He put Napoli at the top of Seria A which in itself was a marvellous achievement. Depending on ages, some go Di Stefano and Puskas, some go Pele and Best and now some go Ronaldo and Messi. Difficult to separate those players. Maradona stood in his era head and shoulders above everyone else.

Looking back, it becomes obvious that few opponents tried to play the ball, intent as they were in bringing him down with foul play, which he evaded most of the time. He used his low centre of gravity to marvelous effect, making it extremely difficult for anyone to force him off the ball or to match him in instantaneous turns. RIP Diego!

If you know about things you'll know this guy was more than a great footballer he was a 'spirit'. Not only unbelievable as a player but with an off -the -charts IQ. i.e. look how many times he makes different pass choices in key moments - when you know what most other players would do. Infelizmente hoje muito jogadores jogam pela fama e pelo dinheiro não estão nenhum pouco preocupados se irão ganhar a partida ou não, não pensam que por detrás de um time a uma nação inteira sofrendo e torcendo para que saiam com a vitória nas mãos.
