fight. Some lore inconsistences at the beginning of the game. Story I'd say is more an opinion thing. Didact survives the final scene with Chief and is killed off in a comic. That's all off the top of my head but I could go on if I gave it some thought. If you like the game then that is completely fine. More power to you. Just don't pretend the hate directed at something is without reason.

It annoys me to see how much people hate Halo 4 for being different . I would rather have a game developer that tries to bring new ideas then just release the same thing over and over.
+Vincent Bédard I enjoyed Halo 4 I love it far better than Halo 5. Halo 4 explored the Master Chief as an actual character which was brilliant! The drama the connection between chief and cortana. The race against time to save cortana before she dies forever. The return of a more darker threat against humanity, the introduction of a new covenant faction. So much happened in Halo 4 that I cant see how ppl hated it, sure some of the music didn't fit for a Halo game but this theme is amazing and fits Chief perfectly

Neo - Devil Halo 5 in my opinion is one of the weaker Halo games. Not only did it sell the least amount of copies but it lacked the most amount of content day one and still does. Not to mention the poor campaign, the worst part of it was the character development. Second worse was how short it was, the campaign felt rushed. The multiplayer also had/has problems from spawns to the targeting system. Splitscreen also wasn't in this game, first main halo game to drop the feature. But what kills me the most is that these noobs praise 343 along with other people. They refuse to address the issues of Halo 5 and the still bugged MCC. 343 in my opinion fell short after Halo 5 I don't know if this is due to lack of developing time or they took a turn for the worse but I will not be buying Halo 6 on launch at most it will be a rental

This game is about your story and that you can become a legend. So what they gave him the name John. It is just another name. The man under the helmet is you this is your story .You are the one who people will always put down, just to see you rise again and become something more than anyone can imagine. 5:26 is where the "From the Cradle..." part kicks in, where you have to destroy the weapons so Infinity can attack the Composer.
I really like Halo 4, I don't understand all this hate. Bungie were great, but so are 343. I didn't like all these changes at first but I changed. Like the game did.

Same here. Halo 4 may not be that much better if compared to other halo games but if you compare it on its own, its a really nice game. Its just the first attempt of 343i. Of course everyone makes mistakes. but the two things I didn't like in halo 4 were, 1. In the level 'Prologue', why are all the spartans wearing John's Cortana-altered Mark VI armor and, 2. I think until level 4, that is 'Infinity', Chief should get access to the halo 3 era UNSC weapons only, because the forward unto dawn cant possibly have MA5D Assault Rifle and the M6H Magnum as they are produced later after halo 3 I think

I did like Halo 4 as well, it had a few rough patches and there were certainly some issues but in the end I think it was a great game.

Sharan Marepally The only things I REALLY didn't like were the personal ordnance drops and that the game didn't do anything particularly new. I think 343i can do a fantastic job with halo 5.
Both the Broadsword song and Arrival that play during the last level are two of the best soundtracks from Halo 4. Playing on Solo Legendary and having those two songs pump me up the entire time were the best.

Halo 4 had its flaws, the campaign had too many instances of pushing buttons, but the game HAD the BEST story and character interaction between cheif and cortana, AND had some of the best music, a great but flawed game.
The story was what makes it good. Contrary to what a lot of critiques say, Halo has a very good, if simple story. The lore is good, the characters good... It's why I still love Halo. Not because of the gameplay or multiplayer...but because the story is so damn good...
RapidFyrez Halo had one of the most atmospheric and tense levels in any video game, im of course talking about the flood level, the bulid up to that threat is palpable. I hope halo 5 has one of those things.

Mainly in the multiplayer and sound department, yeah. The biggest issue I had with the game was the changing of all the classic sounds. It just felt....wrong

If 343 had ANYTHING to brag about, it's this music, the level it belongs to, and the music and level ahead of it.
Those last 2 levels are without a doubt legendary. It reminds you what you as a Spartan II are fighting for. You are, and likely will be till the day you die, a soldier who puts his life on the line to defend humanity. I hope 343 is proud of this, because not only is it the one thing they got right, but they did it spectacularly.

I loved this level. It really reminded me of Starfox, and the music had such an epic feel to it and made you feel like the fate of the world was up to you.
James Westhoff It reminded me of pretty much any Ace Combat tunnel run. Similar placement near the end of the game, right flying, amazing music, etc.

