    In this video I compare the Panasonic DMC-FZ1000 and the Sony Cyber-shot HX400V. Even though these are both mega-zoom point and shoot bridge style cameras, they are very different when it comes to pricing and features. Which is right for you? Watch and find out! Enjoy!

    I bought an HX400V a few years ago, and I absolutely love it. Fun with 100x zoom and great nature and urban shots. And it's light.

    Very very crisp and precise review...you covered all the points...Kudos..
    I own a HX400V and have loved it from the day one for all it has to offer...but nothing substitutes image quality...I have now come to terms that you need quality images at the end of the day to justify the money and time spent on any camera....but it has been a great experience in handling a mega zoom cam...I wouldn't have known what the Sony is capable of hadn't I bought it in the first place...however, not all the pics are keepers from it...A bigger sensor seems to be a must now in any cam that I invest in in future...
    Thank you for your efforts in reviewing cameras...they certainly make my choices simpler...

    I Have to Sony HX400V which is a great camera except like many other
    Sony cameras is prone to the stabilisation error E:62:10. When this
    suddenly happened to my camera it rendered any zoom pics unstable and
    not properly focused. As my camera was out of warranty I found it would
    cost almost the same cost as a replacement camera. So be aware.

    • @SonyE6210
      @SonyE6210 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Future buyers of the HX400V should indeed beware, searching for E:62:10 on the Internet will show you the unbelievable amount of users that are victim of the same problem short after the expiration of the warranty. There are evidences that the maker is aware since 2015 but unfortunately still refuses to recognize the structural problem. Root cause of the problem is a cheap flex connector that breaks but repairers want to replace the full optical block and then it costs as much as a new device. A workaround procedure is available but it only works during a limited time. There is even a dedicated website explaining everything about this dreaded error code...

      @@thebigaverage-jordanspeck9045 bought one 2nd hand a week ago. kinda „freezes“ when battery is low (after hundreds of pics, no biggy).
      Image stabilization works fine and helps with the huge zoom. Lots of fun in all ranges, really. Treat it like the plasticky piece of consumer kit that it actually is and it will do lots for you in return. recommended.

    The HX400V probably has a lens with the same size, the diference in sensor size is what gives it a bigger zoom, but as well a harder time when it comes to capturing light, which will affect image quality. If I'm correct while the FZ1000 has a 1" sensor, the HX400V has a 1/3" inch sensor.

    Very nice review - of course a difference in price - the HX400v is a good value - I do find that IQ really suffers past 400-500mm due to atmospheric haze and IS - so I think Panasonic did the right thing to keep lens faster and only 400mm - the FZ1000 is really a good value as well given its flexibility and given its IQ - I do find the RZ1000 a bit better value over the RX10 which is also very nice - but that extra 200mm range is just a winner -
    Sony and Panasonic are clear winners in video

    i am considering one of these....or maybe both....I like the panasonic images always (now on my FZ200) just for the zoom I will need the Sony...

    I would go with the Sony RX 10. Compare that camera to the Panasonic DMC-FZ 1000. Sony RX 10 is awesome.

      Jimbob Seventy For under $200 , I got a refurbished DMC-FZ70 from Amazon with a 90 day warranty. Best camera I've ever bought. If your a pro ,yes, go for the big bucks cams but for the average person, this is a great camera at a great price. With 20 -1200 mm zoom & 1080p video what more do you need ?

    I think this comparison is not correct as the two are in two different price categories. I liked the SONY HX400v simply for the GPS and 1200 mm Zoom. However unfortunatly after couple of years of use I started getting a E62-10 error, apparently a lens stabilization issuse for which no fix is available. Replacement of lens could cost as mu as the camera. It still works on mid Zoom range.

    Sir,
    can't u put a suggestion to panasonic company to upgrade this 1" sensor cam with a 1200mm (60X) optical zoom without messing around this stone age 400mm baby type zoom. Bcos still they hv only 400mm with FZ1000 mark II. tnk u.

    If you are buying a Panasonic DMC-FZ1000 why not buy a DLSR already that have an even bigger sensor? Sony Cyber-shot HX400V serves better the market for people that either already have a DSLR or people that want to expend less.

      The FZ1000 will obviously give you better image quality, it has a sensor 3 times bigger, those two cameras compared is not even fair. But the Sony is far cheaper too and is a very good option.

    • @joes6657
      @joes6657 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      FZ200 is the better option but is twice the price as he stated at about 3:20. Comparing the two is pretty much a joke as they are not in the same class.

    Excuse me sir, but it's a price difference aprox. duble from sony dsc-hx400v to Panasonic DMC-FZ1000. On this price, about 900 dollars I can buy an DSLR Canon better than your panasonic. Make a difference on Sony dsc-hx400v with another high-zoom camera on that price, aprox. 450 dollars...
