Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.
I make my own Spinnerbaits, all kinds of configurations with blades, and my blades are either chrome or gold or both, plus I really like two big blades and multiple small blades, the Spinnerbait is very close to the “Best” all around Bass bait! My spinnerbait rod is a 7’ Lamaglass rod I built, you never feel the fish hit, the rod just loads up and set the hook, and reel in your prize! My best luck has been with a “Bulky skirted” baits, skimpy skirts don’t do as well, and for me, slow rolling has been better then burning.
Nathan. Great video. You nailed it. White works all the time when you have the patience to let it roll. It’s tough to do when you try to bang the lure off of cover. Be well my friend
I usually throw a light wire spinnerbait, with a single Colorado or Indiana blade. I never use trailer hooks, but I do use a twin tail trailer. For night fishing, I throw a black spinnerbait with blue blades and an Uncle Josh pork frog for a trailer.
One thing about spinnerbaits people overlook is a painted blade. Sometimes the flash of chrome blades is to much. Nichols are my go to spinnerbaits, bluegill, black and blue, all white with painted blades. I do well with those north of the boarder.
Great spinnerbait tips, to take it a step further ….. you can vary blade sizes # 4, 4.5, 5, 6 willow etc…buy a 10 pack of each size Willow, Colorado blades in gold & silver ( Barlow’s or Lurepartsonline ) 2.5 fine split rings to attach to blades. Experiment with different blade sizes. Example: you can run a double willow leaf bait with two #4’s to run the spinnerbait faster ( less drag ) a.k.a burn it. The same 1/2 oz. Bait you can run a #4 with a #6 and slow roll it a bit deeper. A great combination for mid range casting with a double willow leaf is a #4 with a #4.5 blade. Rob
I've been chunking spinner baits for decades. The one I really enjoy is Strike King's Hack Attack in the bluegill color pattern. My favorite in the past was a Single Indiana blade Terminator T1. Last year I lost it on a snag. They don't make them anymore. I still have spinnerbaits that arent made anymore and still use them from time to time
I make my own jigheads like EWG Ned jigs, Shakeyhead, so I trade a friend back in Bufford Ga. for a couple he makes for me. I go through a lot of them sometimes so it's easy for me to make exactly what I want. I'm only using 2 colors, those are the main ones I use,...but I like a light wire hook most times. But when it comes to spinnerbaits I want that titanium frame. My spinnerbait box is full of tuned stainless steel frames because of approach presentation in different situations. They all work & I still have a few in Bubblegum. That was a mean color for a few years
I kept missing or losing every bass that hit my spinner bait on an outing years ago. My fishing buddy laughed his rear off when I discovered that I had not removed the plastic hook protector. My favorite bait for redfish is a light wire spinner bait with a #4 gold Colorado blade and a swim bait instead of a skirt.
Perfect and great video. I’m a tuber too, try to train yourself to look straight into the camera lens. Looking at the flip out screen or the external monitor is a little disorienting to the viewer. Much more engaging if you can “look”strait into the lease. It feels awful but just pretend it’s an eyeball. Silly tip and I’m not criticizing just a suggestion.
Fall, overcast, windy, tannic water? Yep, yep, yep, yep. Did they catch any fish in the bay at Lake Erie during the TBF Regional Semi-final? Nope. A 2 day tournament on Lake Erie was won in the bay in 2022, fyi. On black and blue senkos in the weeds. Day 2 lunker was caught on the main lake in 3 feet of water on a weightless senko.
@@anz2441 Thanks. A year ago, due to drought, our lake was so low, just getting to it became hazardous. After almost getting Lyme disease and tearing cartilage in my shoulder, I gave up bass fishing.

Thanks Nathan. Spinnerbaits are great in the fall. A blade I did good last fall on was a silver turtle shell on a small frame spinnerbait(5/16oz).
Nice!
I really love the smaller strike king spinners. I have caught some pretty good bass on those little guys.
The war eagle finesse? If so me too. Everything eats them.
They definitely catch them!

Next time they’re biting blue, try dark gray or black. Bass eyes can’t tell the difference. If deeper than 15’, same goes for dark red.
Nice that’s old school!

Absolutely painted blades are great!

This is true as well!
Stumbled on this video, like the detail and competence. Subd!
Thank you!
I throw War Eagle 1/4 ounce spinnerbaits willow leaf.
Nice they catch them!
Their jigs are bad ass as well.

Great information, Nathan, thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Colorado blades with steady pull will give a chopping effect that is DEADLY!!!
Absolutely!
Love fishing spinnerbaits! Chunk and wind! Thanks for sharing the tips!
Thank you!
War Eagle1/4oz is the best spinner bait I have.🤠Michigan Old Michigan Fisherman
They catch them!

My favorite bait for redfish is a light wire spinner bait with a #4 gold Colorado blade and a swim bait instead of a skirt.
That will do it!
Awesome video, great info thanks
Thank you!

Put the lens in the middle of a clown face.
Appreciate the advice!
Good vid Nathan 👍 The Fury 734 is a great multi technique rod
Yes it is!
All the fury series rods are great. I have a 7' heavy for almost everything and the 806 for my swimbaits

Sometimes that just is what they want!
I can't ever get a trailer on straight
Just takes practice!
Use a Strike King spinnerbait skirt, you don't need a trailer!!!
Do you mean, you add a second spinnerbait skirt where the trailer would go?
True!
@@ricksonora6656 The SK premium plus has a long tapered skirt that acts like a trailer...trailer hook included. Excellent spinnerbaits.

What state are you located in bro?
Spinnerbaits have been a cold weather confidence bait for me for a good while .
Most successful fall and spring
Pennsylvania!
I haven't tried any of the 6's spinners yet. I want to.
I’m sure they are great!
