Let's explore the world through Google Street View.
Today we are visiting Rovaniemi Finland. This place gets cooold! I had a great time looking around and seeing a bit of the life way up north in Finland. What a great small city! Tons of malls and shopping and of course the great outdoors. I would love to take a snowmobile up one of those frozen rivers!

Here you can check out where we have been on Google Maps.

These google maps photos are at least 10 years old by now so the city has changed quite a bit from then. Also it propably was a sunday when they photographed the city, it's not very busy here on sundays :D

Yes we want more Finland. Atleast all the cities with over 100 000 population.

11:14 i used to live here, it was a children's home and the 2 men in the picture worked there, the boy was one of my friends and the little girl used to live there too. it got closed down in 2018-19 if i remember right. it was privately owned children's home. i lived there 6 years

15:00 That is a train for moving cars, you can pay for a spot to move your car across Finland. They're usually connected to sleeper trains so you can sleep the night during the trainride and wake up in the morning on the other side of Finland with your car.
Would also love to see Tampere, Finland.

Ah! I had never seen that before. Very cool. And I will add Tampere to my list. Thanks!

Also I think the thing at 20.25 might be a fire practice site? Can't really think of anything else.

If it hasn't been done already, seeing Oulu would be nice

7:10 That sign would indicate the end of a pedestrian only street. Cautions people to not walk into the traffic.
20:31 No idea what that is, but it's next to the Meteorological Institute, so maybe they do something with it.

The nightclub is called "Doris", and the bar you called "rock house" is called "Paha kurki". The names were included in signs :) The city is flooded with tourists in winter time, so for clarity businesses tend to have very informative signage.

Those ladders are for the access to the chimney.

Ah ok. I thought it was snow related, but that makes sense. Thanks!

Not the most beautiful town in Finland but nevertheless a nice destination

Yeah it wasn't the most beautiful in terms of architecture, but it was still cool to see a bit of it and learn some of its history. I wonder what it looked like before the destruction of WWII.

Rovaniemi is one of our ugliest cities. Check out cities like Hamina, Porvoo, Kotka.

*yawn* Might I suggest some places with interesting historic and modern architecture instead of this Finnish backwater: Haapsalu, Estonia. Riga, Latvia - you have never been to that country.

      Estonian backwaters?
