My wife has the Panamera e-hybrid and I just picked up a Taycan (traded a 911) and love both cars. Porsche never disappoints.
What Taycan trim do you have? Which one do you use the most? Which one is the most fun?

It’s hard to not want an e-hybrid Porsche especially with so many engine variants. I think a Performance PHEV is a sweet spot of a controlled EV drive on demand on the front or far end of a trip as well as short commutes. Obviously the range is no sweat and a kinder fuel budget attainable. Nice job keeping from drooling. 😉
Need a Macan e-hybrid!

Great review! I absolutely love my 22 Panamera 4S E-Hybrid. As you aptly put it, it really is the sweet spot in the line-up.

Very nicely done overview. My struggle with hybrids is that if you drive in electric mode a lot, you effectively have a gasoline car that’s rarely driven or that’s driven in short bursts and that’s bad for the ICE components (oil, seals, gas).
it's the opposite i would think.. you will use the engine and in the end it will be an engine with fewer miles/hrs on it. My biggest concern is you nailing it and a cold engine comes on to high RPMs
I have a 40 mile commute and a ~40 mile PHEV (Clarity). The engine rarely comes on, but it does pop on for a few minutes at least once a week the way I drive it. It’s designed for that kind of load.
Thoughts from a 2018 Pan4 E-Hybrid owner: (1) the current-gen E-Hybrid battery packs are too small, giving too little realistic all-electric driving range (and the RAV4 Prime is far superior in terms of both driving range by about 75% with a similar-sized battery pack and in terms of acceleration without the ICE kicking in -- you can floor it to 86 mph without the ICE coming on, something not possible in Porsches); (2) the 2024 Cayenne E-Hybrid will have a 25.9-kWh battery pack and could be a game-changer, with all-electric range probably 35-45 miles (depending on speed, but closer to 45 miles in urban driving with speeds < 45 mph); (3) Out of Spec Reviews should put much more into reviewing PHEVs, especially giving how you guys are bashing (rightfully) the CCS public-charging infrastructure (it makes much more sense for the majority of Americans to bridge to BEVs from ICEVs by way of PHEVs over the coming decade); (4) Porsche has made a huge mistake by not putting its PHEV drivetrain into the Macan (as well as not making a Panamera Cross Turismo E-Hybrid).

Excellent review man! I absolutely love my ‘17 Cayenne S-EH. Exciting power on demand plus efficient commuter level e-power to save a few bucks at the pump. The ride quality is just ridiculously good for such a heavy truck as well. The only drawback is that they’re so damn expensive. I got lucky & got mine as as CPO just before the pandemic hit. Couldn’t get even close to the deal I got in this insane market.

@@rong8889 For me, the biggest dislike is the horribly small all-electric range (it's about 8-12 miles max in the 2017 version, up to about 25-30 miles max in the 2022/2023 version, and presumably 35-45 miles max in the 2024 version)...

Any idea if those drive trains are reliable ??
It’s funny because 134 hp is the combined total for the 2005-2015 Toyota Prius and these Porsches have that in EV mode.
You know now why Priuses occupy the left most lane on a freeway !
yeah, but the Prius may be more peppy because it weighs so much less than these heavy 4-door E-Hybrids behave in all-electric mode...
By the way you can have Electivical combustion engines like Nucular and Ark plasma so an acurate title would be how Batteries Enhances Combustion... Great video though!
My question is why do so many people open Teslas that don't own home chargers. Even the normal plug in. We are at the beginning of this tech. Most of these poor people don't know enough about the tech they are driving. This is a very avoidable issue
If you do a video on renting an EV in LA for a week or more, then you will know how an EV works in your life WITHOUT SPENDING 140k on a hybrid...! I just don't get why a hybrid is a good alternative to an ICE car.

Hybrids are clogging up charge stations.... Time and time again, they plug in ALL day when they only need a few hours. They don't want to use ANY gas in the city, so they charge every single day to get their stupid 60 mile range. It's pathetic.
Nah, bad take. PHEVs only ever have J1772 Level 2 - they’re never compatible with DC charging. They are not clogging up anything - they deserve the electrons just as much as anyone else.
It's like they chopped the front off a 911 and slapped it on a Mazda 3 and called it good :-/ The Panamera looks terrible.
