you're a life savor!! pulling that damn battery is the ONLY thing that worked. had the exact issue.... restarts, unplugging, and synching did nothing! THANK YOU!!
I have a launch Wii U deluxe. Now, I can turn the console on by button on console, gamepad, pro controller, and the blue light comes on but gamepad can't connect and black screen on TV. Only way I can get it working is hold the power button 4 seconds and power it back on with either the console, or controller power button. I've tried turning the quickstart stuff off but that didn't do diddly squat. So I turned it back on. Still no fix for this and it seems so common. It's as if the Wii U is stuck in some sort of glitch mode that only resets when holding power button 4 seconds but once you put it back in standby or turn it off it starts the glitch back over. I know it's software issue but Nintendo seems not to be able to fix it.
+Dyego Allexander I've not tried removing the battery since I've read that it deletes your play history. Lately it's not been doing it near as often & seems the more often I play it the less it happens. Weird.
It only fixed it because it is like a PC. It is it's CMOS Battery. It holds all the data on it. (Kind of) And taking it out on PC's Resets the CMOS. So what you did was reset the Wii U's CMOS (Or something similar)
game bad joy screen! turn on the tv and wii u console then switch to the input settings for wiiu on en the tv! En and then on tv just wiiu and black no screen nothing what can I do!can anyone help me
This issue is most likely caused due to shoddy design of the Operating System. The same thing can happen to a 3DS when taking out a game cart while the device is in sleep mode, blank screen with the user not being able to to anything.
I removed the battery but it doesn't solve my problem wich is the same one you have, i tried everything i could but nothing seems to work, is there something i can do? i really don't want to lose my wii u
I've heard/read that it is actually in an "AutoPilot" mode when you power it back on. SUPPOSEDLY, it will EVENTUALLY finish and function correctly whenever it's complete with the corrupt/interrupted update. This just happened to me, i was reluctant to take the cell battery out because i didnt know if it would void the warranty, so I unplugged every cord from the console and almost boxed it up but after 10 minutes of being unplugged it worked.
you should not have to remove the cmos battery to fix this issue. I have had the same issue occur from time to time and so has my brother with his. just unplug the system (remove all cables, not just the power), hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge the systems motherboard of all energy stored in the capacitors, and plug it all back in. the device powers on just fine, every time. there is no permanent fix for this. the motherboard just takes too much charge over a long span of time and needs to release
+Fredro39 replacing the disk drive won't help the system display. if the system display and disk drive went out at the same time you have a bad motherboard. might as well purchase a new Wii U as the cost to repair can cost more than the console. if you know how to replace a motherboard then by all means go for it. you might save money or you might go through 2-5 bad motherboards off ebay trying to purchase a good one

Since I havent been playing on tv, I havent had an hdmi cord plugged into the wii u. Just the power supply. Today I turn on my wii u using the gamepad like usual and it says that it cant connect to the console and that i should get closer. so i do. Still not connecting. I figure it just lost its sync. Well, at least I have somewhere to start now. I have no clue how the battery that does nothing more than keep the internal timer running can cause all this, but god, I hope replacing or removing it works because this is the EXACT problem I am having.... I haven't had a single issue with my Wii U, until yesterday, now it is pulling this crap. I only ever use an external hard drive for my games, so I definitely didn't cause this by removing a game while power was running.
SON OF A...removing or straight-up replacing the internal battery didn't do a damn thing for me If anyone has got any ideas, let me know, more than two years later, and this is still an issue that occurs (and given the recent activity on this video, I know I am not the only one), the pessimism I feel right now towards Nintendo is the worst it has been in all my years of fandom... I own both versions for a reason, but it is in-fucking-furiating to be FORCED to use the piece of garbage known as the 3DS thumbstick, in order to play Super Smash Brothers when my Wii U is sitting right here -_- Not to mention the hundreds of dollars of my money I spent on the stupid amiibos and gamecube controller adapters (and controllers themselves) in order to play the Wii U version to the fullest, I honestly feel like Nintendo is raping me at this point.
Hope this works for a wii u I bought Seller sold it for less than 200$ as a whole package saying screen is black Hopefully this works and flip it to gain 50-100$
You didn't mention where the battery tray is. By the looks of it, it appears that it can be easily removed without opening the console itself? Wonder why Nintendo made the battery easy to change. Any ideas what the battery actually does beside I guess keep track of time and maybe save some sort of CMOS like settings?
no. you do not have to remove the battery either. unplug the console, remove all cables from the console, and hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge the system. plug it all back in and everything will be fine. removing the cmos battery is too drastic for an issue of this degree

SON OF A...removing or straight-up replacing the internal battery didn't do a damn thing for me
If anyone has got any ideas, let me know, more than two years later, and this is still an issue that occurs (and given the recent activity on this video, I know I am not the only one), the pessimism I feel right now towards Nintendo is the worst it has been in all my years of fandom...
I own both versions for a reason, but it is in-fucking-furiating to be FORCED to use the piece of garbage known as the 3DS thumbstick, in order to play Super Smash Brothers when my Wii U is sitting right here -_-
Not to mention the hundreds of dollars of my money I spent on the stupid amiibos and gamecube controller adapters (and controllers themselves) in order to play the Wii U version to the fullest, I honestly feel like Nintendo is raping me at this point.
Hope this works for a wii u I bought
Seller sold it for less than 200$ as a whole package saying screen is black
Hopefully this works and flip it to gain 50-100$
- Pro controller
- wii u
- game pad
- power cord
- pad charger
You didn't mention where the battery tray is. By the looks of it, it appears that it can be easily removed without opening the console itself? Wonder why Nintendo made the battery easy to change. Any ideas what the battery actually does beside I guess keep track of time and maybe save some sort of CMOS like settings?
dont turn off or turn on with the power button from the wii u use the controler s power button
The first time you took out the game was it giving you the horn of death? (The loud buzzing after it freezes)
do you have to replace a new battery
no. you do not have to remove the battery either. unplug the console, remove all cables from the console, and hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge the system. plug it all back in and everything will be fine. removing the cmos battery is too drastic for an issue of this degree
Where is the battery because I have the same problem
Look at the wii u logo turn it so the logo goes to your left. On the. Bottom right of your perspective will be the battery thing. You will need a small screwdriver
BSOD & BSOD??