This video is the first video I have ever seen with zero dislikes, this just goes to show that the time and effort that 343 put into makeing this masterpiece was worth it. this music should be played by radio stations and played in orcastras in the years to come.
Nothing beats playing through every freaking halo on legendary and getting to this point. Especially if you can so it without dying in that final flight section its so epic.
I can't stop listening to this, it's certainly a great addition to the Halo universe.

nightshade616 Which is perfect, it's supposed to be its own epic movement while simultaneously paying homage to Marty's work. The progression still invokes that sensation of invincibility but instead of a 'badass supersoldier' tone it gives off a more 'legendary hero' vibe to it.

Just finished the MC Collection, from start to finish on legendary and even though I agree the first is the best, 343 Halo 4 is the most personal, in my opinion we will see the most character growth of MC ever. The original trilogy served as a introduction to the Halo universe, the conclusion of the Human/Covenant war but the new trilogy will explore MC humanity and destiny and will end with his death, it will be a emotional roller coaster ride for true Halo fans. I can not wait for Halo 5, it will be EPIC.

It's funny how the first time you die the soundtrack changes to this. It really keeps you going.
Also, I loved the dialoge in this part of the mission with the music. It made it, for lack of a better term, more epic. I felt like I had to complete the job. Even before playing the game and listening to this I figured this was either a pivotal scene in game, or the opening or closing credits piece. It works in any of those situations and I was glad when they put it in the credits too

Reach: The fantastic game everyone had a love-hate relationship with because you couldn't play as Chief.
Wars: The game that became the best RTS on console and provided us with a new take on the Halo universe everyone hated because there was no FPS action.
ODST: The game with an amazing atmosphere and immersive campaign everyone hated because it didn't feature a spartan and was a little too expensive.
4: The game that was trashed by gamers worldwide because 343 made it and with good reasons, killed off Cortana.
5: The game that is already being bagged by gamers because 343 is making it.

No one cares about Cortana. They hated how 343 completely ruined the multiplayer.
Also I think the reason no one liked ODST was because it didn't have a multiplayer which is one of the main reasons people played Halo at that time. Personally however, it's my favourite halo to date and I think it had the best story of any halo game (and that's saying a lot).

I didn't know this actually was the Chief's official theme until now, but when I first heard this song on Midnight, that's what it INSTANTLY stuck in my head as. Don't get me wrong, Rock Anthem's a great song, but it's more Halo's theme than anything. THIS is the theme of John 117.

this soundtrack was the redemption of the broadsword segment for me. i was playing splitscreen with one of my siblings who is still learning games, so my FoV is restricted, and out screen was dimmed for some reason, so i was trying to avoid dark objects on a dark screen. this soundtrack made that slightly less frustrating. not to say dying 10 times because i have an 8 year old squealing in my ear isnt annoying, but the soundtrack helped alot

This part in the campaign gave me goosebumps and chills, this music playing, the infinity and unsc guys talking on the radio, the earth above me. I felt like master chief himself, so awesome!! Even if you bring back the old soundtrack, definatlly keep this music, it's awesome!! :)

I went to the midnight release and by early morning I was on that level. I was so into it, I didn't crash at all. every time since then I've played that level I can't make it through without crashing at least twice. go figure.
I Loved Halo 4, and honestly had no problems with it. why? because halo is halo. i don't make a distinction between them because it's all the same story and universe. it's the same thing as not caring about the differences between the prequel trilogy in Star Wars and the original trilogy. Halo will always be Halo, Star wars will always be star wars, Marvel will always be Marvel, Gears of war will always be Gears of War, Ect...
Hearing this theme, realizing the Didact has finally reached Earth, and the panicking chatter of the UNSC Home Fleet...you know this is it. Either you accomplish your mission or that's it for Earth.
This is by far my favorite piece out of the entire Halo 4 Soundtrack, it gave me chills just like the music in the previous games and it felt Halo, even though it wasn't Marty composing it.
Now for people that say Halo 4 was a let down I ask how was it? Story wise this was probably the best Halo there was to date, people may hate that I say that, but you have to ask why would I say that. Reason is I've read all of the Novels, I know all of the back stories involving the Forerunner Saga. Why the Didact hated humans, etc. So until you know everything that has happened and why it all happened you can't judge Halo 4 for having the worst story, because it made the Chiefs Story more human, more down to earth and this is the first time the Novels, and Games have truly fallen into place, I'm excited to see where Halo 5 will take us now in Chiefs Story and life and how they will stop the Precursors/Flood once and for all.

