People don't understand why it's significant that Lin was the first AMERICAN of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the NBA. They point to Yao Ming and are like, "uh, what?"
See, if you're a Chinese American, your parents tell you to study all the time and not to "waste" your time on things like sports. Then you explain to them that the top universities want to see sports on your record--how else will you stand out compared to all the other Chinese American kids with great grades and test scores? Then they kind of come around and "permit" you to do sports. So to see Lin where he is... I don't think anyone who is not an Asian American male understands the RIDICULOUS odds Jeremy had to overcome.
I never understood the "deceptively quick" comment, either. In high school I remember being the fastest kid on my tennis team, and for some reason that was a surprise. I had the same thought that Jeremy expressed, "Do I not look quick?"

They cut out the part when she asked about harvard and her dumb question about racism amongst the students.
