    The Midnite Express was a dealer created option. In states where the Lil' Red Express was not allowed, dealers took a standard stepside, ordered all parts and components from the Lil' Red and made it themself. From what I have read, they all had the 440 V8 and only around 200 were made. I've even seen some convert their Warlock to an Express variant

      Yeah it’s hard to know how many were done since they didn’t keep records. I guess many were done at Mr Norms dealership

    Years ago I had an older 70's dodge truck that the gas gauge would work between 3/4 full to1/4 tank below E, always worked well for me when I borrowed it out it always came back with more gas than when they took it. I haven't seen one like that again. ( took awhile to figure that out). Your rusty jones decal cracks me up, any vehicle with that were rusty, window must have been on the original body. Like you still waiting for average weather in central wi Later

    • @stage0garage
      @stage0garage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. I didn’t see where there was any extra effort out into the rust prevention. This windshield was from, like several things, the ‘89 Ramcharger. The original windshield had fogging and I shockingly broke the new cab’s putting it back in.

    I sure wish winter would give up the cold Temps. I have yet to take my d100 for a spin. I do plan on that before I take it apart to alter it to the drag truck. I have almost everything I need for the project now. The 67 coronet and the 70 charger have been sucking up my time lately. So many projects so little time 😅

    Its nice to have something that you can enjoy yet just be a driver. Too nice usually become trailer queens. I started wrenching on my own rigs in late fifties and early sixties. My attitude and age got me into the service so when home went professional mechanic on heavy equipment. In those times and days, it was legal theft to wrench on heavy equipment because you always had tools or someone helping lift stuff and its just a bigger pickup if ya have a imagination big as mine was. Everyone that was my age or close were chevy folks. Yet my favorite car was the 57 ford fairlane two door hardtop that I modified so heavy ... lets say I didn't have any friends cause I held the titles to all of their cars.. I had the engine for a much newer at the time ford, a true 427 spread dual four carb with crane cam and also everything was balanced and blueprinted. I went to alaska after my divorce as I had made this trip many times for the easy money but this time to stay. On the islands, not many cars or pickups as a road two miles in either direction just didn't make sense and a cab was cheap. Yeah, they still had Checker cabs then. Some of them had over five million miles on them. I got hurt a lot cause of my reckless ways, then my son had cancer so moved to anchorage to stay till his passing. I just didn't feel much but pain so started a small repair shop in that town that when people found I worked cheap and fast, super good reputation got me too much work so made that shop huge and started with employees. Made a s**t load of money so sold out, went to wasilla were things were quiet and easy laid back where I started tinkering on old pickups and did refurbs or total restorations. Worked on any and all models like the one your driving and kept with my F350 powerstroke 4x4 dually, five speed. I kept it till just a few years ago then cause I am a cripple and can't walk, gave it away. I miss that feeling you get when you fix up something everyone else needs and appreciates.

    Nice truck, great effort to save what was left of a classic. I remember the Black express version as well as the Warlock 4x4. Did you use urethane bushings with the sway bars or rubber ? I had an 80 chevy short box I put addco fr and rr sway bars on with urethane bushings and kyb gas adjust shocks with 15 x 8 rallye wheels and 275/60/15 Remington tires and she drove real nice, fun trucks for sure. Thanks for sharing.

    Cool truck,I almost bought one new in 79 but ended up with a trail duster instead. Fast foward to 2000 I found a nice original 79 for sale local,it needed some TLC but I was up for it,I was going to pick it up the following day but saw a new svt lightning that night,I put the lil red on hold until I was able to drive an 01 lightning. I bought a new 01,red of course and still have it today with only 10k miles,as much as I like my lightning I still have a spot for the old mopar trucks of my youth.

    • @stage0garage
      @stage0garage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Traildusters are harder to find than Ramchargers! It sounds like you made the right choice on the Lightening…I’ll bet that’s a fun truck to drive.

    • @glen7201
      @glen7201 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stage0garage Yes it is fun,but its not a lil red,they both are awesome trucks in their own era.. And I can't tell you how much I regret selling that trail duster, it was loaded also,two tone red and even had the CB radio. I did scratch that itch though with an 86 Ramcharger I bought back in the late 90s,and again wishing I would have kept it. I have had over 150 cars and trucks,and the reality is I couldn't keep them all,I do still have a 72 Cutlass and a pair of Mercedes convertibles though that I have made room for.

    Nice job. She sounds good. My 78 D-150 leaks in the same places. I found vent windows from an earlier d series that has the clamp on the front of the glass and they make a tighter seal. I believe the fuel sending unit in the tank is the culprit for the gauge. I have yet to change it. The radio is a really cool idea and frees up space for extra gauges. Overall great job

    • @stage0garage
      @stage0garage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! And that's stock exhaust (cat delete of course). I'll keep an eye out for those other vent windows...that whistling really bugs me. I found an even better solution for the maroon D100 for the sound system that requires NO dash space...of course I installed it the day the engine blew up on me :( but I'll post up that soon.

      @sykwookiee ปีที่แล้ว

      @skxj sorry, but a majority of guys call them wing windows...

    • @skxj
      @skxj ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sykwookiee well Dodge calls them door vent windows as does every aftermarket glass replacement shop in North America. I've never seen an airplane with windows in the wings nor have I ever seen a dodge truck fly after opening up "wing windows". Vent windows were introduced in American cars to help cool down occupants while travelling on the freeway in hot summer weather however in 1968 the auto manufactures were mandated to eliminate them due to holidaying Americans using them for litter chutes on the freeway causing an undesirable mess throughout the USA. Trucks however were exempt from this mandate. Its important to use correct terminology otherwise a bunch of people could inappropriately start calling men women which could lead to beer companies going outta business and we don't want that do we ?
