@@TSGReelService great I took it down, the inside was clean so I greased it, oiled the bait runner mechanism and put it back together. You gave me the confidence to do it. The anti reverse shaft is corroded but it still works so I brushed it and greased it. Some rust in the roller clutch, I may replace but it seems to work fine after clean and grease
my vanford has start making like tick tick tick or like tick/feeling.. when retrive slow with a lure and now also more and more without.. is it time to make it to the garabgecan?.. i 'cant send it to service in sweden beacusefirst it takes 9 weeks and cost almost the same as a new ultegra.. i will try to fix it my self intead.. but is it the pinion gear thats worn out? everything inside looks fresh and not broken
Thanks for checking out the video. It may be something different, but this guide is a good place to start.... then you can go through my video library for more examples/ideas.
@@TSGReelService hate to bother ya again but i replaced most of the gears and got everything greased and moving how it should, but when i put the bail assembly on it sounds like somethings rubbing, then when i put the nut on it gets tight and finally binds up? Any clue on where i could've messed up? Im puzzled
@@paultondolojr9432 all good. glad to hear you got the reel working again. Regarding the bail assembly, it's likely going to be a problem with the lay/setup of your bail spring/trip lever assembly, or you're tightening the bail screws down too much. Watch the bail reassembly portion of this video to compare to yours
It's similar to some of the newer Internationals. You'll need the tool that came with your reel. Secure it around the handle nut (23), keep it in place and the use a strap wrench to remove the 110C cap (counterclockwise). Only turn 110C... 23 stays in place. You can damage your reel if this isn't done correctly. The rest should be pretty straightforward. If you're uncomfortable doing it, keep an on the channel in case I get one in and record it, or take it to your local repair shop.
I have the same problem but there is no rust on my shaft. could you give me a pointer on what you think it may be besides rust on the shaft? Much appreciated. Love your videos. You’ve helped me fix quite a lot of reels.
Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to ask your question. Assuming all your bearings are good, check to make sure your shaft isn't bent... do the pinion gear sliding up and down over it trick to help expose anything. You can also check your pawl and/or worn for damage. Hope this helps.
@@TSGReelService thanks so much for your fast response! I was thinking the same thing maybe a bent shaft or maybe the shaft is bent where it connects to that gear with the tiny screw. I’m not sure what a pawl is lol. I hope you can explain in the next comment what part that exactly is. lol upon closer inspection when I remove the gear that’s connected to the turn handle and got it out-of-the-way. There is a gear that has a little nipple sticking out that makes the shaft go up and down when the gears turn the only other place that I see that it could be hanging up there. Maybe that little nipple is worn down or something but I haven’t got that far into it. I just greased everything real good and make sure it was free of rust and put it back together but as I stated. it’s still hanging up in that one spot over and over when I turn the handle just like in your video. it’s an old diawa shock rod and reel combo That was my father’s and I’m really trying to keep it working order because that’s one of the only things I have left after he passed away and we love to fish together when I was younger. Thank you so much for your advice so far, you’ve earned a subscription from me!!!
@@slickmouf879 You're welcome and no worries. It's always best to let me know what reel you have, if it's not the specific reel in the video you made the comment on. It sounds like you have a pawl in your reel also, but let me know the name of the specific reel you're having the issues with and I may be able to better help. All that said, the pawl looks like this (www.ebay.com/itm/174495619820), but it doesn't mean this is the one for your reel. If you have one of those, it could certainly be damaged, or the track it rides on (called the worm) may be damaged.... or both. Let me know the name of you reel.

Don't know, brother. I find the ticking usually comes from the shaft/pinion interaction or bearings. Good luck!
Was out today and my Sahara c3000 started sticking. Eventually the reel stopped loading correctly. Is this procedure similar?

Just guessing It's the oscillator? Close but no cigar. Ha!