I loved the music and story.
I found the other Halo's to be less...Well, emotional really.
Halo 1,2, and 3 were all kind of centered around fighting and not really charaters.
I only recently started Halo though, and Halo 4 was the first I ever tried, then 3, then 1, then Wars, then 2, then CE Anniversary, so that's probably why I liked 4 so much more.
heres what i found out about halo. the halo you love the most is the first one you play and the thing with halo is they change ever game. no halo is like the other halo and people hate that. people hate change. ever halo since 3 was called bad because was the halo that sold the most so the most people liked it. to some people ever halo after 2 was bad. halo 4 had some flaws and some really good things. the best part about halo 4 was not the game,but 343. they herd the cries of the fans and changed shit and that is a good fucking sign. also they were rushed to finish and wont be this time. halo 5 will be good, but the only question is will people buy it.

i thik the goal with 4 wasn't as much the fighting as the character development, and setting the stage for 5. i do think the story was great (like all halo stories), but more captivating than the rest, due to the emotional moment it packed.

I must say, I'm quite proud of O'Neil (writer of this song) for managing to please even the over-critical Halo 3/Bungie zealots (fanboys). That's not easy to do.

O'Neal? You mean Neil--and yes his compositions are brilliant. I am a musician and compose music myself and to hear how the electronic synths jive with the percussive beats, choir, and orchestra--it's just exhilarating. Marty O'Donnell did create fantastic score for a less dramatic series at the time. Halo 4's story is hands-down, the most dramatic one of all the Halos; therefore, the music must be more "grown-up", so to speak.
As one of the overzealous Bungie fans, I can agree. The OST was good. Not Marty-levels of badass, of course, but a very close second.

+Peep it's it that creative however the idea behind it is. The theory goes that it's the flood logic plague that turned mendicant bias against the forerunners is what's affected cortana as the logic plague was present in the domain.
In one of the missions in halo 4 (I believe it's called Composer), it had the classic opera like part from the halo theme. It's the mission when you see the Halo. They also had a remake of halo 3's 'Never Forget'.
I sold this game cuz it got repetitive. But I miss it so much...I miss my active camo....

create your own class? its fine, but that makes things unbalanced as fuck, plus no more fun "charge in with AR then melee" because everyone is using the BR, DMR, or LR
campaign was meh, (story was nice though)
wish they added theater mode for spartan ops and campaign (I blame the stupid qte events, even if they are only like 3 I have a feeling they contributed to the reason why there is no theater for campaign and spartan ops)
the charge with ar to melee was what sucked about halo multiplayer. it was skillless, all it did was rely on internet connection and encourage the hoarding of power weapons.
It was still fun though
plus the other halo games encouraged to use every weapons available IN THE MAP

Peter Aceto Do you understand how arena fps' are good? Do you understand how they work? The fact that you're mentioning the AR melee thing and saying it was effective is just upsetting. The trueskill system obviously good. Try that in Reach or Halo 3 against people who are competent. In Halo 3 the AR was a bit more than people gave credit for. It wasn't just shoot melee unless you were terrible, strafing/jumping should've come into account. In Halo: Reach it depends. Melee spam can be pretty effective, but if you were good with a Magnum you would drop the fuckers before they got to you and melee'd.
Peter Aceto Hey half the fun i had on halo 3 through to reach was hoarding power weapons. There was always a huge moshpit at the weapons/vehicle spawns to pick idiots off from
Peter Aceto a lot of early halo multi player was skill less. it was about knowing where the power weapons were and getting to them first. really skill came about with duel welding and all the combos you could make. halo multi player was perfect in the way where there was a lot of strategy that could be used but also enough randomness to keep the casuals into it. and a lot of randomness was lost in reach where people could just master the dmr and any casual would have no chance. halo 4 had both extremes in a combo that was little fun for both parties.

***** The helmets in Halo 4 like horrid! They don't look like helmets take the infiltrator for example it looks like a lump of metal full of nails and rivets without any eye slots/holes or even a visor.
